OnePlus 16 set to launch on October 12 with 185FPS and 185Hz gaming

OnePlus China president Li Jie Louis confirmed on Weibo that the OnePlus 16 will be unveiled on Oct. 12. The announcement came during the 2026 OnePlus Gaming Conference, where the company detailed three major gaming technologies developed for its upcoming flagship. Here’s a look at all the new details confirmed by the brand.

OnePlus 16’s gaming features revealed  

OnePlus is positioning the OnePlus 16 around gaming performance while also targeting users who want a more capable all-round flagship. The new flagship will introduce a new-generation Fengchi Gaming Kernel, which OnePlus says can coordinate hardware resources across the device for the first time.

The company claims this allows games with native 185FPS support to maintain their maximum frame rate for extended periods. This approach is intended to improve sustained gaming performance without requiring a different chipset.

Another major upgrade is the new self-developed three-chip esports system. It handles networking, touch response, and display-related processing, with OnePlus claiming improvements in connection stability, touch responsiveness, and visual clarity. The phone will also feature a 185Hz display, matching its focus on high-frame-rate gaming and faster visual response.

OnePlus says the OnePlus 16 will support a broad range of games at native 185fps from launch. The confirmed titles include Peace Elite, Arena Breakout, Nizhan: Future, and Naruto Mobile. The company also demonstrated the phone’s response advantage in a 10-device test, claiming that the OnePlus 16 consistently fired and defeated opponents first when controlled by a robotic arm under the same network and gameplay conditions.

The Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6-powered OnePlus 16 is expected to bring several other flagship-level upgrades, including a previously reported 200-megapixel main camera and a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto camera. OnePlus has already teased multiple color options and memory configurations for the phone. More details should emerge ahead of the October 12 event.
