Vivo X300 Series Receives Global OriginOS 6 Update With Silent Mode and Lockscreen Changes

Vivo has started rolling out a new OriginOS 6 update for the X300 series globally on December 10, 2025. The update adds a few new features to the global build of OriginOS 6, bringing some elements already available in the Chinese version to international users. The update focuses on sound control, lockscreen customization, and new widgets, though not all additions feel well thought out.

OriginOS 6 update

The update introduces three main changes. These include Global Silent Mode improvements, Text-Style Lockscreens, and two new widgets related to gaming.

The Global Silent Mode update is the most useful change in this release. Earlier, enabling Silent Mode muted calls and notifications, but media volume stayed active. With the new update, users can now disable media volume as well when Silent Mode is turned on. This option is available in the Sound and Vibration section of the settings menu. The change makes Silent Mode more complete and avoids the need to manually lower media volume in quiet situations.

Text-Style Lockscreens have also been added to the global version of OriginOS 6. These are the same lockscreen styles that were introduced recently in the Chinese version. The feature allows users to apply different text-based designs, fonts, and decorations on the lockscreen. It does not add new functionality, but it offers more visual customization and gives users more control over how their lockscreen looks. The designs are well done and fit the overall style of the interface.

The update also brings two new widgets, and their quality is mixed. The first is the Game Space widget. This widget provides a toggle that lets users quickly access installed games. It does not show any recommendations, which keeps the interface clean and focused. This widget feels appropriate for a premium device and works as expected.

The second widget is the Game Center widget. Unlike the Game Space widget, this one pushes game recommendations directly on the home screen. This approach feels intrusive and breaks the otherwise clean user interface. For a flagship phone, forced recommendations inside a widget are hard to justify.

OnePlus Temporarily Disables AI Writer in Notes App After User Reports

OnePlus has confirmed that it is temporarily disabling the AI Writer feature in the OnePlus Notes app after multiple users reported technical inconsistencies over the past two days. The company acknowledged the issue through official community updates and stated that the problem will take more time to resolve.

According to OnePlus, user feedback highlighted unexpected behavior while using AI Writer inside the Notes app. After receiving these reports, the company initiated an internal investigation and issued an early update explaining how OnePlus AI functions. The AI system is built on a hybrid architecture that combines OnePlus software with large language model capabilities provided by global third party partners.

While the investigation is ongoing, OnePlus said it is prioritizing a stable and reliable user experience. To prevent further issues and ensure consistency, the company has decided to temporarily disable the AI Writer feature in the Notes app. This step will remain in place until the technical inconsistencies are fully addressed.

In its follow up statement, OnePlus clarified that the unexpected behavior was unintentional and does not reflect its product standards. The company emphasized that the pause is a precautionary measure while engineers work on refining the underlying technical issue affecting AI Writer.

OnePlus also reiterated its community first approach, stating that user reports and feedback played a key role in identifying the problem quickly. The brand confirmed that active work is underway but did not share a specific timeline for when the AI Writer feature will be restored.

The AI Writer feature was designed to assist users with drafting, rewriting, and refining text directly within the Notes app by using both on device and cloud based AI processing. The temporary removal may impact users who depended on the tool for everyday note taking and content editing.

OnePlus concluded by apologizing for the inconvenience caused and thanked users for their patience and understanding. The company said it will provide updates once the issue is resolved and the AI Writer feature is ready to be re enabled with consistent performance.

Xiaomi launches 14kg washing machine with three drums & HyperOS

Xiaomi has launched a new addition to its smart home appliance lineup, the Mijia Three-Zone Washing Machine Pro 14kg wash-dry model. The appliance is now available for pre-order on Xiaomi Youpin in China at a price of 6,499 yuan ($920).

Xiaomi Washing Machine Pro

Xiaomi Washing Machine Pro Specifications

The new model features a unique three-drum layout that separates laundry tasks across one large 12kg drum and two smaller 1kg drums. Xiaomi designed this setup to help users avoid mixing delicate or high-hygiene clothing with regular laundry. Each drum comes with an independent water channel and a dedicated sterilisation system to prevent cross-contamination.

The machine targets households with large laundry volumes and specific hygiene needs. It supports advanced sterilisation that removes over 99.99% of viruses and bacteria, including strains such as HPV16, H1N1, E. coli, and Staphylococcus aureus. It also reduces allergens and eliminates dust mites.

Xiaomi Washing Machine Pro

Xiaomi has integrated its proprietary Super Electrolysis Technology into the system. This technology produces high-concentration active oxygen to remove 20 types of stains and reverse yellowing in white clothing. The machine also improves color-bleed resistance and eliminates chemical residue.

The washer includes a smart detergent system that stores four types of liquids and automatically dispenses the right amount based on fabric type, load weight, and seasonal conditions. It supports fast wash programs such as a 12-minute Lightning Wash and a 36-minute Essence Wash. Xiaomi claims these modes reduce water and electricity usage by up to 45%.

