The recently unveiled Apple iPhone 17 series for the first time features a 120Hz display. Soon after the iPhone 17 series launch, OnePlus President Li Jie Louis took to Weibo to state that OnePlus is preparing a new leap in display technology for its upcoming devices. He hinted at a major shift that will impact visual smoothness and user experience.

OnePlus 15, Ace 6 could feature ultra-high refresh rate displays

Upcoming OnePlus devices to feature ultra-high refresh rate displays

Li Jie Louis explained that high refresh displays have already transformed how people interact with smartphones over the past decade. He indicated that the next step will be the ultra-high refresh era and linked this progress to the anticipated OnePlus 15 and OnePlus Ace 6.

Both devices are expected to launch in October in China and could mark the debut of the company’s new display technology. He noted that, similar to the OnePlus 7 Pro’s introduction of higher refresh rates six years ago, the new models could set a fresh benchmark for visual fluidity. Alongside smoother navigation, the emphasis will also be on enabling ultra-high frame gaming, promising faster response and reduced lag during play.

He further suggested that once these devices adopt ultra-high refresh technology, other manufacturers may follow, repeating a pattern where innovations from OnePlus become industry-wide standards.

According to reports, the OnePlus 15 and Ace 6 may both feature a 1.5K resolution display with support for a 165Hz refresh rate. Under the hood, these devices are expected to feature the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 and 8 Elite chipsets, respectively.
