Xiaomi‘s MIUI is still one of the most well known Android UIs around the Android community. While opinions tend to differ when it comes to preference, it’s undeniable that MIUI is still one of the better UIs around. Despite all the ads, it’s still a very polished experience, and gets frequent updates. Now, they’re finally testing MIUI 10 based on the latest Android Q.

With this, we’ll optimally be getting some of the new Android Q features on new MIUI versions. This means MIUI users can expect all the new security and privacy features from Android Q. By extension, that also means there’s a chance MIUI will get a dark mode, though we’re not optimistic on that one. It seems like that one would have to come from Xiaomi’s side rather than Google.

MIUI

Over on Weibo, it’s a bit surprising to see a lot of Chinese MiFans aren’t too eager for Android Q. There’s a rather large divide, with a lot more Chinese MiFans preferring to see MIUI 11 over Android Q. This makes sense for them, seeing how most Google services are banned in China. On top- of that, there’s the fact that MIUI 10 pretty much entirely covers up anything Android related on the OS, and it’s not hard to see why they’re not too enthused.

Regardless, it’s great to see Xiaomi taking Android updates more seriously as of late. It’s a huge improvement over the old Xiaomi, and makes recommending their devices much easier. Android Q is a huge update over the older versions, making it a top priority for smartphone manufacturers. We hope more companies begin pushing for Android Q on their devices.
