<p>As per the DXOMARK Audio <a href="https://www.dxomark.com/xiaomi-mi-10s-audio-score-no-1-in-audio/">test</a>, the upcoming <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/xiaomi-mi-10s">Xiaomi Mi 10S</a> gets an overall score of 80 which is a point more than the ASUS ROG Phone 5&#8217;s score of 79. The report says that the Mi 10 series&#8217; 2021 addition has also outsmarted its yesteryear <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-mi-10-pro">Mi 10 Pro</a>(76 points).</p>
<p>The device reportedly performs well in both playback and recording scenarios(80 points in each category). Also, we already know that the Mi 10S, which is <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/03/08/xiaomi-mi-10s-is-launching-on-march-10-with-three-exciting-features/">launching on March 10</a>, will have speakers tuned by <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/harmon-kardon">Harmon Kardon</a>. And the report says that the device will have dual symmetrical speakers with the largest 0.7 mm speaker amplitude.</p>
<p>Talking about specs, the Xiaomi Mi 10S official renders have already revealed that the device will feature a quad-camera setup on the back with a 108MP main lens. Thanks to the previous reports, the device is likely to feature a 6.67-inch display.</p>
<p>And looking at the renders above, we can expect a curved AMOLED panel just like the other Mi 10 devices. The device will also feature a <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/snapdragon-870">Snapdragon 870</a> chipset and will probably feature a 4,680mAh battery with <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/02/04/3c-certification-reveals-mi-10-sd870-version-redmi-k40-and-redmi-k40-pro-will-support-33w-fast-charging/">33W fast charging</a> support, Android 11 OS out of the box.</p>
<p>The device will sell in Black, White, and Blue color options, and considering it has a slightly upgraded CPU and other features compared to <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-mi-10-5g">Mi 10 5G</a>, we can expect the pricing to be higher than the base model but not as high as the Mi 10 Pro.</p>
<p>Let&#8217;s wait for the full review from DXOMARK which should be live soon after the official launch.</p>

And it almost matches the top-scoring device in their list.</p>
<figure id="attachment_353143" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-353143" style="width: 1554px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-353143" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/iphone-12-dxomark-audio.jpg?x44794" alt="iPhone 12 DXOMARK AUDIO" width="1554" height="655" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/iphone-12-dxomark-audio.jpg 1554w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/iphone-12-dxomark-audio-300x126.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/iphone-12-dxomark-audio-768x324.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/iphone-12-dxomark-audio-1024x432.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/iphone-12-dxomark-audio-696x293.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/iphone-12-dxomark-audio-1068x450.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/iphone-12-dxomark-audio-996x420.jpg 996w" sizes="(max-width: 1554px) 100vw, 1554px" /><figcaption id="caption-attachment-353143" class="wp-caption-text">Credit: DXOMARK</figcaption></figure>
<p>The <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/product/apple-iphone-12">iPhone 12</a> has obtained an overall audio score of 73 in the <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/dxomark-audio">DXOMARK Audio</a> <a href="https://www.dxomark.com/apple-iphone-12-audio-review-subtle-improvements-to-sound/">test</a>. This is a very slight improvement if we look at the 72 score of the iPhone 11. However, it manages to sneak into the top 10 list of DXOMARK smartphone audio rankings. Accordingly, it sits currently in sixth place just above the yesteryear Apple flagship, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/apple-iphone-11-pro-max/">iPhone 11 Pro Max</a>.</p>
<p>However, it surprisingly fails to secure a rank above the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/apple-iphone-xs-max/">iPhone Xs Max</a> and misses out just by a score of one. Xiaomi&#8217;s <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-mi-10-pro-5g/">Mi 10 Pro</a> currently tops the list with a score of 76. Talking about the audio performance of the iPhone 12, DXOMARK says it offers an overall good performance albeit not bringing that big of a change from <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/apple-iphone-11/">iPhone 11</a>. You can take a look at the audio hardware(specifications), features of iPhone 12 below:</p>
<ul>
<li>2xSpeakers(1-Bottom, 1-Top)</li>
<li>2xMicrophones(1-Primary,1-Secondary) with NC(Noise Cancellation)</li>
<li>Audio Zoom</li>
<li>Dolby Atmos Surround Sound</li>
</ul>
<p>That said, the iPhone 12 scores 73 in both the audio and playback sections. As per the report, it performs well in subcategories like Timbre, and spatial rendering. It also seems to have a good and satisfying maximum volume.</p>
<h4><strong>Audio: Pros and Cons</strong></h4>
<p>The highlight of the speakers is reportedly seen in Gaming mode with a little help from the proper placement of speakers. Similarly, in recording tests, it shows good character with frequency response, punchy sounds with good attributes, and loudness. The recordings also have natural effects.</p>
<p>However, its drawbacks are few distortions while playing audio in the low spectrum. Plus, the device&#8217;s <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/microphone">microphone</a> placement is a bit obstructive at times. And recordings have modest distortion at times in loud volumes. The device also performs badly in Artifacts(sudden unwanted sound) and DXOMARK says it&#8217;s due to the heavy compression of the iPhone 12.</p>
<p>To sum up, if you look at the pros, it has excellent timbre, a wider sound stage, good loudness. But has Cons like high-volume distortion(Playback &amp; recording), inverted channels in landscape mode, and obstructing microphone placements.</p>

