Kantar Worldpanel is an international firm that monitors shoppers’ behavior. The analytic firm  has released its report on mobile phone sales covering the major markets in the world. The report is the Year Over Year data for February 2017 and February 2016.

The United States:

Apple’s iPhones have recorded a major boost in sales. As at February 2017, Apple’s share of smartphone sales stood at 42%. That’s an increase of 3.7% from last year’s figure. The iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus were the best selling smartphones as at the end of November 2016, so that should count.

Android on the other hand has seen a decline. Last year, it had 58.9% of sales but dropped by 3% to 55.9% this year. Despite the drop, it still sits at the top. Blackberry has remained stagnant with just 0.2% but Windows has suffered a decline dropping from 2.6% last year to 1.7% this year.

United Kingdom (Great Britain)

In The UK, Android is still the favorite even though it lost 0.5% from last year. iOS has repeated its winning streak by gaining an additional 4.5% within the year to arrive at 42.3%. Blackberry too added 0.1% to what it controlled last year and Windows dropped from 6.2% to 2.1%.

France

Windows’ drop in sales in France is even worse compared to that of Great Britain. Last year, it recorded 7.4% but  dropped to 2.4% this year. iOS picked up by 3.1% to end up at 24% and Android  gained more love, recording 73.4% compared to 71.8% in the previous year.

Spain

Android takes the lead with 92.2% while iOS takes its first fall. Apple dropped from 9.1% in 2016 to 7.4%. No data was recorded for BlackBerry and Windows lost more customers here too.

Germany

Even with the launch of new phones at IFA Berlin, Android still suffered a 0.3% drop in sales. iOS on the other increased by 4% while Windows half of what it sold last year.

China

China is where Android reigned supreme. From 76.4% last year, sales increased to 86.4%. Apple records a major fall in China with a drop to 13.2% from 22.2%.

Brazil

In the South American country, Android increased its sales from 90.4% to 93.2%. iOS dropped by 0.3% to 4.4% and Windows lost more than half in sales.
