Xiaomi commenced its annual Mi Developers Conference 2019 on Tuesday in China. During the first day of the conference, the Chinese tech giant reiterated its mobile+A!oT dual-engine strategy which it is operating presently. Xiaomi also unveiled a variety of IoT smart gadgets under the AQara brand.
The main product is the MIJIA Smart Multi-mode gateway which comes with support for three communication protocols, namely; Zigbee, Wi-Fi, as well as BLE & BLE Mesh. The product is priced at $129 (~$18) and will be officially launched on December 12. Also announced is the Aqara smoke alarm NB-IoT version, which is priced at 299 yuan (~$32) and will equally go on sale on December 12.

In addition, Xiaomi also announced an update to the IoT module family, in which the Xiaomi IoT BLE Mesh module now comes with a reduced price of 6 yuan, the Zigbee 3.0 module’s price is reduced to 10.5 yuan, and the WiFi+ Bluetooth module has a price tag of 9.5 yuan.
According to reports, Xiaomi AIoT has more than 196 million service-connected smart devices, serving 59.99 million homes, and intelligently executing commands 108 million times a day. The service is available globally and in a short while will be expanded further with the launch of the AQara brand in the US.