Xiaomi Washing Machine Pro

The 14kg model supports low-temperature drying for the main drum and a 42°C gentle drying mode for the smaller ones. The system monitors fabric dryness in real time and adjusts heat to prevent over-drying. It also comes with a pet-specific de-fur mode that achieves a 92.8% hair-removal rate.

Xiaomi built the chassis with steel reinforcement and added a high-level anti-vibration system to stabilise all three drums during operation. The machine supports HyperOS Connect and can be controlled via the Mi Home app or Xiao Ai voice assistant.

In related news, Xiaomi has recently introduced its most expensive ceiling light yet with a 10000-lumen output, eye protection features and HyperOS integration. They have also launched the Mijia Washer Dryer Set Pro with a 12kg wash and 12kg dry capacity.

Google Photos Gets New Templates, Music Library, and Text Tools for Videos

Google Photos is making it easier to create and edit videos directly inside the app, with new tools focused on speed, simplicity, and customization. Users can still create a highlight video by heading to the Create tab and selecting “highlight video,” then choosing the photos and videos they want. Google Photos automatically combines them into a single video.

Google Photos

The update adds five key features designed to improve the overall editing experience.

First, Google Photos is introducing ready-made templates, rolling out on Android. These templates come with preset layouts that include built-in music, text, and automatic cuts that are synced to a soundtrack. Users only need to select a template and choose their photos and videos. The app then creates a shareable video that matches the rhythm of the music. More templates are expected to be added over time.

Second, Google has rolled out a redesigned video editor on both Android and iOS. The updated editor is faster and easier to use, with a single universal timeline that supports editing across multiple clips. This makes it simpler to arrange clips and build a clear story. The editor also includes an adaptive canvas that adjusts automatically, helping users edit more comfortably. Key editing tools are placed in familiar locations, reducing time spent navigating menus.

Third, users can now add music more easily. Google Photos offers a built-in music library that can be browsed directly within the editor. This feature is available on Android and iOS and allows users to pick soundtracks that fit the mood of their highlight videos.

Fourth, Google Photos adds more text options on Android. Users can place text overlays on videos and customize them using new fonts, colors, and background styles. This helps add context or titles that are clear and easy to read.

Finally, the redesigned editor is now the default video editor for individual clips on Android. Users can open any video, tap edit, and quickly add music or text to a single clip.

All of these features are already available or currently rolling out, giving users full video creation tools within Google Photos.

Mysterious Vivo V2536A phone with flagship-grade 100W charging spotted

Vivo recently unveiled the Vivo X300 and Vivo X300 Pro in multiple markets. Its sub-brand has launched the iQOO 15 in different markets, but the iQOO Neo 11 has remained exclusive to China. It appears that either of these brands is gearing up to launch a flagship-class phone. This has been evident through a recent 3C certification of a mysterious Vivo device.

Vivo V2536A 3C certified

Vivo V2536A 3C certified
Vivo V2536A 3C certified

As can be seen above, an upcoming Vivo smartphone with model number Vivo V2536A has been approved by China’s 3C authority. The listing reveals that the device may ship with a 100W fast charger.

However, with no other information available, it is difficult to deduce what the final moniker of this device could be. While Vivo is gearing up to launch the Vivo X300 Ultra, iQOO is said to be working on the iQOO 15 Ultra.

While both devices are expected to feature the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, it is unclear whether the V2536A model number belongs to any of these phones or something else. It is advisable to wait for further reports to know the final marketing name of this phone.

In related news, Vivo is also said to be working on the Vivo X300s, which may feature the Dimensity 9500 Plus chipset. This phone is expected to arrive as an improved version of the existing Vivo X300. It is likely to debut alongside the Vivo X300 Ultra.

On the other hand, iQOO is said to be working on the Dimensity 9500+-powered iQOO 15 Mini, which is also said to be a compact smartphone. Likely, it may break cover along with the iQOO 15 Ultra.

Beware the fake ChatGPT Atlas browser stealing account logins and saved passwords

A new scam is making the rounds online, and this time it’s masquerading as the ChatGPT Atlas browser. Security researchers are warning users to be careful after spotting a convincing fake version promoted through search ads—one that looks legitimate at first glance but is designed to steal your account data.

The warning comes from research firm Fable. The fake browser isn’t using any sophisticated exploits. Instead, it relies on tricking people who assume anything that looks polished and appears at the top of search results must be safe.

The setup is simple. A search ad appears promising a download of “ChatGPT Atlas,” complete with branding that matches the real thing. Clicking on the link takes you to a website that looks nearly identical to the official one. The layout, the wording, even the design cues are copied almost perfectly. But there’s one major giveaway: the site is actually hosted on Google Sites. According to Fable, scammers often clone legitimate pages using tools like v0.dev, then deploy them on Google’s hosting platform to give the illusion of trustworthiness—especially for users who associate “Google” with safety.

