Xiaomi has launched the Xiaomi Pad 9 and Xiaomi Pad 9 Pro in China. The Xiaomi Pad 9 starts at 2,999 yuan (~ $447), and the Xiaomi Pad 9 Pro starts at 3,799 yuan (~ $566). The Xiaomi Pad 9 Pro Max, which uses the Xring O3 chip, launched earlier this month, and you can read about it here. These two tablets use Snapdragon chips instead and cost less.

You get an 11.2-inch 3.2K LCD with an adaptive refresh rate of up to 144Hz and a peak brightness of 1,000 nits. It covers the DCI-P3 color gamut, supports 12-bit color, and carries hardware-level low blue light and flicker-free certifications.

The processor is the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4, which is the same chip the Xiaomi Pad 8 uses. The battery is 9,720mAh with 45W wired charging. Xiaomi rates it for up to 14.5 hours of short video playback or 20 hours of online meetings.

The tablet is 5.75mm thick and weighs 485g. It has four speakers with Dolby Atmos, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, a 50MP rear camera, and a 13MP front camera. It comes in Peach Pink, Spruce Green, Black, and Silver, and it runs HyperOS 4.

The Xiaomi Pad 9 Pro moves up to a 12.5-inch 3.2K LCD with a 144Hz refresh rate, P3 color, and 1,000 nits of peak brightness. It also supports full-brightness DC dimming and carries TÜV Rheinland eye protection certification. The Xiaomi Pad 8 Pro had an 11.2-inch screen with 800 nits, so this is a larger and brighter panel. 

Inside is a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, and Xiaomi says it scores over 3.4 million in AnTuTu. The cooling system uses graphite over a total area of more than 22,000 mm². The battery grows to 11,000mAh, up from 9,200mAh on the Xiaomi Pad 8 Pro. It supports 67W wired charging and 22.5W reverse charging, so you can top up a phone from it.

Audio also changes. The Xiaomi Pad 9 Pro has six speakers, compared with four on its predecessor, plus a four-microphone array for meetings. It is 5.8mm thick and weighs 580g.

For work, the tablet runs HyperOS 4 with PC-level apps such as the full version of WPS and CapCut Pro. It supports the Xiaomi Focus Stylus Pro and a keyboard accessory. Color options are Spruce Green, Black, and Silver.

Pricing

The Xiaomi Pad 9 Pro costs 800 yuan (about $119) more than the Xiaomi Pad 9 when you compare the 8GB+128GB models. The Soft Light Edition adds 200 yuan (about $30) to both tablets.

  • 8GB+256GB: 3,299 yuan (about $491)
  • 8GB+256GB Soft Light Edition: 3,499 yuan (about $521)
  • 12GB+256GB: 3,799 yuan (about $566)

  • 8GB+256GB: 4,099 yuan (about $611)
  • 12GB+256GB: 4,599 yuan (about $685)
