He now says that the iPhones getting launched in the year 2021 will come without a charging port at all.</p>
<p>Yes, you read that right. He claims that there will be no charging port in the future iPhones. While there are reports claiming that iPhone could get rid of the Lightning port and could adopt USB Type-C port, this report says that there won&#8217;t be any charging port at all.</p>
<figure id="attachment_275602" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-275602" style="width: 1164px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><img loading="lazy" class="wp-image-275602 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/iPhone-11-iPhone-11-Pro-and-iPhone-11-Pro-Max.png?x44794" alt="iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max" width="1164" height="706" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/iPhone-11-iPhone-11-Pro-and-iPhone-11-Pro-Max.png 1164w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/iPhone-11-iPhone-11-Pro-and-iPhone-11-Pro-Max-300x182.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/iPhone-11-iPhone-11-Pro-and-iPhone-11-Pro-Max-768x466.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/iPhone-11-iPhone-11-Pro-and-iPhone-11-Pro-Max-1024x621.png 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/iPhone-11-iPhone-11-Pro-and-iPhone-11-Pro-Max-696x422.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/iPhone-11-iPhone-11-Pro-and-iPhone-11-Pro-Max-1068x648.png 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/iPhone-11-iPhone-11-Pro-and-iPhone-11-Pro-Max-692x420.png 692w" sizes="(max-width: 1164px) 100vw, 1164px" /><figcaption id="caption-attachment-275602" class="wp-caption-text">Apple iPhone 11, 11 Pro, and 11 Pro Max</figcaption></figure>
<p>Instead, the company will be adopting the wireless charging as the only way to charge the iPhones going forward. It seems that the<span class="s1"> charging port will be dropped on the high-end device and would be a more of a gradual sunsetting across the line, starting with the premium models.</span></p>
<p>Even if Apple indeed ends up doing what the report states, it won&#8217;t be the first company to drop ports. Meizu has already launched a smartphone named <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/01/23/meizu-zero-holeless-phone-with-18w-wireless-charging-announced-with-key-specifications/">Meizu Zero</a> &#8212; the world&#8217;s first non-porous smartphone. It features a 3D unibody ceramic build with no physical buttons or ports on its edges.</p>

<p>Further, Kuo predicts that Apple will introduce four iPhones in 2020 &#8212; 5.4-inch, two 6.1-inch, and a 6.7-inch OLED models. He also says that all four of these iPhones will also feature 5G connectivity and other than screen sizes, camera technology will also be a differentiating factor.</p>
<p>He says that the 5.4-inch OLED iPhone will feature a dual-camera setup on the back. The lower-end 6.1-inch iPhone will feature a similar dual-camera system. The higher-end 6.1-inch model and the 6.7-inch model will include triple-lens camera setups as well as time-of-flight 3D sensing technology.</p>
<p>In terms of design for the 2020 OLED iPhone, Kuo says the form factor will be “similar to the iPhone 4.” It is also being reported that the fifth iPhone model will also get launched in 2020 &#8212; Apple <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/10/04/apple-iphone-se-2-design-leaked-and-key-details-appear/">iPhone SE 2</a> with a screen size of either 5.5-inches or 6.1-inches.</p>

<p>According to DigiTimes&#8217; supply chain sources from Taiwan, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/apple">Apple</a> is expecting to sell over 100 million 5G iPhone models in 2020. This would be a substantial rise from the 70-80 million shipments expected of the current generation <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/apple-iphone-11-pro/">iPhone 11</a> series. While Apple is yet to officially confirm <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/5g">5G</a> on its next-generation iPhones, Qualcomm&#8217;s executive had hinted at an investor conference call that 2020 <a href="https://appleinsider.com/articles/19/11/06/qualcomm-hints-5g-iphone-coming-in-2020-analysts-say">iPhones could come with this new generation technology</a>.</p>
<p>5G iPhones in 2020 could do well in a market like China. It&#8217;s no secret that China is going to be <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/11/21/china-has-ability-to-make-best-5g-in-the-world-huawei-chairman/">one of the biggest iPhone markets in the world</a>. There are already a bunch of <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/11/15/huawei-mate-x-5g-sold-out-in-less-than-a-minute-in-first-sale-in-china/">5G smartphones from companies like Huawei</a> and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/09/27/xiaomi-mi-9-pro-5g-sold-out-in-2-minutes-in-first-sale/">Xiaomi</a> and a number of other manufacturers are going to release their <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/11/07/vivo-x30-series-with-exynos-980-5g-will-debut-in-december/">5G models in the coming weeks</a>. So despite the popularity outside of China, the lack of 5G in the current generation iPhones <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/09/11/why-the-new-apple-iphone-11-series-lack-of-5g-big-disadvantage-in-china/">could be a major drawback for iPhones this year</a>. But if 2020 iPhones support 5G, Apple could get a huge boost in the Chinese market next year, helping its overall sales.</p>