The new benchmark would be called DxOMark Speaker and will have the firm test a variety of speakers.</p>

<p>For those unaware, DxOMark is a known brand that reviews and tests professional grade and consumer grade cameras as well as the cameras found in smartphones. The ratings it provides are known to be taken with great regards in the industry, so the expansion will also open up more avenues for the firm. The company will use scientific rating and aggregate hundreds of test results for each speaker that they test.</p>

<p>According to Nicolas Touchard, VP Marketing at DxOMark, &#8220;the speaker market offers a wide range of products and audio technologies. Consumers purchasing speakers require more information beyond what is communicated by manufacturers. With our new performance benchmark, we provide relevant objective information that helps buyers make more informed purchasing decisions, similar to what we have been providing for smartphone and camera consumers across the world.”</p>

Now, the firm will have a dedicated team of sound engineers perform tests for wireless speakers using state-of-the-art lab systems and proprietary test protocols, which will be based around the consumers&#8217; experience.</p>

Dual stereo speaker system plays an important role in spatial performance. Since it is non-existent in the Huawei’s latest flagship, the phone suffers a lot in this department.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">The phone also fails in the dynamics department due to the lack of bass and muffled trebles. The volume performance is not good either with much lower volume in both maximum and minimum levels compared to other devices.</span></p>

<p>In the playback tests, the OnePlus 8 Pro was found to have good dynamics for movies and music, but the performance withered during gaming. The maximum volume level sounds lower due to slightly smaller speakers. But the phone scores better in timbre and artifacts compared to the higher model.</span></p>

<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">According to the </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/DxOMark/"><span style="font-weight: 400">DxOMark </span></a><span style="font-weight: 400">review, the Galaxy S20 Plus ‘doesn’t impress with its audio performance’ as a flagship smartphone. Though it is slightly better than its predecessor </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/samsung-galaxy-s10-plus/"><span style="font-weight: 400">Galaxy S10 Plus</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400">, it is no match for the current-gen premium handsets from other OEMs.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">The audio playback from the handset has a well-balanced mid-range and treble with a good rendering of the sound stage. Balance can be even noticed between the stereo channels but the audio from the device lacks bass at all volume levels. Also, the loud high-frequency response at maximum volume spoils the gaming experience.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">On the other hand, the phone’s recording capability is better than its playback. The tonal range reproduction is excellent on the </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/samsung-galaxy-s20-plus/"><span style="font-weight: 400">Galaxy S20 Plus</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400"> with clear and intelligible voices. The sound dynamics are well-preserved with good directivity from the microphones. But it is inconsistent in the spatial rendering of sound sources and recording volume level is average at best.</span></p>

As a result, the handset ranks 15th, which is a far cry from the top 10.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">Being a phone with a single speaker system, </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/Honor-V30-Pro/"><span style="font-weight: 400">Honor V30 Pro</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400"> performs terribly in spatial. The wideness in playback is non-existent as well as balance and localizability are impaired since the sound comes from a single side.</span></p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-320285 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/Honor-V30-Pro-DxOMark-Audio.png?x44794" alt="Honor V30 Pro DxOMark Audio" width="831" height="487" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/Honor-V30-Pro-DxOMark-Audio.png 831w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/Honor-V30-Pro-DxOMark-Audio-300x176.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/Honor-V30-Pro-DxOMark-Audio-768x450.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/Honor-V30-Pro-DxOMark-Audio-696x408.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/Honor-V30-Pro-DxOMark-Audio-717x420.png 717w" sizes="(max-width: 831px) 100vw, 831px" /></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">The timbre performance is decent but the lack of bass is clearly felt, which in turn affects the overall timbre and dynamics of the playback audio.  But clear and precise high-ends result in good attack.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">Once again, volume performance is decent with good consistency and natural volume steps. However, excessive compression affects audio content at maximum volume levels as well as leads to distortion by producing hissing noises.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">As for recording, the phone performs much better than its playback. The recording frequency is very good and consistent with exceptional bass extension. The dynamics are well-preserved due to great SNR (signal-to-noise ratio).</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">The spatial performance is remarkable with excellent localizability and wideness. Recorded loudness is also superb with very few artifacts, even in loud environments. Background rendering is great as well, thanks to a natural tonal balance and all the above-mentioned recording qualities.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">Overall, the </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/Honor"><span style="font-weight: 400">Honor </span></a><span style="font-weight: 400">V30 Pro is a good phone for recording but an average handset for playback.</span></p>

