Xiaomi has announced the Mijia Smart Waist and Back Massager in China. The device is listed for crowdfunding on Xiaomi Youpin, with the campaign set to start on October 12 at 509 yuan (around $72). It comes in black and light sand colors.
Xiaomi’s previous waist-focused model was the Mijia Smart Waist Massager, which launched in 2024 with 20 massage balls designed to work on the lower back. The new model uses a different design, with a guide rail that allows the massage heads to move further up the back.
The massager comes with a 450mm flexible dual guide rail, with the massage heads automatically moving up and down on both sides of the spine. They cover the area from the shoulder blades down to the lumbosacral region. The rail has an R550mm curvature, which Xiaomi says follows national standards and matches the natural curve of the lower back.
There are four massage heads in total, including two large and two small heads. They are made from high-tenacity material and arranged in an undulating pattern designed to imitate acupressure. There are seven preset massage modes, while the Mi Home app allows users to create three custom modes.
Controls and heat
The massager can be connected to the Mi Home app, allowing you to control its settings from your phone. One of the available options is zone massage, which moves the heads back and forth within a smaller area to apply pressure to a specific spot and help relieve muscle fatigue.
You can also use the massager without the app. A physical button on the side lets you turn it on and start using it directly. For heat, the device has a built-in graphene heating element covering 10,000 mm². The heating function can be used on its own or together with the massage modes.
The Mijia Smart Waist and Back Massager weighs 2.2kg and is less than 75mm thick. Its body follows the curve of the lower back, so it can also be used as lumbar support when the massage function is turned off. Placing it under your legs lets the massage heads work on the calf muscles as well.
When the massager is in standby mode, the massage heads retract into the body. This keeps them from pressing against your back when you’re simply leaning on the device. It has a 3150mAh battery and comes with a 1.5-meter USB Type-C charging cable.
