Oppo has just confirmed that the Oppo Find N5 foldable phone will be announced on Feb. 20 in China. It will debut as the world’s first foldable phone powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite. Sibling brand Vivo is also said to be working on the Snapdragon 8 Elite-powered Vivo X Fold 4. A recent leak claimed that its arrival has been reportedly delayed to the second quarter of this year. A new leak, courtesy of tipster Digital Chat Station, reveals that the X Fold 4 will arrive with one major change.
Vivo to axe in-screen fingerprint sensor on the Vivo X Fold 4

In the above leak, DCS has revealed that four Chinese smartphone manufacturers will launch horizontally foldable phones this year. While he has not explicitly mentioned the names, reports have claimed that these include the Oppo Find N5, Honor Magic V4, Vivo X Fold 4, and Huawei Mate X7.
As far as Xiaomi is concerned, it is likely to skip the Mix Fold 5 this year, but the good thing is that the company has reportedly not given up on book-style foldable phones. The leak also suggests that all four foldable phones will be equipped with a side-facing fingerprint sensor.
This will be a major change for Vivo, as its previous foldables have all featured dual in-screen fingerprint sensors for both internal and external displays. The first-generation X Fold and X Fold+ came with optical-type in-screen fingerprint scanners, and it switched to ultrasonic-type on the X Fold 2 onwards. DCS claims that the reason brands are switching to a side-facing fingerprint sensor is to help reduce the thickness of upcoming foldables, bringing them in the range of 8mm in thinness. To put into context, the upcoming Find N5 is said to measure 9.2mm in the folded state.
Vivo X Fold 4 specifications (rumored)

As per reports, the Vivo X Fold 4 will be a very slim and lightweight foldable phone despite packing a battery of around 6000mAh capacity. The Snapdragon 8 Elite-powered device is expected to support wireless charging and offer an IPX8 level of water resistance. Its rear camera module is expected to include a 50-megapixel main camera, a 50-megapixel ultra-wide lens, and a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom. Reports also claim that this time around the brand will only release the Vivo X Fold 4, meaning there will not a Pro model like last year.
