Timex has introduced the Retroware Digital, a new line of digital watches that draws heavily on the design of 1990s sport models. The watches are available now in the US for $149. The initial release includes two color options: a matte blue version and a grey-green version, both featuring matching resin straps.
Design Details
The watch comes with a 46mm resin case that measures 11mm thick with a 50mm lug-to-lug distance. Despite its relatively large size, the lightweight resin construction keeps it comfortable for daily wear. It also features a curved digital display with larger digits for improved readability.
For the display cover, Timex uses an acrylic crystal that prioritizes impact resistance over scratch resistance, while allowing minor scratches to be polished out easily.
Internally, the Retroware Digital uses a standard quartz movement powered by a CR2025 coin-cell battery. It does not include Bluetooth, step tracking, or any other smart features.
The functionality is limited to standard digital watch tools: a daily alarm, a countdown timer, and a chronograph for measuring elapsed time. The watch also includes Timex’s Indiglo feature, which lights up the display panel for visibility in dark environments when a button is pressed.
The watch has a water resistance rating of 50 meters. This is sufficient for rain and light swimming, though Timex specifies that it is not intended for diving and that the buttons should not be pressed while submerged.
The included 20mm resin straps feature quick-release spring bars, meaning they can be removed and swapped without the use of a spring bar tool. They are designed to fit wrist sizes ranging from 5.9 to 8.1 inches.
