The Oppo Reno series has always struck a balance between style and substance. The Oppo Reno 14 5G carries that legacy forward, offering advanced imaging, a large battery with fast charging, and a capable chipset in a slim, elegant profile. Having used it for a while, I can say you will not feel short-changed by choosing this over the Reno 14 Pro 5G. It is a well-engineered all-rounder with a strong emphasis on AI-powered photography and everyday usability.

4. Camera and Other features

Photography is where the Reno 14 5G flexes its camera prowess and AI muscle. The rear setup includes a 50-megapixel main sensor with OIS, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide, and a 50-megapixel telephoto lens offering 3.5x optical zoom. On the front, there’s another 50-megapixel sensor with autofocus, making it equally capable for selfies and vlogging.

The main camera produces sharp, well-exposed images in daylight, with accurate colors and good dynamic range. Low-light performance is boosted by an advanced triple-flash system that includes a dedicated flash for the telephoto lens. This is ideal for capturing portraits at night without harsh shadows.

The telephoto camera is tuned for flattering portrait shots, and its AI-powered digital zoom can go up to 120x, but while the periscope telephoto lens is impressive, quality diminishes past 30x zoom, and 120x digital zoom produces soft, blurry results. The ultra-wide is handy for landscapes and group shots, retaining decent detail and colour consistency with the main shooter.

AI features like Perfect Shot, Recompose, and Eraser work surprisingly well, letting you fix closed eyes, adjust framing, or remove unwanted objects with minimal effort. AI Style Transfer and AI Studio open up creative possibilities by letting you apply artistic filters or replicate the look of reference images.

Video performance is strong, too. 4K HDR recording at 60fps is supported on both front and rear cameras, and features like AI Vlog Voice Enhancer help isolate speech in noisy environments. Underwater Photography mode is an unusual but fun addition, letting you shoot in shallow water without a separate housing.

Beyond imaging, there are thoughtful touches for gamers, like Footstep Sound Boost for FPS titles, AI Frame Stabilization for smoother visuals, and AI Game Highlights that automatically capture shareable moments. The fingerprint sensor works fine, but there’s no support for NFC connectivity on the device.
