Samsung is officially entering the smart glasses market. At its Galaxy Unpacked event in London, the company unveiled new intelligent eyewear powered by Google’s Android XR platform and Gemini AI. To avoid the bulky look of traditional AR hardware, Samsung partnered with eyewear brands Gentle Monster and Warby Parker to design frames intended for everyday use.

The hardware is built around Qualcomm’s Snapdragon AR1 Gen1 platform. Samsung says the glasses will get up to nine hours of battery life on a single charge, with the included charging case providing seven additional full top-ups. The built-in camera provides visual context for the onboard AI, allowing the device to process your surroundings.

Samsung is showcasing two distinct styles. The Gentle Monster edition features a slim black frame with a straight upper rim, while the Warby Parker version opts for a brown frame with a slightly upswept brow line. Both were engineered to prioritize a lightweight fit, with Samsung working alongside the brands to refine the fit around the ears and forehead.

On the software side, the glasses rely on Google’s Gemini AI to handle hands-free tasks via voice, touch, and gesture controls. The camera enables several multimodal AI features: the glasses can scan whiteboards and organize the text into Notes, provide real-time translation, and offer location-based navigation. You can also share your live point-of-view during video calls or have the AI summarize incoming messages and read them aloud.

The core concept is straightforward, positioning the device as a direct competitor to Meta’s smart glasses: bringing AI assistance into your line of sight without forcing you to constantly pull out a phone. However, Samsung is keeping the final launch details under wraps for now. The company has not yet announced pricing or an official release date for the eyewear.
