Timex has released a reissue of its 1990 Moon Phase and Calendar Dial watch in the US. The watch is available now on the company’s website for $299. It offers a highly detailed, complication-heavy analog display packed into a relatively compact form factor.
Design Details
The new reissue features a 37mm polished gold-tone stainless steel case. With a lug-to-lug distance of 42.5mm and a case height of 10mm, the dimensions lean toward the smaller, more traditional sizing that has become standard in the current watch market. The gold-tone case is paired with a white dial that utilizes full black Arabic numerals and features a tiered bezel. The total weight of the watch is 44.89 grams.
The watch shows a sheer amount of data on the dial. It includes a 28-day moon phase sub-dial located near the top of the display, which tracks the current lunar cycle. Additionally, Timex has integrated a full monthly calendar system. Just outside the central time display are two outer rings that track the day of the week and the date.
These rings are independently adjusted using two secondary knobs located above and below the main crown. You can align the ‘1’ with the first day of the month to view the entire month’s layout at a glance. There is also a standard date window positioned at 6 o’clock, which is adjusted by pulling the main crown out one stop and turning it clockwise.
On the hardware side, the watch is powered by a standard quartz movement running on an SR920SW battery. It includes a mineral crystal over the dial and offers 50 meters of water resistance, which is adequate for light swimming but not intended for diving or snorkeling.
For the strap, Timex is using an 18mm brown crocodile-grain leather band with a standard buckle. The strap also includes quick-release spring bars, allowing users to swap bands without needing specialized tools.
