Xiaomi is bringing the Redmi Note 17 series to Malaysia on August 18, 2026. For the first time, the lineup will also include a new top-end model, the Redmi Note 17 Pro Max. It will sit above the standard Note 17 and Note 17 Pro.

Xiaomi confirmed in the teaser that the Redmi Note 17 Pro Max will feature a silicon-carbon battery with up to 10,000mAh capacity, the largest battery ever used in the Redmi Note series.

Here’s a quick look at how the Chinese models shape up, since Malaysia’s versions are likely to follow a similar template. The standard Redmi Note 17 runs on a Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 chipset, paired with a 7-inch OLED display, an 8,000mAh battery, 45W wired charging, and a 50-megapixel main camera. It also carries an IP65 rating.

The Redmi Note 17 Pro moves up to a Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 chip and a 6.83-inch AMOLED display with 1.5K resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. Its 9,000mAh battery pairs with a 50-megapixel main camera and a 2-megapixel depth sensor, and the phone is IP69K-rated for durability. China doesn’t have an official Pro Max yet, so the 10,000mAh model debuting in Malaysia looks to be a global-first addition to the range.

A Geekbench listing for the global Redmi Note 17 Pro Max has also appeared ahead of the launch, giving us an early look at the phone’s hardware.

Xiaomi is expected to reveal the full specifications tomorrow, including RAM, storage, cameras, and pricing. More details about the Redmi Note 17 Pro Max and the rest of the lineup should become clear once the Malaysian launch takes place.