Things get shady the moment you try to download the app. Instead of offering a normal installer file, the site tells users to paste a command into their terminal. Anyone even slightly tech-savvy would recognize this as a massive red flag. But for people who aren’t familiar with the feature, it might look like a harmless setup step.

The command itself is disguised as a base64-encoded string that gets decoded and executed through curl and bash. Once it runs, the malware pops up a request asking for your administrator password. If the user enters it, the trojan gains full sudo privileges and immediately installs a second-stage payload. From that point on, the attacker can scrape stored browser passwords, account logins, and other sensitive data.

This tactic is essentially a twist on the known “ClickFix” attack method. Nothing here is technically advanced—it’s almost shockingly simple. But it works because it leans heavily on social engineering: people trust familiar brands, trust search ads, and trust anything that looks clean and official. And that’s exactly what the attackers are banking on.

The takeaway is clear: if a website ever tells you to paste a terminal command to install something, stop right there. Always double-check the domain, and only download apps from verified sources.

OnePlus 15T / 15s specs leak reveals 7,500mAh battery, but no ultra-wide camera

OnePlus is expected to announce the OnePlus 15T in China in the first half of 2026. A slightly tweaked version of this phone is expected to launch in other markets as the OnePlus 15s. So far, the rumour mill has been gradually leaking the key specs of the OnePlus 15T / 15s. A new leak, which is based on internal testing, has revealed several key details, such as display, chip, cameras, battery and charging capabilities.

OnePlus 15T / 15s specifications (rumored)

OnePlus 13s
OnePlus 13s

As per the leak, the OnePlus 15T / 15s will continue to be a compact offering equipped with a 6.31-inch BOE X3 OLED panel offering a 1.5K resolution and a 165Hz refresh rate. Under the hood, the device is said to feature the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset.

The OnePlus 15T / 15s is said to draw power from a massive battery of around 7,500mAh capacity. It will come with support for 100W or 120W fast charging. The leak says that the device will lack support for wireless charging.

Moving on to the cameras, the 15T’s rear camera setup may include a 50-megapixel Sony IMX906 or a 200-megapixel Samsung HP5 primary camera. This will be joined by a 50-megapixel Samsung JN5 telephoto camera. Previous reports have claimed that the device will feature an ultra-wide camera since it was absent on the previous generation. However, the new leak claims that the 15T will lack an ultra-wide lens.

While it is not mentioned in the leak, it is expected to ship with ColorOS 16-based Android 16 in China. Its global version will feature the OxygenOS 16 UI. The other details of the device are under wraps.

Readers are advised to digest the above information with a pinch of salt as these specs have not been finalised yet as it is just based on internal testing. In China, the OnePlus 15T is expected to face competition from other compact flagship phones, such as the Oppo Find X9s, Vivo X300s, iQOO 15 Mini and Honor Magic 8 Mini.

Reports suggest that it will be a rebranded version of the Redmi Turbo 5, which bears a similar 2511FPC34I model number. As usual, the BIS listing has not revealed any details about the X8 Pro’s specifications.

The Redmi Turbo 5 is expected to debut either by the end of this year or by early January 2026 in China. This phone, which will be the world’s first to feature the Dimensity 8500 chip, will remain confined to the Chinese market. On the other hand, the global market may receive the Poco X8 Pro as its rebranded version.

Reports suggest that the Redmi Turbo 5 will arrive with a 1.5K LTPS OLED screen, an 8,000mAh or 9,000mAh battery with 100W charging support. It will feature a metal middle frame and an IP68/69-rated chassis. The same set of specs could be available on the Poco X8 Pro.

The Poco X8 Pro is expected to be accompanied by the Poco X8, which could be a rebranded version of the Redmi Note 15 Pro 5G. Speculations suggest that this Redmi phone will arrive with a 6.83-inch 1.5K 120Hz OLED LTPS screen, a Dimensity 7400 chip, a 200-megapixel + 8-megapixel (ultra-wide) + 2-megapixel (macro) triple camera setup, a 20-megapixel front camera, and a 6,580mAh battery with 45W charging.

LG launches 136-inch Magnit Active Micro LED TV in the US – a new benchmark for luxury home cinema

LG is officially bringing its boldest home cinema experience to the United States. The company’s massive 136-inch Magnit Active Micro LED display, which first debuted in South Korea earlier this year, is now available stateside for anyone looking to turn a media room into a full-blown private theater.

