The next iQOO flagship is expected to bring several notable changes to the company’s high-end smartphone lineup. The iQOO 16 is also set to put considerable focus on display quality and gaming performance. New details have now shed more light on what the phone could offer in these areas.
iQOO 16 display could get Samsung’s latest OLED technology

According to DCS, iQOO 16 will be the first Android smartphone to use Samsung Display’s latest-generation M16 emissive material alongside a new-generation LEAD display technology. The same display approach is reportedly being considered for Apple’s upcoming foldable iPhone Ultra, although the iQOO 16 is expected to bring it to a conventional smartphone form factor.
The reported LEAD technology removes the traditional polarising layer from an OLED panel and replaces it with a nano-lithography filter structure. The claimed result is 40% higher light transmission, 44% lower power consumption and a 50% increase in panel lifespan.
The technology is also expected to improve viewing angles and colour accuracy while addressing some of the power consumption, longevity and eye-comfort limitations associated with OLED panels. The iQOO 16 is tipped to feature a 6.85-inch 2K+ display with a 165Hz refresh rate.

Gaming is another area where the iQOO 16 could stand out. Its self-developed Q4 chip is said to enable virtual point light sources combined with HDR, bringing more advanced real-time lighting effects to mobile games. The setup is also reportedly capable of producing game screenshots at up to 8K resolution, with users able to adjust certain visual parameters. WHYLAB says many popular games are expected to support the new features.
The iQOO 16 is expected to debut by the end of September or early October, with earlier information pointing to a redesigned camera module and a more futuristic rear panel. The phone is also expected to focus heavily on high-end performance, display quality and gaming-focused features as part of its flagship positioning.