Ther tests include both the playback and recording capabilities of the phones using the default app. As of now, the company hast tested  22 devices so far and the Oppo Find X2 Pro is the latest to join the squad.</span></p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-318810 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/Oppo-Find-X2-Pro-DxOMark-Audio.png?x44794" alt="Oppo Find X2 Pro DxOMark Audio" width="887" height="478" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/Oppo-Find-X2-Pro-DxOMark-Audio.png 887w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/Oppo-Find-X2-Pro-DxOMark-Audio-300x162.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/Oppo-Find-X2-Pro-DxOMark-Audio-768x414.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/Oppo-Find-X2-Pro-DxOMark-Audio-696x375.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/Oppo-Find-X2-Pro-DxOMark-Audio-779x420.png 779w" sizes="(max-width: 887px) 100vw, 887px" /></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">As mentioned earlier, </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/oppo/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Oppo</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">’s latest premium flagship smartphone bags an overall score of 74 points with sub-sores of 75 and 69 points for playback and recording respectively.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">While testing playback on the </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/oppo-find-x2-pro/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Find X2 Pro</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">, the DxOMark Audio team found it to be an ideal phone for watching movies and playing games with strong bass. That said, the mid-range frequencies do lack clarity, which results in producing muffled boomy sound.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">As for dynamics, at a soft volume, the phone outperforms every other phone tested by the company so far. Though it maintains its excellence at nominal volume, the same cannot be said at higher volume as the device tends to lose precision with muffled attacks. The top and bottom dual stereo speakers of the handset offer a good balance but wideness isn’t that good, however, distance perception is stellar in movies and is also consistent globally. </span></p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-308985 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/OPPO-Find-X2-Pro-18.jpg?x44794" alt="" width="600" height="399" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/OPPO-Find-X2-Pro-18.jpg 600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/OPPO-Find-X2-Pro-18-300x200.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The volume levels on the phone feel natural and good at maximum level but the initial volume levels are too loud for high loudness content. Lastly, the playback on the device has lower artifacts as it does a good job controlling undesirable sounds.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Talking about recording, the Find X2 Pro beats the DxOMark Audio leader </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-mi-10-pro-5g/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Mi 10 Pro</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> and </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/apple-iphone-xs-max/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">iPhone XS Max</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> throughout the entire bass frequency range maintaining its response around 0dB. The voices in recording are preserved clearly but the device performs average in loud environments.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The handset sets a new record in wideness, especially in life video use cases. However, the localizability is poor using the selfie camera due to muffled sound. Whereas it performs fairly well in volume, and recordings have fewer artifacts with accurate and balanced background rendition.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Going by the overall points scored by the Galaxy S20 Ultra in DxOMark audio test, it falls behind the likes of Apple </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/apple-iphone-xs-max/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">iPhone Xs Max</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">, iPhone 11 Pro Max, Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro, and even </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/huawei-mate-20-x-5g/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Huawei Mate 20 X</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">. However, it edges the company’s own <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/samsung-galaxy-note-10-plus/">Galaxy Note 10 Plus</a> from 2019.</span></p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-314452 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/Samsung-Galaxy-S20-Ultra-DxOMark-Audio.png?x44794" alt="" width="887" height="471" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/Samsung-Galaxy-S20-Ultra-DxOMark-Audio.png 887w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/Samsung-Galaxy-S20-Ultra-DxOMark-Audio-300x159.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/Samsung-Galaxy-S20-Ultra-DxOMark-Audio-768x408.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/Samsung-Galaxy-S20-Ultra-DxOMark-Audio-696x370.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/Samsung-Galaxy-S20-Ultra-DxOMark-Audio-791x420.png 791w" sizes="(max-width: 887px) 100vw, 887px" /></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">As per </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/dxomark/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">DxOMark</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">, the S20 Ultra performs above-average but it&#8217;s nothing extraordinary for a phone costing $1400. The speakers on the phone deliver precision and clarity in both mid-range and high-end frequencies. And thus they produce sound with accurate distance rendering, precise localizability, and good wideness. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Also, the phone handles maximum volume and artifacts smoothly without any issue. However, the balance of the audio played is off-center and there is a lack of intelligibility in high dynamic content at minimum volumes. Additionally, the bass frequencies are lower compared to </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/apple-iphone-11-pro-max/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">iPhone 11 Pro Max</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> and </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-mi-10-pro-5g/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Mi 10 Pro</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">In the recording, the phone does not perform as good as in playback. The sound picked up in selfie videos lacks high-end frequencies and thus it is poor in distance rendering and localizability. Further, the attack and blurred envelope of the sound recorded make the backgrounds as well as voice sound unnatural and nasal respectively.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">In loud environments, aggressive low-end compression kicks in which affects the punch and produces audible temporal artifacts. Lastly, the timbre performance is good, dynamics are modest at best, and loudness is poor indoors</span></p>