The setup is about as dramatic as it sounds. The Magnit isn’t a traditional TV—it’s assembled from four bezel-less 68-inch cabinets that lock together to form a single 136-inch 4K screen (3,840 × 2,160). Each cabinet uses LG’s Micro LED modules with a tight 0.78 mm pixel pitch and a native resolution of 480 × 540. Once everything is in place, the whole structure weighs roughly 175 kg (385 lbs). Because every pixel is its own microscopic LED, the display delivers the ultra-deep blacks and near-zero light bleed that Micro LED is known for.

On the performance side, LG isn’t holding back. The Magnit pushes up to 1,700 nits of peak brightness, hits 300 nits across the entire screen, and boasts a contrast ratio of 1,000,000:1. There’s support for HDR10 and HDR10 Pro, and motion should look smooth thanks to a 144 Hz variable refresh rate. The whole system runs on webOS 23, with the usual streaming options plus AirPlay 2, Miracast, cable/antenna inputs, and HDMI sources.

LG includes built-in audio: a 100-watt speaker setup tucked into the display. Power consumption averages around 650 watts during regular use but can spike up to 1,800 watts at max load. When you’re not actively watching anything, the screen can double as a massive digital art wall, showing personal photos or classic paintings.

LG is very clearly aiming this at luxury homes and high-end theater rooms—this isn’t the kind of display you casually mount in a bedroom. It also sits alongside LG’s traditional OLED line, which remains the go-to for people who want OLED’s signature contrast.

With the Magnit Active officially landing in the US, LG is signaling that the age of modular, wall-sized Micro LED displays is no longer just a concept—it’s real.

Samsung Galaxy A57, Galaxy A37 Galaxy A07 5G launch timeline leaks, early debut tipped

Samsung appears to be preparing several A-series releases for early 2026, with leaks outlining when the Galaxy A57, Galaxy A37 and Galaxy A07 5G may arrive. While Samsung has not confirmed any of the models, the latest information helps set expectations for how the company may refresh its mid-range and budget offerings next year. The leaked timelines indicate that the next wave of Galaxy A-series phones could be launched sooner than anticipated.

The Galaxy A57 is said to be powered by the upcoming Exynos 1680 chipset paired with the Samsung Xclipse 550 GPU. This marks a shift towards a newer mid-range platform, though Samsung is yet to formally introduce the processor. The phone is expected to run Android 16 out of the box, following the software direction seen across Samsung’s current portfolio.

While other specifications remain unconfirmed, leaks suggest the company intends to bring the A57 to market earlier than the A56, with February 2026 currently appearing likely.

The Galaxy A37 may also see an earlier debut in February alongside the A57, moving up from the usual March or April window. According to the leak, the device will feature the Exynos 1480 chipset along with the Xclipse 530 GPU, the same combination used in several mid-range Samsung devices this year. The A37 is also expected to ship with Android 16. Details regarding its camera configuration, display and battery remain unknown, although more information is expected as the launch window approaches.

Samsung Galaxy A07 5G

Ahead of the mid-range models, the Galaxy A07 5G could be the first to arrive, with a launch expected either later this month or in early January 2026. This follows the release of the Galaxy A07 4G, which entered India earlier at Rs 8,999. Hardware specifics for the new 5G variant have not yet surfaced, but it is positioned as a budget offering and may serve as Samsung’s most affordable 5G phone in its early 2026 lineup.

Xiaomi planning to shut down over 1000 underperforming stores

Xiaomi has announced a major shift in its retail strategy, moving away from aggressive expansion toward a focus on quality and profitability. According to reports, the company may begin closing more than 1,000 underperforming and loss-making Xiaomi Home stores across China in 2026.

Xiaomi Store

Wang Xiaoyan, Senior Vice President of Xiaomi Group and President of Xiaomi China, confirmed the decision in a notice shared with dealer partners. The internal communication states that stores opened before January 1, 2025, will undergo evaluation. Outlets that meet both low efficiency and loss-making criteria will be closed. Xiaomi has committed to absorbing 27.26 million yuan ($3.8 million) in one-time adjustment costs to support the shutdown process.

Xiaomi aims to help dealers cut losses and stabilize operations. According to the company, this move could reduce annual partner losses by up to 72.46 million yuan ($10 million). The strategy reflects a trade-off between short-term financial impact and long-term sustainability.

Dealers who choose to continue operating flagged stores will lose access to company-assigned store managers starting January 1, 2026. Xiaomi will no longer cover staffing responsibilities for these locations, shifting full operational risk to the partners.

Xiaomi also plans to reduce costs in its electric vehicle retail division. The company will streamline its EV store staffing model from the current 1+2+11 structure to a leaner 1+1+5 configuration. The new model will cut labor costs and improve overall efficiency.

The decision marks a significant reallocation of resources. Xiaomi will now prioritize its EV segment and high-margin products, aligning its operations with growth areas. This shift signals the company’s broader intent to build a leaner, more profitable retail network for the future.

In related news, Xiaomi is reportedly developing a new AI assistant named Mi Chat.
