A tipster has revealed a whole lot about Huawei’s yet-to-be-released flagship model, the Huawei P50. The leak displayed design and specification details of the high-end and much-awaited model, with a few photos of the prototype of the smartphone which is billed for release in June this year.

Popular tipster Digital Chat Station sharing some stunning details and prototype photos of what he insisted was the Huawei P50 series. The details included the design, camera setup, operating system, and a few other features of the model. A follow-up analysis by the concept creator @HoiINDI provided a set of seemingly compelling renders for what he claims are Huawei P50, P50 Pro, and P50 Plus smartphones.

Some earlier leaks relating to the P50 had shown that the flagship smartphone from Huawei will be powered by a Kirin 9000 chipset, a 6.3-inch display, powerful battery life, and fast charging capabilities.

We expect the P50 to be the base model in the P50 series and the details released by the tipster offer a bird’s eye view of what we could expect when Huawei finally unveils the P50 in a few weeks hopefully. The leak reveals that the device will run on Huawei’s homegrown operating system the HarmonyOS, which should be expected, given the problems Huawei had faced in the past year over the US restriction of its access to key suppliers. The P50 prototype photos also reveal a quad-camera system, with a center hole punch display design and a cylindrical camera module. The camera system is equipped with LED flash technology.

There were no details about the price of the Huawei P50 and a few other details and specifications are still lacking. It remains to be seen whether the leaked photos and render details are truly the much-awaited P50. The coming weeks will reveal the authenticity of the leaked details relating to the Huawei P50.

Huawei has not been as vibrant as it used to in terms of product releases, no thanks to sanctions by the Trump’s U.S administration that cut off the company from access to chip for its smartphones. Huawei was able to launch the Mate X2 foldable phone with a Kirin 9000 chip as a result of inventories it stockpiled before the ban went into effect. In the same manner, the company is also expected to announce the Huawei P50 around April this year.

The renders of the P50 series consisting of the P50 and P50 Pro were shared by noted tipster Steve Hemmerstoffer (@Onleaks) on Voice recently. The renders not only gave us a glimpse of the front aspect of the models but also the rear designs. Yet again, the P50’s rear protective case has appeared online to lend some credence to the rendered design. The protective case contains two large cut-outs at the rear for the camera modules.

The Huawei P50 series is expected to arrive with a dual-camera setup with the two camera sensors having an extraordinarily large round aperture each of equal sizes. However, the configuration of the camera setup is yet to be revealed. There are speculations, though, that the P50’s camera setup will include an industry-first 1-inch Sony IMX800 sensor.

This leaked protective case is a third-party accessory but it goes to confirm that the device will likely arrive with the unique design that was leaked by Onleaks. We expect more details of the P50 series to emerge as the expected launch date draws closer.

Yesterday, Steve Hemmerstoffer(@Onleaks) revealed the Huawei P50 Pro CAD renders. Today he is back with the renders and specs of the vanilla Huawei P50.

Right off the bat, we see that the renders show a similar pill-shaped camera layout with a bump and two huge cutouts inside. However, the device has a flat display and not a curved one like the Huawei P50 Pro.

Huawei P50 Design and Specs(Expected) 

Just like the Pro, the Huawei P50 is said to come with a rear glass panel and a metallic frame. The device will likely measure 156.7 x 74 x 8.3mm. If you are wondering the thickness is fairly less, it bumps up to 10.6mm on including the rear camera layout which is a whopping 2.3mm increase in thickness.

If Steve’s render is accurate, the non-Pro variant will also a 0.3mm more thickness(with camera bump) than the Huawei P50 Pro. That said, the silver color variant shown in the renders has Type-C, speakers, antenna lines at the bottom, another speaker & IR blaster at the top, volume & power buttons to the right.

As for specs, steve says that the Huawei P50 will come with a 6.3-inch flat display with a punch-hole at the center. The display has bezels slightly bigger than the ‘Pro’ variant. Although we are yet to know the number of sensors inside the camera layout, Huawei is expected to include an industry-first 1-inch Sony IMX800 sensor.

If reports are to be believed, the Huawei P50 series will feature the same Kirin 9000 flagship chipset. Other expected specs include a in-display fingerprint scanner, run HarmonyOS out of the box. Let’s wait for more leaks as the speculated April 17 launch gets closer.
