Lenovo Legion Phone Duel

Legion Phone Duel Design

Just as ASUS has adopted the name of its gaming PC line, ROG, Lenovo has done the same by adopting “Legion” which is the name of its gaming PC line. The name is pasted boldly on the back of the device and the familiar “Y” logo which houses a multicolor LED can also be seen on the back. The Legion Phone Duel is available in two colorways – black and blue, which appear to have different finishes.

Specifications and Features

When it comes to specs, the Legion Phone Duel is pretty impressive. It has a 6.59-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate and a 240Hz touch sampling rate. While Lenovo has gone for a full-screen design (no notch or punch hole), the phone still has some bezels at the top and bottom. The device also boasts front-facing stereo speakers.

The Snapdragon 865 Plus processor clocked at 3.1GHz is paired with up to 16GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 512GB of storage. The device scored a whopping 648871 points on AnTuTu.

There are two cameras on the back of the device and they are placed in an unusual position just like the 20MP f/2.2 selfie camera which slides out of the side rather than the top. The 64MP f/1.89 camera and its 16MP ultrawide angle companion are positioned in the middle of the phone just next to the Legion logo.

Lenovo says the position of the selfie camera allows the user to live stream while playing games in landscape. A software feature will allow you to in-lay your camera view while streaming.

Legion Phone Duel battery

There is a 5000mAh battery inside this gaming beast and as you can see in the image above, the Legion Phone Dual actually has its batteries split into two, each with a capacity of 2500mAh. It supports 90W Turbo Power fast charging that allows you to charge the device up to 50% in 10 minutes or to 100% in just 30 minutes. All you have to do is connect a charger to both USB-C ports on the device. Don’t worry, the charger actually has two USB-ports so you don’t need two separate chargers.

Legion Phone Duel charger

Other features of the gaming smartphone are NFC, Bluetooth 5.0, Wi-Fi 6, dual SIM support, liquid cooling, and an in-display fingerprint scanner. It also has dual x-axis linear motors, trigger buttons, and can be connected to an external display. It runs Android 10 out of the box with ZUI 12 or Legion OS.

Over 150K Realme C11 units sold in just 2 minutes in its first sale in India

Realme launched the Realme C11 in India last week but the phone did not go on sale immediately. It went on its first sale earlier today via the company’s local site and Flipkart. and records from Realme shows that it was sold out in just minutes. This time around, the company disclosed the number of units sold and it is over 150,000 units.

Selling over 150,000 units in just two minutes is no mean feat and we believe more units would have been mopped up by fans if available. But interested buyers would have to wait till July 29 or the next sale.

The phone’s price has definitely played a role in the massive interest in the model. The Realme C11 adopts a Rs 7,499 ($100) price tag for the sole 2GB and 32GB variant. The phone is powered by an Helio G35 chipset and sports a 6.5-inch HD+ LCD display with HD+ resolution. It runs on Android 10-based Realme UI and gets its power from a 5000mAh battery with reverse charging support.

The phone which comes in Green and Grey colours packs a dual-camera setup at the rear comprising a 13MP main sensor and a 2MP depth sensor. There is also a 5MP selfie shooter.

Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra to support Xbox Game Streaming service and improved S-Pen

With the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 series launch being just around the corner, new reports regarding the lineup have been surfacing. The latest one reveals a few details regarding a supposed Microsoft Xbox optimization along with a new “real feel” S-Pen.

Samsung

According to a WinFuture report, the South Korean tech giant is placing a lot of emphasis on its stylus for the smartphone. The new S-Pen will feature a response time lower than 9ms, to make the interface and writing smoother than before and feel closer to writing on paper. The company is also reportedly working with Microsoft to bring certain other features like OneNote synchronization and gesture commands as well.

Samsung

The Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra will also be the first smartphone to feature optimizations for cloud gaming via Xbox Game Pass. In other words, the company is attempting to include Microsoft’s Project xCloud into the device. This means that 5G networking in the device will leverage built in game streaming framework to optimize games from different platforms to the handset.

For those unaware, Project xCloud is Microsoft’s counterpart of the Google Stadia game streaming service. In layman’s terms, Samsung is trying to make the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra into a pocket game console that might also be able to leverage the higher refresh rate in the device for improved gameplay and visual fidelity. While unconfirmed, this is also reinforced by Samsung’s latest tease for the Unpacked event 2020 on Twitter, which said “the power to play from anywhere” alongside game controller symbols in the short video.

