Citizen has launched the AQ4100-65X in the US as the latest addition to its premium The Citizen lineup. It is priced at $2,995 and combines a high-accuracy quartz movement with the brand’s specialized case materials. The watch is now available for purchase through Citizen’s US website.
Design Details
The watch features a 38.3mm case made from Citizen’s Super Titanium. To protect against standard wear and tear, the metal is treated with a Duratect Platinum coating.
This process gives the titanium a silver-tone finish that looks similar to stainless steel, while keeping the overall weight of the watch low. The case has a 22mm lug width and comes with a matching titanium bracelet that uses a standard fold-over clasp with push buttons.
For the dial, Citizen used Tosa Tengujoshi paper dyed in a deep red shade. This traditional Japanese washi paper is extremely thin and translucent, allowing ambient light to pass through the dial and reach the solar cells underneath.
At the same time, it gives the dial a textured, matte finish. Citizen has also added its eagle mark logo, which identifies the watch as part of this specific collection.
Inside, the AQ4100-65X runs on the Caliber A060 Eco-Drive movement. It is a solar-powered quartz mechanism, meaning it charges via natural or artificial light and does not require standard battery replacements.
The movement is rated for an accuracy of ±5 seconds per year. It also includes a perpetual calendar, so the date function automatically accounts for different month lengths and leap years.
The watch is fitted with a spherical sapphire crystal that sits slightly raised above the bezel. It has a water resistance rating of 100 meters, which is sufficient for swimming and showering. Citizen is producing 350 unnumbered pieces of the AQ4100-65X globally.
