We think there are no better ways to understand the potentialities of the Samsung Galaxy Tab S7+ (the higher-end variant of the new lineup) than comparing it with the flagship tablets from other smartphone manufacturers. If we exclude Samsung tablets, the best tablets released from the top brands in the smartphone market are the Huawei MatePad Pro and the latest iPad Pro. Note that the iPad Pro 2020 comes in two variants with 11 and 12.9-inch displays which obviously carry different prices.

Design

All of these tablets come with amazing aesthetics and the most beautiful designs seen in the tablet market. They all feature very narrow bezels around their displays, as well as an aluminum unibody design. I personally love the Samsung Galaxy Tab S7+ because it is thinner than its rivals. The Apple iPad Pro is lighter, while the Huawei MatePad Pro is more compact due to its smaller display. They all support a stylus, but the one of the Galaxy Tab S7+ comes with more advanced features and amazing performances, including a 9 ms response time just like the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra.

Display

The most advanced display belongs to the Samsung Galaxy Tab S7+. First of all, it is the only one to sport an AMOLED panel. Further, it has a 120 Hz refresh rate, while Huawei MatePad Pro does not. The iPad Pro is 120 Hz as well, but it comes with an IPS panel. It is a very nice IPS, but the colors provided by the AMOLED panel of the Galaxy Tab S7+ and its HDR10+ certification are able to provide a better image quality. Note that Huawei MatePad Pro has a smaller 10.8-inch panel, while Galaxy Tab S7+ sports a 12.4-inch and iPad Pro is available in two variants with 11 and 12.9-inch panels.

Hardware/Software

On the paper, the most advanced hardware department belongs to the Samsung Galaxy Tab S7+ which is powered by the new Snapdragon 865+ mobile platform paired with up to 8 GB of RAM and up to 256 GB of UFS 3.0 internal storage. But despite that, iPad Pro is able to provide very similar performance thanks to the better optimization of the iPadOS operating system. It even comes with more interesting productivity features and more productivity apps than Android. Several professional apps are available only for iPadOS, at least for now. But you should not forget that Samsung Galaxy Tab S7+ offers an amazing desktop experience, especially while connected to external monitors.

Camera

The iPad Pro wins the camera comparison. It packs a triple camera arrangement on the rear side, including a LiDAR scanner which is able to track depth in a very accurate way for AR and VR appliances. The silver medal goes to the Samsung Galaxy Tab S7+ which comes with an ultrawide dual camera. The Huawei MatePad Pro still comes with a decent rear camera, but it is inferior to both. Note that in each case, we are far from top camera phones and close to mid-rangers in terms of camera performance.

Battery

Samsung Galaxy Tab S7+ has the biggest battery and it should provide a longer battery life on a single charge. Right after, there is the iPad Pro which still comes with a great battery. But the Huawei MatePad Pro is the only one to support wireless charging, as well as reverse wireless charging. Further, its wired charging technology is faster with the power of 40W.

Price

Samsung Galaxy Tab S7+ starts from $849/€900, Huawei MatePad Pro (4G version) can easily be found for less than $589/€500, and iPad Pro starts from $749/€899. The Huawei MatePad Pro allows saving a lot of money, but it does not stand a chance against its rivals. The iPad Pro has better cameras, a more interesting OS for productivity, and amazing performance, while Samsung Galaxy Tab S7+ provides a better pen, display, and probably even longer battery life.

The Cupertino based giant has seemingly skipped any improvements to the build quality, with the 2020 iPad Pro having the same structural flaws as the 2018 model. Similar to the previously launched iPad, the latest version also has the exact same weak point, which is near the microphone that is on the side. During the bend test, the 2020 iPad Pro snapped just as easily as the older variant.

In the video, the YouTuber tested the Magic Keyboard as well, which was found to be pretty durable and rigid. Although, it does arrive with a sizeable price tag. So while the internals and specifications of the new iPad have been improved, Apple has yet to take note of the physical and structural flaw that still persists two years after. The Cupertino-based tech giant introduced T2 security chip on its 2018 MacBooks. It is now present in all the Apple MacBook and Macs released since those models This proprietary security chip helps in disconnecting the microphone when the lid of the notebook is shut. Now, according to the Apple Security Platform document, the company has included a similar feature in the newly-launched iPad Pro 2020 models.