Redmi K30 Pro Zoom scores 120 points in DxOMark tests, reaches the Top 10 rankings

DxOMark has just released the scores for the Redmi K30 Pro Zoom. The device scored 120 points in the ratings and has reached the top 10 rated smartphone camera.

Redmi

The Redmi K30 Pro Zoom features a quad camera module on the rear with a 64 megapixel Quad Bayer sensor on the front, along with an 8 megapixel telephoto lens, 13 megapixel ultra wide camera and a depth sensor as well. It scored 129 points in photography while videography had it achieve 101 points. This makes it sit right at the tenth spot in the top rate smartphone list.

The Redmi K30 Pro Zoom was praised for its quick and accurate autofocus, great exposure, good magnification capabilities, and decent color reproduction. However, tests revealed low detail in indoor zoom shots, color shift issues, and certain loss in texture and tones. While its bokeh and other effects were praised, it’s ultra wide shots lacked in detail and suffered from noise. Despite this, the great outdoor performance had it net a high score.

Redmi

In terms of videography, DxOMark tests reported on great color reproduction again, alongside a good performance in stabilization during moving shots thanks to its OIS (optical image stabilization. Autofocus was still a strong suit in this category as well, and so was exposure. Although, there was certain issue with focus instabilities, color fringing, and some noticeable aliasing artifacts. But all in all, the device was said to be a great performer for its price range.

Kospet Prime 2 could feature 2.1-inch display with 480 x 480 pixels resolution, confirms a new leak

Kospet Prime 2 has appeared in another leak featuring a 2.1-inch display and revealed several other details. However, some details about its specifications have already revealed via previous rumours and leaks. There will be several improvements and enhancements over its predecessor which was launched last year.

kospet prime 2

According to a new leak, the Kospet Prime 2 will house a 2.1-inch large display with 480 x 480 pixels resolution. It will be much larger than the standard smartwatches which carry a display of 1.4-inch. The larger display will improve smartwatch usability and even facilitates a better viewing experience. However, there are several other advantages of a larger display.

Furthermore, Kospet Prime 2 is expected to house energy-efficient and powerful Helio P22 chipset coupled with a rotatable camera on the front and a static camera by the side of buttons.

The new image renders showcases the beautiful smartwatch design from both the front and the rear side. Dual buttons and round dial are prominently visible via the new design renders. However, we can see the air pressure sensor too along with the heart rate sensor present at the bottom side of the smartwatch.

Kospet Prime was launched last year with 1.6-inch HD display, 3GB RAM, 32GB storage, dual-camera support and 4G connectivity. We expect its successor to feature 5G support, but it is highly unlikely at the moment.

MediaTek is developing 6G through R&D center in Nokia’s home country in Finland

MediaTek recently revealed its reports for the second quarter and the first half of 2020. The company has been witnessing increasing shipments of its Dimensity 5G chips but has apparently also been quietly working on 6G networking as well.

MediaTek Chipset White

According to a new report, the known chipmaker has begun work through a 6G research and development center in Nokia‘s home country Finland. For those unaware, Nokia is a Finnish company that is a known figure in the global communications and networking fields and 6G networking is the next generation of telecommunications, which is being researched by MediaTek through academic sites in Finland.

The Finnish government and local universities have already begun research and plan to commercialize the networking by 2030. Although, it is to be noted that the development for 6G is still very much in its nascent stages and at the moment, there are no defined technical indicators. Hence, the next few years should bring some interesting new developments in the field and possibly reveal some technical capabilities as well.

MediaTek

Previously, Samsung had released a White Paper for 6G networking, where it detailed all the parameters that the newer generation would meet, including speeds up to 1000Gbps, latency less than 0.1ms and overall speed being 50 percent faster than the current 5G technology. However, it is still too early to have an exact idea of what 6G would be capable of, so stay tuned for more updates.

Apple and its suppliers to become Carbon Neutral by 2030

Apple has apparently vowed to become carbon neutral entirely by 2030. The Cupertino based giant has announced its plans for the move, which will be universal across its entire business to achieve the goal in the next 10 years.

According to Apple, “zero climate impact” is the end goal. The company will work with suppliers to reach complete carbon neutrality by 2030. In other words, the company’s operations will have no impact on Earth’s climate. The 10 year long roadmap is based on a series of innovations that Apple is going adopt across its product design, supplier operations, and materials processing.

