OnePlus has started revealing details about the OnePlus 16 ahead of its expected launch in October in China. Recently, the brand shared official images, color options, and memory configurations for the upcoming flagship. Now, OnePlus China President Li Jie Louis has revealed more about the phone’s design and usability.
OnePlus 16 design details revealed
According to Li Jie Louis, the OnePlus 16 is being designed around a combination of performance, appearance, and everyday ergonomics. The flagship will feature extremely narrow bezels on all four sides, giving the front a cleaner appearance while increasing the immersive feel of the display. The flat-screen approach is paired with carefully rounded corners to make the phone more comfortable to hold during regular use.
The company is also paying attention to how the phone feels in different scenarios. Li Jie says the larger-radius corners help maintain the visual appeal of a flat display while improving comfort in the hand. This should be particularly noticeable during extended scrolling and when holding the phone horizontally for gaming.
Another notable addition is a dedicated shortcut key that can be customized with up to nine different functions. OnePlus says users will be able to assign commonly used actions such as muting the phone, activating the flashlight, or starting a recording, making them accessible with a single press. The approach is aimed at reducing the number of steps required for frequently used functions, especially when operating the phone with one hand.
The OnePlus 16 will also feature a metal camera deco and a metal middle frame, reinforcing its premium design direction. These details come alongside earlier announcements surrounding the flagship, including its debut with ColorOS 17 and support for a global 165Hz refresh rate.
