A new leak has revealed that Apple is reportedly testing an interesting new feature for its iPhone. Apparently, the company is running macOS on an iPhone and plans on bringing a docking feature for a full desktop experience, when connecting the handset to a monitor.

The news arrives after Apple recently showcased the A12Z Bionic chip running inside a Mac mini that ran macOS through Rosetta 2. According to MauriQHD, the Cupertino based giant has built a prototype macOS on an iPhone. Reportedly, Apple is even testing a DeX like prototype. For those unaware, DeX is a Samsung made technology that enables its smartphone to be docked to a monitor and bring a full desktop experience.

This concept has also been previously approached by Razer with its Project Linda, were docking a smartphone on the trackpad of a thin notebook, enabled it to be used as a portable ultrabook. MauriQHD had also previously tweeted out that Apple is also working on prototypes of iPads with iPadOS and macOS. The company has apparently been working on this one for years.

Unfortunately, these are still unconfirmed reports so take it with a pinch of salt for now. However, the fact that Apple recently announced a shift to its own silicon chips, the seamless switch between interfaces does seem possible. The Mac Mini with A12Z Bionic running full desktop applications with ease also hints that Apple might actually launch the smartphone docking feature as well.
