<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/category/samsung/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Samsung</a> has a launch event set for tomorrow, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2024/10/17/breaking-samsung-confirms-galaxy-z-fold-special-edition-launch-date/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">October 21st</a>. Although the company hasn’t officially confirmed what it’s unveiling, it’s expected to be a new foldable, likely the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition.</p>

<p>We’ve only seen the phone once, in a <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2024/09/06/galaxy-z-fold-special-edition-first-render-is-out/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">leaked render </a>from a month ago. However, a new leak has now given us the first live image of the Special Edition Fold.</p>

<h2><strong>Galaxy Fold Special Edition real-life images</strong></h2>

<p>The leak comes from X (formerly Twitter) user <em>@Jukanlosreve</em>, who shared somewhat blurry images of the upcoming foldable. This particular model is for the Chinese market, where it’s rumored to be called the “Samsung Galaxy W25.”&nbsp;</p>

<p>It’s recognizable because of the distinct logo at the bottom, used for Samsung’s Chinese foldable. In Korea, however, it’s expected to be named the Galaxy Fold Special Edition, its only other market after China.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-gallery has-nested-images columns-default is-cropped">
<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="450" height="600" data-id="655885"  src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-Fold-Special-Edition-Live-image.webp?x44794" alt="" class="wp-image-655885" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-Fold-Special-Edition-Live-image.webp 450w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-Fold-Special-Edition-Live-image-225x300.webp 225w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-Fold-Special-Edition-Live-image-315x420.webp 315w" sizes="(max-width: 450px) 100vw, 450px" /></figure>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="450" height="600" data-id="655884"  src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-Fold-Special-Edition-Live-Image-4.webp?x44794" alt="" class="wp-image-655884" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-Fold-Special-Edition-Live-Image-4.webp 450w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-Fold-Special-Edition-Live-Image-4-225x300.webp 225w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-Fold-Special-Edition-Live-Image-4-315x420.webp 315w" sizes="(max-width: 450px) 100vw, 450px" /></figure>
</figure>

<p>Unfortunately, the leak doesn’t reveal any specific details about the phone. It’s expected to be thinner than the standard Fold, and the image of the phone folded does make it look slimmer. Still, we can’t confirm its exact thickness.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="450" height="600" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-Fold-Special-Edition-Live-Image-3.jpg?x44794" alt="" class="wp-image-655886" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-Fold-Special-Edition-Live-Image-3.jpg 450w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-Fold-Special-Edition-Live-Image-3-225x300.jpg 225w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-Fold-Special-Edition-Live-Image-3-315x420.jpg 315w" sizes="(max-width: 450px) 100vw, 450px" /></figure></div>

<p>The unfolded inner display is rumored to be 8 inches, up from the standard Z Fold 6’s 7.6 inches. The outer display is also expected to grow from 6.3 inches to 6.5 inches.</p>

<p>A previous report also suggests that the display crease on the new fold will be less noticeable than in the standard Z Fold 6. If true, that will be a welcome improvement since previous models have made little progress in this area.</p>

<p>Aside from being slim, the new foldable is also rumored to feature a 200MP camera. According to reliable leaker <em>Ice Universe</em>, the camera quality will even surpass that of the Galaxy S24 Ultra. We’ll find out if these rumors hold true in just one day.</p>

While the device has been in the news as Galaxy Fold Lite, the actual naming of the phone has leaked online.</p>
<p>As per the industry insider Ross Young, the smartphone is named Samsung Galaxy Fold Special Edition. It seems that the company will launch this foldable smartphone to clear out the inventory of original Galaxy Fold before the company launches <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/galaxy-fold-2">Galaxy Fold 2</a>.</p>
<p><figure id="attachment_297396" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-297396" style="width: 900px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><img loading="lazy" class="wp-image-297396 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/Galaxy-Fold-900x540.jpg?x44794" alt="Samsung Galaxy Fold" width="900" height="540" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/Galaxy-Fold-900x540.jpg 900w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/Galaxy-Fold-900x540-300x180.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/Galaxy-Fold-900x540-768x461.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/Galaxy-Fold-900x540-696x418.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/Galaxy-Fold-900x540-700x420.jpg 700w" sizes="(max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /><figcaption id="caption-attachment-297396" class="wp-caption-text">Samsung Galaxy Fold</figcaption></figure></p>
<p>It is said that the Galaxy Fold Special Edition will be priced at $1,099, making it the cheapest foldable smartphone not just from Samsung but any other manufacturer. He has also revealed that the smartphone will be launched in July and will have a limited stock of around 55,000 units.</p>
<p>Recently <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/05/13/galaxy-fold-lite-specs-leaks-will-have-sd865-but-no-5g/">leaked specifications</a> of the smartphone suggest that it will come powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 processor but won&#8217;t have 5G support. The device is said to be be built with an aluminium frame and glass body and should come in Mirror Black and Mirror Purple color options.</p>
<h6 class="related"><strong>EDITOR&#8217;S PICK: <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/05/08/samsung-pay-debit-card-summer-launch/">Samsung confirms that it will launch a debit card with money management feature this summer</a></strong></h6>
<p>Max Weinbach, who leaked the phone&#8217;s specs, mentions that these are not the final specifications and they could get changed by the time the device launches in the market. So, we&#8217;d advise you to take this information with a pinch of salt.</p>
<p>The usage of <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/snapdragon-865">SD865 SoC</a> will make the processor on the phone stronger than the one offered in Galaxy Fold and Galaxy Z Flip. Also, it doesn&#8217;t make sense for the phone to be a 4G-only device if it&#8217;s powered by SD865 as the chipset comes with built-in 5G modem.</p>
<p>Meanwhile, the company is also <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/04/21/samsung-galaxy-fold-2-new-leak-reveals-120hz-punch-hole-display-s-pen-support-and-more/">working on Samsung Galaxy Fold 2</a> smartphone as a successor to the Galaxy Fold. The device is rumoured to have 120Hz display, punch-hole cutout, S Pen support, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/04/28/samsung-galaxy-fold-2-camera-details/">triple rear cameras</a>, and more.</p>
