Amid rumors of Samsung launching its “Special Edition” Galaxy Z Fold soon, the company has now officially confirmed the release date.
In a press release today, Samsung announced that it will unveil a new Galaxy device on October 21. While the specific device is not confirmed, it’s highly likely to be the long-rumored Special Edition Fold.

A report from September gave us our first sneak peek at the phone’s design. It revealed a revamped camera module in a rectangular format compared to the standard Z Fold 6’s pill-shaped layout.
Prolific tipster Evan Blass also shared a closeup of the phone’s camera design in a leak recently, along with a luxurious rose gold frame with a textured finish for improved grip.
Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition will have some notable upgrades
Beyond the design, rumors suggest significant upgrades under the hood. Although specifics are under wraps, the camera system in the Special Edition Fold is expected to receive a welcome overhaul.
Another key upgrade could be the hinge. Tipster Ice Universe suggests that the display crease on the new fold will be less noticeable than in the standard Z Fold 6. If true, that will be a welcome improvement since previous models have made little progress in this area.

The unfolded inner display is rumored to be 8 inches, up from the standard Z Fold 6’s 7.6 inches. The outer display is also expected to grow from 6.3 inches to 6.5 inches.
However, the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition may be hard to get. According to current reports, it will have a limited release, mostly available in Korea and China.
All will be revealed at Samsung’s October 21 event, where the company is expected to confirm the device’s full features and specifications.
