Redmi has finally brought the Turbo 5 to India, nearly five months after the phone first went official in China back in January. It’s the first time a Turbo series has launched in India, but Chinese buyers are still getting a better deal.
The Redmi Turbo 5 is priced in India at Rs 35,999 for the 8GB+256GB variant, while the 12GB+256GB model costs Rs 38,999.
In comparison, the Turbo 5 is currently available in China for 2,299 yuan for the 12GB+256GB unit. And that’s after a price increase in April,

Run the math at today’s exchange rate, the 2,299 yuan converts to about Rs 32,200, nearly Rs 6,800 cheaper than the Rs 38,999 Redmi is charging Indian buyers for the identical 12GB+256GB configuration.
Even India’s entry-level 8GB variant at Rs 35,999 costs more than China’s higher-RAM base model once converted.
However, the premium isn’t unusual for Chinese-origin phones sold in India, where import duties, GST, and logistics typically push prices upward, but it does mean Indian buyers are paying a real markup for the same silicon and battery their Chinese counterparts get noticeably cheaper.
Redmi, however, is offering up to Rs 2,000 in instant discounts on select SBI, ICICI, and Axis Bank cards, and sales begin June 19 via Amazon.in, mi.com, and offline retail. You can pick from Turbo White, Nitro Blue, and Asphalt Black colourways.
Redmi Turbo 5 Specifications
As for specs, the phone runs on MediaTek’s Dimensity 8500 Ultra paired with LPDDR5X Ultra RAM and UFS 4.1 storage, backed by a 5,300mm² vapour chamber to keep the chip cool during long sessions.

Redmi claims an AnTuTu score north of 2 million, which it says edges out rivals like the OnePlus Nord CE6 and the Nothing Phone (4a) Pro. The 6.59-inch 1.5K AMOLED panel runs at 120Hz, and the standout feature remains the 7,540mAh battery with 100W HyperCharge, wrapped in an IP66/IP68/IP69/IP69K-rated build.
The back is home to a 50MP Sony IMX882 OIS main camera and an 8MP ultra-wide sensor, while it also has a customisable LED pixel-matrix ring around the camera module. It ships on HyperOS 3 over Android 16.
