Vivo is expanding beyond smartphones with the Vision Discovery Edition, its first mixed reality (MR) headset. Showcased in India alongside the Vivo X Fold 6 at the Vivo NEXT event on October 6, the headset offers a glimpse into the company’s ambitions in spatial computing, entertainment, and gaming.
I got to try the Vivo Vision Discovery Edition at the event, exploring its interface, controls, virtual environments, and gaming features. Although my session was brief, the experience was positive. However, the headset is currently not available for purchase in India, with no confirmed retail price or consumer sales date.
7Final Thoughts
My experience with the Vivo Vision Discovery Edition was positive. Its immersive visuals, eye tracking, hand gestures, physical controls, and interactive gaming offer an interesting glimpse into Vivo’s mixed reality ambitions.
The limited app selection and short demonstration meant I could explore only a fraction of its capabilities. Comfort, battery endurance, and software support will need further evaluation.
For now, the headset remains a showcase device rather than a product consumers can purchase in India. Nevertheless, it is an interesting step beyond Vivo’s smartphone business and a promising preview of its approach to spatial computing.
