Casio has released a new iteration of its long-standing MQ-24 analog watch, swapping out the traditional resin strap for a stainless steel band. The newly launched MQ-24D and MQ-24G collections are now available in the US, bringing a more formal aesthetic to one of the company’s most basic and recognizable timepieces.
Design Details
The lineup consists of four distinct models. The silver-tone MQ-24DA series includes three variants: the MQ24DA-1A with a black dial, the MQ24DA-2A with a deep navy blue dial, and the MQ24DA-3A featuring an emerald green dial. For those looking for a different finish, the MQ-24GA collection offers the MQ24GA-1A, which pairs a black dial with a gold ion-plated band and case.
All four watches feature a metallic sunray dial designed to catch and reflect light, paired with raised, three-dimensional metallic indexes. It is a straightforward three-hand analog setup that prioritizes basic legibility over extra features.
From a hardware perspective, Casio is keeping the core specifications identical to the standard MQ-24 line. The watches maintain a compact and slim profile, measuring 38.8 by 34.9 mm with a thickness of just 7.8 mm. Because the main case and bezel are still constructed from resin rather than solid steel, the watches remain exceptionally light at 45 grams, even with the addition of the new metal band. The self-adjustable clasp accommodates wrist sizes ranging from 150 to 205 mm.
Internally, the watches are powered by a standard SR626SW battery, which Casio estimates will last for approximately three years. The face is protected by standard resin glass, and the watch features basic water resistance suitable for daily wear, meaning it will survive washing your hands or light rain, but it is not intended for swimming or diving.
Pricing and Availability
The new collections are positioned firmly in the budget category. The three silver-tone MQ-24DA models are priced at $54.95, while the gold-tone MQ-24GA-1A carries a slight premium at $64.95. All four models are available to purchase now.
