Honor‘s latest WiFi 6 router dubbed Honor Router 3 has been launched in Europe. The router is now on pre-sale in several European countries including Germany, France, Spain, and the Netherland. The pre-order will open in Italy on Friday, July 24.

The router is on offer for €79.90 and Honor is equally offering a free Honor Band 5 (Pink or Black) and Honor AM115 Bluetooth earphones (Red or Black)  for those who pay for the product before July 31. It will also be sold in the UK for £79.90 but there are no associated perks.

The Honor Router 3 looks similar to the Huawei AX3 Series WiFi 6+ router except for the base. In fact, it has the same specifications as the standard AX3. The router measures 242mm x 151.9mm x 40.9 mm in dimensions and weighs 379g.

The router is powered by in-house Lingxiao dual-core processor clocked at 1.2GHz paired with 128MB of RAM and 128MB flash memory. The power consumption is rated less than 12W with 12V DC / 1A power input. It runs the Huawei RTOS system can be controlled using the Huawei Smart Life app available on both Android and iOS.

It is capable of operating in both 2.4GHz (574Mbps) and 5GHz (2402Mbps) modes simultaneously with a maximum transmission rate of 3976Mbps. The router features a total of four antennas with a gain of 5dBi.

Further, the router supports transmission protocols such as 802.3, 802.3u, and 802.3ab. It also has three modes namely Wall Penetration, Standard, and Sleep. As for security, it comes with features like WPA3, firewall, DMZ, DoS attack protection, etc.

Other additional features of Honor Router 3 include speed limit, bandwidth limit, parental controls, gaming acceleration, WiFi relay, guest network, MAC address filtering, VPN, and more.

Honor first launched the Honor 9A smartphone in China in March this year. The device is a budget model with an affordable price. Honor is now set to launch the Honor 9A for the global market. The launch event will hold on June 23 and will be streamed live on YouTube.

Although the Honor 9A is an entry-level model, it packs a mammoth 6.3-inch IPS LCD screen with a waterdrop notch. The device is powered by a MediaTek Helio P22 chipset paired with 3GB RAM and 64GB storage. The phone features triple cameras as well as a mammoth 5,000 mAh battery. On the software side, it boots Magic UI 3.1 on top of Android 10 with no Google Play Services.

Honor is also reportedly launching the Honor Router 3 for the global audience on the same day. The router was unveiled in May and comes as the brand’s first Wi-Fi 6+ router. While Honor is gearing up for an upcoming product launch event, the company has also started teasing a few gadgets beforehand. Earlier today (14th May 2020), the Chinese tech giant teased its first Wi-Fi 6 Plus router, named Honor Router 3.

Earlier this year, the Wi-Fi technology saw an advancement in its technology with the new generation of WiFi 6 standards being launched. As of right now, its popularity is already increasing, with most flagship smartphones featuring this technology. Routers and other AIoT products also appeared early on and now it seems that a higher WiFi 6 Plus standard is arriving soon as well.

For those unaware, WiFi 6 brought a lot of improvements over the older generations. It had bandwidth almost three times higher than WiFi 5 and can have nearly 4 times the capacity of concurrently connected devices. Furthermore, its power consumption was also powered by 30 percent while latency also saw a reduction. Unfortunately, it is currently unknown what improvements WiFi 6 Plus brings over the regular WiFi 6, but it is likely to be further improvements on the aforementioned features.

The official Honor Weibo account, a Chinese microblogging website, shared the first poster image for the Honor Router 3. This product will be announced on 18th May 2020, alongside many others like a new laptop, the company’s first 5G and WiFi 6 compliant tablet, and more.