Apple

Meaning, it will also have its supply chain commit to a certain standard of eco friendliness. The company made the announcement in the 2020 Environmental Progress Report earlier today (22nd July 2020). Apple plans on reducing its emissions by 75 percent in the next 10 years, while also developing new carbon removal techniques for the remaining 25 percent of its carbon footprint.

At the moment, the company reduces its carbon impact primarily by recycling. Apple said that its latest recycling innovation came with “Dave,” a robot that disassembles iPhones to collect rare earth materials. Dave is the newer generation, which arrives after the company previously introduced “Daisy” for the same task.

Furthermore, Apple also announced that it will be investing 100 million US Dollars into its supply chain, which includes its new US-China Green Fund partnership. This sizeable sum of funds will go towards strengthening the energy efficiency efforts for its suppliers. Apple claims that over 70 suppliers have pledged to use 100 percent renewable energy for the production of Apple product’s components.

Apple

Apple CEO, Tim Cook, stated that “the innovations powering our environmental journey are not only good for the planet — they’ve helped us make our products more energy efficient and bring new sources of clean energy online around the world. Climate action can be the foundation for a new era of innovative potential, job creation, and durable economic growth. With our commitment to carbon neutrality, we hope to be a ripple in the pond that creates a much larger change.”

It features similarities with several prominent devices from Huawei and Xiaomi. The square Matrix camera design is quite prevalent and gives the smartphone a premium yet unique look.

Oukitel C21 rear design looks simple in the black and grey gradient colour scheme. The device’s premium look confirms the presence of mid to high-end hardware on board.

The details of the internal hardware are unknown at the moment, but we expect more details to surface before the official launch.

Oukitel recently launched C19 a few weeks ago with 6.49-inch display, 4000 mAh battery and Android 10 Go on board for $59. There’s a 13-megapixel Sony IMX214 rear sensor coupled with two other sensors. It houses MediaTek MT6737 chipset, 2GB RAM and 16GB internal storage.

This new site is designed for a capacity of 30,000 12 inch wafers every month.

Foxconn

Furthermore, the move for a new plant from Foxconn is indicative of its efforts to grow its semiconductor business. Xiaomi Mi Mix Alpha variant patent spotted with Dual Displays and AI Zoom camera

While the Xiaomi Mi Mix Alpha was unveiled back in 2019, the device had never seen a commercial launch. It was a concept device from the company which featured many innovative designs and technology for the time. Now, a new patent has revealed a possible commercial variant of the concept smartphone, which also features dual displays and an AI zoom camera.

In the past, multiple supposed variants of the Xiaomi Mi Mix Alpha had been patented by the Chinese tech giant. Hence, this could also be just another attempt at covering all possible bases. Although, the things that set this patent apart were its unique design and its camera technology. While the previous patents generally had a single display that wrapped around the body, like in the case of the original Mi Mix Alpha, this features two separate displays.

Xiaomi

The primary display is large and covers almost the entirety of the front side, with negligible notch and chin. It also wraps around and covers the side as well. Moving to the back, a smaller secondary display covers a bit more than half of the rear panel from the lower half. On top of this display, is the smartphone’s unique camera system.

This camera is labeled as an AI zoom lens, which, according to LetsGoDigital, may feature a 108 megapixel sensor that is also capable of an unknown degree of magnification. Furthermore, Xiaomi is apparently planning two variants of this device, with one having a transparent camera module panel and the other having an opaque black one. This points at the possibility of a base and Pro variant, although, it is still too soon to tell. A YouTube Channel named Concept Creator also collaborated with LetsGoDigital for a concept video and you can check it out above.

Tianma develops multi-point in-display fingerprint recognition technology for LCD screens

The fingerprint recognition technology has rapidly advanced in the past few years and now we are getting smartphones with a fingerprint sensor embedded under the phone’s display.

One of the limitations with the in-display fingerprint sensor is that it works at a specific point on the display, although the technology has advanced and the fingerprint recognition area also keeps on increasing with a newer version of the technology.

Tianma Multi-Point In-Display Fingerprint Sensor

Now, China-based Tianma Microelectronics has developed a multi-point in-display fingerprint recognition solution that can be used to unlock the full-screen smartphone through multiple points over the display.

