Samsung’s latest foldable smartphones have got off to a strong start in India. The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Flip 8 have achieved a new milestone shortly after their debut, highlighting growing consumer interest in foldable devices across the country. The latest figures also reveal where much of this demand is coming from.

According to Samsung, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, Galaxy Z Fold 8, and Galaxy Z Flip 8 received more than 271,000 pre-orders within just 72 hours of launching in India on July 22. For comparison, last year’s Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7 took around 15 days to reach a similar milestone. Samsung also said that 45% of all pre-orders came from Tier 2 cities and smaller markets, indicating that foldable smartphones are gaining popularity well beyond major metropolitan areas. The company now expects the new foldables to match the pre-order numbers achieved by the Galaxy S26 series earlier this year.

The Galaxy Z Fold 8 weighs 201 grams and features a redesigned Flex Titanium display structure that reduces crease visibility while improving durability. It includes a 4,800mAh battery, Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy chipset, up to 3,000 nits peak brightness, dual 50 megapixel rear cameras, Dual Recording and My FanCam features for content creation.

For users looking for the most advanced model, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra features an 8-inch main display, a slim 4.1mm unfolded profile, a 5,000mAh battery, dual-path 45W fast charging and an upgraded cooling system. Its camera setup includes a 200-megapixel primary sensor with HDR support, a 50-megapixel ultra-wide camera, enhanced Nightography, and support for 8K video recording with APV codec and Cine LUT.

The Galaxy Z Flip 8 focuses on portability with a redesigned FlexWindow that brings AI-powered features directly to the cover display. It also packs a 50-megapixel main camera with the ProVisual Engine, hands-free Flex Mode shooting, and new video controls. Across the lineup, Samsung has introduced Galaxy AI features such as Now Brief, Now Nudge, Gemini Intelligence and Gemini Notebook, while One UI 9 adds new AI privacy controls.

Prices start at Rs 1,24,999 for the Galaxy Z Flip 8, Rs 1,79,999 for the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Rs 1,99,999 for the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra.
