Gaming laptops in 2025 are pushing boundaries, and the Asus ROG Strix G16 (2025) is a shining example. I got my hands on the G615LR-S5190WS model in Eclipse Gray, and from the moment I unboxed it, this 2.65 kg beast made a strong impression. Priced at a premium, it’s aimed at gamers, creators, and power users who demand top-tier performance. Here’s a deep dive into my experience.
2Display, keyboard, and audio
The 16-inch 2.5K ROG Nebula Display is a real highlight. With a 2560 x 1600 resolution, 240Hz refresh rate, 3ms response time, and 100% DCI-P3 colour gamut, every frame looks vivid, sharp, and ultra-smooth. Whether you’re fragging in *Valorant*, editing 4K footage, or watching *Dune: Part Two*, the viewing experience is incredibly immersive. The display supports Dolby Vision HDR, and its 500-nit brightness ensures visibility even in well-lit environments. However, at a price of Rs 2,60,000, an OLED panel would have been a welcome addition considering that the Asus’ more affordable productivity laptops also feature OLED.
While there is sufficient space on the keyboard area, there is no dedicated numpad, which might inconvenience users accustomed to one. The Print Screen button is oddly placed at the lower line of the keys, which feels counterintuitive. Typing is a pleasure on the premium-feeling keyboard with satisfying key travel, though I have a suggestion to move the Del key away from the power button. Despite sufficient space between these two buttons on this device, there is still a risk of accidentally hitting the power button, which could unintentionally put your PC into sleep mode. The touchpad is smooth and responsive. The Dolby Atmos-certified speakers with Hi-Res Audio and AI noise-cancellation are present but don’t feel loud enough; for a better experience, external speakers are recommended, while dedicated headphones remain the best choice for gaming.