The new iPad Pro 2020 is basically the 2018 iPad Pro with a newer A12Z Bionic processor and a third LIDAR camera for AR applications. But it is the first of its kind to feature hardware-level microphone disconnect functionality as a privacy measure. In fact, Apple confirms that going forward all the new iPads will come with this feature.

The automatic microphone disconnect feature on iPad Pro 2020 and the forthcoming models require the users to shut their Apple tablets with an MFI (Made for iPad) compliant case. By doing so, the microphone on the iPad will be disconnected in hardware and thus microphone audio data cannot be used by software, even with root or kernel privileges.

However, it is worth noting that Apple says the cameras on MacBooks don’t disconnect as their field of view is obstructed by the lid. As for iPads, it does not mention anything about the camera disconnection since there’s no need for it anyway as the case covers the whole front and the rear cameras are faced down.

Indeed, a little over 00 days after the iPad Pro 2018 was released, Apple has now launched the iPad Pro 2020 as well as a new MacBook Air.

Just like its predecessors, the new iPad Pro model is available in two versions – iPad Pro 11 and iPad Pro 12.9. Both models come with several upgraded specs including the processor. The premium tablet equally comes with a new camera setup. The tablet will be available for $799 for the 11 inches model with 128GB storage while the 12.9-inch version with 128GB storage will be available for $949.

The iPad Pro 2020 is identical in design with the previous model but in terms of the internal, this year’s model is powered by a new Apple A12Z Bionic chip which seems to be an upgraded version of the A12 chipset.

The 11-inch version comes with a resolution of 2388 x 1668 pixels while the larger version has a 2732 x 2048 pixels resolution. Both displays offer 264 pixels per inch (PPI). The display on both models supports 120Hz refresh rate making it suitable for seamless gaming experience and smoother scrolling. The tablet comes with a USB-C port but there is no 3.5mm audio jack, something that was equally missing on the 2018 version. The tablet is said to cram a battery that can last for up to 10 hours. The premium tablet equally supports gigabit LTE but not 5G.

One spectacular new addition to the iPad Pro 2020 is called a LIDAR scanner. The tablet packs three camera sensors. The scanner is said to work alongside the tablet’s camera for depth sensing and AR. Yet another cool feature is the new keyboard that the device comes with called Magic Keyboard. The keyboard has a trackpad and is also adjustable to suit the user’s viewing position. The keyboard’s trackpad isn’t just a re-enactment of the MacOS version. Rather, it presents with some new features such that as users move their finger across the trackpad, the pointer elegantly transforms to highlight user interface elements. Apple shared a video highlighting this feature. Find the video below.

In addition, the keyboard is backlit, supports USB-C passthrough charging, and has a “smooth angle adjustment.” The Magic keyboard will be available in May and comes in 11-inch and 12.9-inch versions. The smaller sized keyboard will set buyers apart $299 while the bigger version costs $349.

The iPads are available in silver and gray, with 128GB, 256GB, 512GB, or 1TB storage options. They are presently available to buy on Apple’s online store. Apple also says the tablet will be sold in stores from next week but that will likely be affected by the COVID-19 outbreak.

Sadly, Apple didn’t release a new iPad Pro this year, but leaked renders have revealed next year’s models are getting camera upgrades too.

The new iPad Pro models are rumored to be scheduled for a Spring 2020 launch and just like 2018’s models, we will be getting an 11-inch version and a 12.9-inch version. Popular leaker, Steve Hemmerstoffer (@OnLeaks) has shared renders of the two iPad Pro models.

The renders show the 2020 iPad Pro will have rounded corners and slim bezels. Both sizes will have three connector pins at the bottom of the rear. Steve says he is not sure about the material Apple will use for the rear which is why the renders show both a metal back and a glass back.

The images reveal the iPad Pro will be getting a major camera upgrade as they show both models have a triple rear camera setup just like that of the iPhone 11 Pro. This is a big upgrade from the single sensor of the 2018 edition.

The configuration should be the same as that of the iPhone 11 Pro, so a primary rear camera paired with a telephoto camera and an ultrawide camera. With the iPad Pro getting a similar camera configuration as the iPhones, we may see a reemergence of folks whipping out their tablets in public to take pictures or record videos.
