Citizen has released a new Marvel-themed watch in the US, this time focusing on Doctor Doom. The watch is available now on Citizen’s website for $495. It combines the character’s signature green and gray color palette with the company’s standard Eco-Drive solar charging technology.

Design Details
The watch, officially model AW5027-44W, is built around a 42.5mm gray ion-plated stainless steel case with a 20mm lug width. The dial features a multi-layered gray design that incorporates the shape of Doctor Doom’s metal mask.

To break up the monochromatic gray base, Citizen added applied gold dot markers and luminous gold-tone hands for contrast, along with a minute track that shifts from green to gray. The hardware is paired with a textured green leather strap with side stitching, matching the character’s traditional comic book appearance. The case back also includes an etched Doctor Doom logo.

Inside the case, the watch uses Citizen’s J810 Eco-Drive movement. This is a familiar system across Citizen’s modern lineup that draws power from any natural or artificial light source, meaning it doesn’t require standard battery replacements. Functionally, it is a straightforward timepiece featuring a standard three-hand movement and a basic date window.
For durability, Citizen opted for a mineral crystal over the dial. While mineral crystal offers standard impact resistance, it is more prone to scratching than the sapphire crystal you might typically look for on a watch approaching the $500 mark.

However, the watch does have a solid water resistance rating of WR100 (10 Bar or 333 feet), which is sufficient for swimming, showering, and snorkeling. The watch is packaged in a custom display box and includes a collectible double-sided coin.
In related news, Citizen has recently launched two premium Attesa watches with atomic timekeeping and Eco-Drive technology, alongside a new Attesa Eco-Drive watch featuring atomic syncing and sapphire glass.
