Honor has unveiled the much anticipated and futuristic Robot Phone, which comes with a robotic gimbal camera, in China. At the same event, the brand also offered the first official glimpse of the upcoming Honor Magic 9 series, revealing its new camera design and ARRI imaging collaboration ahead of its September launch.
Honor Magic 9 series design revealed with ARRI imaging collaboration
The Honor Magic 9 series is officially set to arrive in September, and the company has already started receiving its blinders through the Honor Shop (online store) in China. The first official glimpse reveals a large circular rear camera module placed towards the upper-left corner, marking a departure from the previous generation’s centred circular camera design.
The visible design shows a premium metal frame, a refined antenna layout, and an ARRI branding mark placed around the camera module. The camera island appears inspired by professional cinema equipment, with a large circular layout housing multiple sensors. Honor is expected to bring ARRI’s color science and imaging technologies to the Magic 9 series, including ARRI LogC3, ARRI Look, and an ARRI cinema mode.
Honor previously announced a global imaging partnership with ARRI, a German cinema technology company known for its professional cameras and film-making solutions. The Magic 9 series is expected to be among the upcoming consumer devices that benefit from this collaboration.
The lineup is expected to include three models: the standard Magic 9, Magic 9 Pro, and Magic 9 Pro Max. The series is tipped to be among the first smartphones powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro flagship platform. Other expected upgrades include enhanced AI features and improved imaging capabilities.
Reports suggest the series may include dual 200-megapixel cameras and Honor’s in-house imaging chip. The phones are also expected to introduce a new software experience focused on more advanced AI interactions.