The company says that it is an in-house technology where the image processing component of this new in-display sensing solution is embedded in a TFT display substrate, enabling the functionalities of touch, display, and fingerprint sensing simultaneously.

Further, Tianma claims to have used optical path design for this in-display technology which reduces the thickness of the module by about 50 percent compared to other types of optical fingerprint solutions.

EDITOR’S PICK: OPPO unveils World’s Fastest 125W Flash Wired Charging and 65W AirVOOC Wireless Charging

It’s noteworthy that the multi-point fingerprint recognition solution is for the LCD screens, which is a welcome move. So far, the technology of the under-display fingerprint sensor has been limited to OLED panels as their thinness allows light to pass through easier.

Recently, TCL’s China Star Optoelectronics Technology Co., Ltd (CSOT) also announced its new in-display fingerprint technology for LCD screens called “Full-Screen Single-Point In-Display Fingerprint Technology.” It is claimed to cover around 92% area of the screen, which practically means that you can put your finger anywhere on the display to unlock.

So far, there’s no commercially available smartphone that comes with an in-display fingerprint sensor on an LCD display. However, with the technology from the likes of Tianma and CSOT planned to go into mass production this year, that could change soon.

It lacks a 3.5mm audio jack.

Rumors have revealed that the Reno4 Pro’s international edition is a 4G LTE phone fueled by Snapdragon 720G. The leaked press renders of the global edition of the Reno 4 Pro shows it in black and white color editions.

[envira-gallery id=”333277″]

A look at the rear-facing camera setup of the phone suggests that it is packed with four cameras. While the LED flash can be seen, it does not seem to feature a laser autofocus sensor. The Reno4 Pro global edition features a 3.5mm audio jack alongside a USB-C port, a microphone, and an external speaker on its bottom edge.

The handset features a curved AMOLED display with a punch-hole design. It has a power key on its right spine and buttons for controlling on the left edge. The topside of the phone has a SIM slot and a microphone.

Samsung could soon start selling smaller electronic products by acquiring Philips’ appliances unit

South Korean tech giants, Samsung and LG are possible candidates that could acquire Royal Philips‘ domestic appliance unit. This might have either of the two companies soon offering small home products in the near future.

Samsung M-series

While nor Samsung or LG have confirmed anything or given an official announcement, the Dutch conglomerate Philips has already revealed its plans of selling its domestic appliance business in 2021. According to a Pulse report, market insiders have speculated that Samsung might be planning on acquiring the appliances division from Philips.

However, that is still uncertain, especially considering, Samsung’s focus being more towards higher end products and white goods. Notably, the decision from Philips to sell its appliance business arrives after the company’s efforts to begin focusing on the healthcare sector. This path led Philips to sell off its audio and video business and lighting unit.

Samsung

Similar to Samsung, LG Electronics is also a potential candidate for the buyout. At the moment, Samsung is selling large home appliances like refrigerators, ovens, washing machines, and more. So, acquiring the Philips appliance unit could have it soon start selling smaller products across the globe. Philips has factories set up in Austria, Brazil, and China, with R&D centers employing about 4,700 personnel in India, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Italy.

The Chinese firm has recently revealed that it will be sporting a punch-hole display. Today, it released a poster to show that it will be featuring a rectangle-shaped camera module for its quad rear cameras.

Realme has never used a rectangle camera housing on its smartphones before. The setup includes three vertical positioned cameras. The fourth lens is placed alongside the first lens whereas an LED flash unit is positioned next to the third lens. In between, there is an ‘AI camera’ text.

The above-shown design resembles the Realme RMX2121 phone’s rear shot that appeared in TENAA’s database last month. Hence, it seems that the RMX2121 could indeed be the model number of the upcoming flagship phone from the brand.

The Realme RMX2121 has a curved AMOLED display with a punch-hole at the top-left corner. The size of the screen is 6.55 inches. The handset has 160.8 x 75.2 x 8.5mm dimensions.

The device has a dual-part battery. The rated value of one of its batteries is 2,200mAh. Leaked information has revealed that the total typical value of the battery could be 4,500mAh. The 3C listing of the phone has revealed that the RMX2121 phone could be shipping with a 65W fast charger.

The product name of the RMX2121 phone is currently under wraps. The handset may go official by the end of this month or in early August. Hopefully, the TENAA listing of the device will get updated with all its specs in the coming days.