It comes with all the bells and whistles one wishes in a gaming-centric handset including shoulder triggers and active-liquid cooling with a turbo-fan. But unfortunately, the phone seems to have poor audio performance according to the latest review by </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/dxomark/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">DxOMark</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">. It scores only 50 points and sits at the third position from the last but with an exceptional Artifacts performance.</span></p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-312561" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/Nubia-Red-Magic-3S-DxOMark-Audio-Review-50-Points.png?x44794" alt="Nubia Red Magic 3S DxOMark Audio Review 50 Points" width="930" height="467" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/Nubia-Red-Magic-3S-DxOMark-Audio-Review-50-Points.png 930w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/Nubia-Red-Magic-3S-DxOMark-Audio-Review-50-Points-300x151.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/Nubia-Red-Magic-3S-DxOMark-Audio-Review-50-Points-768x386.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/Nubia-Red-Magic-3S-DxOMark-Audio-Review-50-Points-696x349.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/Nubia-Red-Magic-3S-DxOMark-Audio-Review-50-Points-836x420.png 836w" sizes="(max-width: 930px) 100vw, 930px" /></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">DxOMark is well-known for its camera reviews but lately, they have also started testing audio on smartphones. The final score of their audio test is an average determined by the points scored by the phone in both playback and recording tests conducted by them under controlled lab conditions. Just last week, the company posted the audio review of </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/realme-x2-pro"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Realme X2 Pro</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">, which according to them has an exceptional playback volume. Now, they are back again with a review of </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/nubia-red-magic-3s/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Nubia Red Magic 3S</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">, a gaming smartphone launched in the same month as the X2 Pro.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">As per the tests performed by the DxOMark Audio team on Nubia Red Magic 3S, the device did not meet the standards of a gaming smartphone with a final score of 50 points. They found the playback from the speakers to be ‘heavily impaired by the narrowness of its frequency response’. This is because the phone highlights more on hollow midrange frequencies without outputting bass and high-end frequencies. As a result, the overall sound yield from the speakers is suppressed with poor performance in attack (percussion instruments like drums), bass precision, and localizability (location of audio in the overall soundscape).</span></p>
<figure id="attachment_274392" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-274392" style="width: 696px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><img loading="lazy" class="wp-image-274392 size-large" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/nubia-red-magic-3s-silver-featured-1024x544.png?x44794" alt="nubia red magic 3s silver featured" width="696" height="370" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/nubia-red-magic-3s-silver-featured-1024x544.png 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/nubia-red-magic-3s-silver-featured-300x159.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/nubia-red-magic-3s-silver-featured-768x408.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/nubia-red-magic-3s-silver-featured-696x370.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/nubia-red-magic-3s-silver-featured-1068x567.png 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/nubia-red-magic-3s-silver-featured-790x420.png 790w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/nubia-red-magic-3s-silver-featured.png 1116w" sizes="(max-width: 696px) 100vw, 696px" /><figcaption id="caption-attachment-274392" class="wp-caption-text">Nubia Red Magic 3S Silver</figcaption></figure>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Further, the review states that the wideness performance of the phone is only good while playing games. For those who do not know, wideness refers to ‘ability to render where sounds come from in recording’. Also, another major con of the phone’s speakers is the shifting of voice content to the right side rather than being balanced. However, the Nubia Red Magic 3S shines in one department unlike any other phone</span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/dxomark-audio/"><span style="font-weight: 400;"> DxoMark Audio</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> team has ever tested. And that is Artifacts performance with an impressive highest score of 89 points. This means the phone produces extremely clean sound with no audible noise or distortion even at high volume.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">As far as recording capabilities are concerned, the Red Magic 3S performs even poorer than its playback performance. The voices recorded through the phone’s microphone sound come out canny as well as hissy. The recordings also have insufficient loudness, almost no spatial elements as the phone can only record in mono, and inferior background rendering due to aggressive noise canceling algorithm. Simply put, this phone has the worst recording capability than any handset DxOMark Audio team has tested so far.</span></p>

