Design

You should not expect a high-end design with these handsets. Redmi 10X, Honor 30 Youth and Xiaomi Mi 10 Youth come with plastic materials and they do not sport a sturdy aluminum frame like the most premium phones. Their front panel includes a classic waterdrop notch, but they have pretty narrow bezels around the display. I personally like the Honor 30 Youth more due to its reflective color variant, but in terms of design, it is just a matter of tastes and we can not pick a winner which is valid for everyone like we do in other comparisons.

Redmi 10X and Xiaomi Mi 10 Youth sport the same AMOLED panel with a 6.57-inch diagonal, the HDR10+ certification, and a Full HD+ resolution. This panel is actually better than the display found on the Honor 30 Youth in terms of image quality. On the other hand, Honor 30 Youth offers a higher refresh rate with 90 Hz, so it is more suitable for gamers and it provides a smoother viewing experience. A lot of people prefer a 60 Hz AMOLED display instead of a 90 Hz IPS panel: which would your choice be?

Hardware/Software

Redmi 10X and Honor 30 Youth are powered by the Dimensity 800 chipset by MediaTek, while Xiaomi Mi 10 Youth is equipped with a Snapdragon 765G. Xiaomi Mi 10 Youth most likely takes the second place because it has a bigger battery than Honor 30 Youth and a more efficient display. Honor is gearing for its July 2 launch conference. In the event, the Honor 30 Youth Edition will be officially announced, but just prior to its launch, the company revealed one of its camera features, namely the AI Speed Capture.

Earlier today (1st July 2020), the Chinese brand shared image posters that teased the AI Speed Capture camera feature for the Honor 30 Youth Edition. This allows users to click images of subjects that are moving, like running and jumping and get detailed shots due to its quick capture. Honor shared this feature on its official Weibo account, a Chinese microblogging website.

Honor will be taking off covers from the Honor 30 Lite (Youth Edition) 5G phone in China tomorrow. It is likely to be a rebadged version of the Huawei Enjoy Z phone that debuted in the home market in May. Ahead of the launch, the leaked live shots of the color variants of the Honor 30 Lite 5G have appeared on Weibo.

As can be seen in the leaked shots, the Honor 30 Lite 5G will be available in some irresistible color variants. The China Telecom listing of the phone revealed that it will be coming in colors like Magic Night Black, Wizard of Oz, Summer Rainbow, and Magic Mirror Silver. The leaked images only showcase the rear design of the phone.  The handset can be seen flaunting its rectangle-shaped camera module that includes three cameras and an LED flash.

The volume rocker and side-facing fingerprint scanner can be seen on the right side of the device. The bottom side of the smartphone has an external speaker, a USB-C port, and a 3.5mm headphone slot.

The Honor 30 Lite 5G has a 6.5-inch IPS LCD Full HD+ display with waterdrop notch. It supports the 90Hz refresh rate and 180Hz touch sampling rate. The Dimensity 800 SoC powers the device with up to 8 GB of RAM. The phone comes with up to 128 GB of internal storage. It has a microSD card slot for more storage.

The Magic UI 3.1.1 based Android 10 OS comes loaded on the Honor 30 Youth Edition 5G. It has a 4,000mAH battery with 22.5W rapid charging support. It has a front camera of 16-megapixel and a 48-megapixel + 8-megapixel + 2-megapixel rear-facing triple camera unit. The handset may arrive with 2,099 Yuan (~$297) starting price.

Though Huawei is going through bad times, the company (including Honor) has launched a total of 19 smartphones in the first half (H1) of 2020. According to a blogger, the Chinese smartphone maker will be soon launching two more handsets – Honor 30 Youth Edition (Lite) and Enjoy 20 Plus.

Most of the handsets released by both Huawei and Honor so far this year are 5G enabled. The Chinese telecom giant is playing an important role in pushing 5G adaptation in its home country despite global pandemic.

In fact, out of the 19 smartphones launched by the company, only 4 models are limited to 4G, whereas the remaining 15 are 5G ready, mostly powered by in-house Kirin 990 and Kirin 820.

However, the cheapest 5G smartphone by the company, the Enjoy Z features MediaTek Dimensitey 800 SoC underneath. This handset currently retails for 1,699 Yuan ($240) for the base 6GB + 64GB storage variant.

In addition to the above-mentioned devices, Huawei is also readying to launch Enjoy 20 Plus, which is expected to go official around June 24. Also, its sub-brand will be releasing Honor 30 Lite aka Youth Edition in China.
