Honor was previously tipped to be working on its first wide foldable phone, powered by a 2nm-based Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6-series chipset. A follow-up report today spills more details about it, including the cameras and battery size.
According to Digital Chat Station (DCS), the engineering prototype still carries the same screen setup spotted earlier — a 7.6-inch inner display paired with a 5.5-inch outer screen. That’s a notably roomier cover screen than most current foldables offer, and it’s better for everyday tasks like texting, browsing, and watching short clips without needing to unfold the phone every time.
Honor’s wide-foldable has moved up in development stage
What’s changed since the last leak is the phone’s development stage. Instead of just being in testing, the foldable has now entered the final refinement process. That’s a meaningful shift, since it usually signals a device is nearing the end of its development cycle and getting closer to an official announcement.
On the camera front, DCS says Honor’s design team has locked in a 200MP main sensor along with a periscope telephoto lens for zoom shots. The wide foldable is also tipped to pack a 7000mAh battery, which DCS claims would make it the largest battery among flagship foldables in its class.
Honor is known for fitting a big battery into a slim form in its previous foldable — Magic V6, for instance — so the brand’s attempt to do the same with its first wide foldable is not even surprising.
With the device now in its final refinement stage, an official launch may not be too far off. Honor hasn’t confirmed a release window yet, but as more details trickle out, expect the picture to get clearer in the coming months.