<p>While not the best, the audio scoring is still in the top margins in the list of all the smartphones that have been tested. According to the firm, the Huawei Mate 30 Pro 5G excels in audio recording but suffers slightly in the spatial sound fields. In other words, its audio playback capabilities caused the drop in the score while the recording aspects received praise specifically.</p>
<h6 class="related"><strong>Editor&#8217;s Pick: <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/03/21/redmi-k30-pro-to-feature-stacked-motherboard-design-crams-in-61-components-per-sq-centimeter/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Redmi K30 Pro to feature ‘Stacked Motherboard’ design, crams in 61 components per sq centimeter</a></strong></h6>
<p>In terms of recording, certain aspects like Timbre, volume levels, artifacts, and even dynamics received notable scores. Although, the background noise was a problem during recording tests. On the other hand, the playback tests also saw artifacts receiving a positive rating, however, the spatial in particular received a low score. The reason for the drop was due to the single speaker unit on the side, which caused an uneven audio spatial balance.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-312022 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/Screenshot-194.png?x44794" alt="Huawei" width="1362" height="518" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/Screenshot-194.png 1362w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/Screenshot-194-300x114.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/Screenshot-194-768x292.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/Screenshot-194-1024x389.png 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/Screenshot-194-696x265.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/Screenshot-194-1068x406.png 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/Screenshot-194-1104x420.png 1104w" sizes="(max-width: 1362px) 100vw, 1362px" /></p>
<p>Notably, the recording score was the highest ratings ever given out by DxOMark. This makes Huawei Mate 30 Pro 5G&#8217;s audio recording one of the best in the entire world. In terms of overall audio tests, the device offered a good bass response as well although the rest of the playback could be improved upon. DxOMark ratings are comprised of various tests and hours of evaluation. So, the Mate 30 Pro 5G receiving such a high score is commendable.</p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">As per DxOMark, the </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/realme-x2-pro/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Realme X2 Pro</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> performed ‘reasonably well’ in their audio test for a smartphone at its price. The DxOMark Audio test involves both playback and recording capabilities of a smartphone. The final score of the test is an average of these two performances of the phone.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">In the playback test, the </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/category/realme/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Realme </span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">X2 Pro scores a respectable 59 points. According to DxOMark, the X2 Pro&#8217;s playback Volume sub-score of 79 is the highest of any device they have tested so far, and it is the first Android phone to top the 77 earned by <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/apple-iphone-11-pro-max/">Apple’s iPhone 11 Pro Max</a>. The phone’s Dolby-certified stereo speakers can clearly reproduce mid-range tones, along with precise treble and bass. But unfortunately, the bass tones lack in volume even though they are precise. Further, the sound stage seems to be not as wide as those found on other multi-speaker speakers. That means the dual stereo speakers on this phone are well-suited for games than for listening to music.</span></p>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/realme-x2pro-1.jpg?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-298537" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/realme-x2pro-1.jpg?x44794" alt="realme x2 pro" width="1000" height="659" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/realme-x2pro-1.jpg 1000w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/realme-x2pro-1-300x198.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/realme-x2pro-1-768x506.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/realme-x2pro-1-696x459.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/realme-x2pro-1-637x420.jpg 637w" sizes="(max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px" /></a></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">As far as the recording test is concerned, the Realme X2 Pro does not perform well when compared to similar phones in the segment like </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/huawei-honor-20-pro/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Honor 20 Pro</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">. The X2 Pro scores only 55 points in the recording test, which is four points lesser than its competitor’s 59 points. Although the accuracy of reproducing sound source locations is a hit or miss as the phone tends more to the right channel, the sound dynamics of recordings are quite good.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">In simpler words, the Realme X2 Pro performed well for its asking price in the </span><a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/dxomark"><span style="font-weight: 400;">DxOMark </span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">Audio test with some caveats.</span></p>
