<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/category/lenovo/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Lenovo</a>&#8216;s next generation of Legion branded gaming tablets has just surfaced in a new leak. The brand is apparently working on two new compact gaming tablets, which will reportedly feature Qualcomm&#8217;s latest and greatest Snapdragon chipsets. So here&#8217;s everything we know.</p>

<h2>New Compact Lenovo Legion Gaming Tablets leaked with Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5</h2>

<p>The latest information arrives from a known tipster <em><a href="https://weibo.com/5888095979/QdNCy0eZV" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Smart Pikachu</a></em>, who shared the details on Weibo. In the online post, he talks about how Lenovo is working on two new compact gaming tablets, which will pack the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 and the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipsets. These will be a part of the brand&#8217;s popular Legion series and will retain a 16:10 aspect ratio, which was the same as the Legion Y700.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="576" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/08/Lenovo-Legion-Y700-Gen-4-1024x576.webp?x44794" alt="Lenovo Legion Y700 (Gen 4)" class="wp-image-700278" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/08/Lenovo-Legion-Y700-Gen-4-1024x576.webp 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/08/Lenovo-Legion-Y700-Gen-4-300x169.webp 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/08/Lenovo-Legion-Y700-Gen-4-768x432.webp 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/08/Lenovo-Legion-Y700-Gen-4-696x392.webp 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/08/Lenovo-Legion-Y700-Gen-4-1068x601.webp 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/08/Lenovo-Legion-Y700-Gen-4-747x420.webp 747w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/08/Lenovo-Legion-Y700-Gen-4.webp 1200w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /><figcaption>Lenovo Legion Y700 (Gen 4)</figcaption></figure></div>

<p>To recall, Lenovo unveiled the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2025/05/21/lenovo-legion-y700-gaming-tablet-announced/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Legion Y700 (Gen 4)</a> in China back in May 2025, with the global market getting the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2025/01/08/lenovo-legion-tab-2025-gaming-tab-unveiled/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Legion Tab (2025)</a>. The former featured the cutting edge Snapdragon 8 Elite, while the latter debuted with the older Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. So Lenovo might follow a strategy once again with the next generation of tablets. The Legion Tab (2026) could pack the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5, while the Legion Y700 (Gen 5) gets the powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor. </p>

<p>Notably, this report is also in line with a recent leak from another reputable leakster. The Legion Y700 2026 model is expected to feature Qualcomm&#8217;s flagship chip, along with a relatively compact 8.8-inch LCD panel with a 16:10 aspect ratio, 3K resolution, and 165Hz refresh rate. It might be powered by a 9000mAh battery pack and house a huge VC heat dissipation system to keep the thermals in check.</p>

<p>The tech giant is gearing up to unveil the Lenovo Legion Y700 gaming tablet in its home market of China on 8th May 2025. Lenovo recently <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2025/04/28/legion-y700-2025-tablet-pre-orders-begin/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">confirmed a bunch of key specs and features</a> of the Gen 4 Legion Tab, and it has now offered more details regarding other upgrades. The new tablet will arrive with LPDDR5X Ultra RAM along with UFS 4.1 storage. To recall, the Gen 3 Legion Y700 only offered LPDDR5X memory and UFS 4.0 storage.</p>

<p>Lenovo claims that this upgrade would allow the Gen 4 Y700 to offer 2x performance boost over the Gen 2 Legion Tab while also being faster than the Apple iPad mini 7 as well. One of the highlighting aspect of the upcoming Legion Y700 is the chipset under the hood. It is equipped with the flagship grade Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC, which is the same chip that powers the Galaxy S25 series. To keep these beefy specs cool, the company packs a dedicated 12,000 mm2&nbsp;VC cooling mechanism.</p>

<p>For mobile gaming enthusiasts, there are a couple of features that are key for an improved gameplay experience. Displays and processors are two of the biggest examples of this. In both regards, Lenovo doesn&#8217;t disappoint with the 8.8-inch LCD screen with an impressive 165Hz variable refresh rate, 98% DCI P3 color gamut, DC Dimming, up to 500 nits of peak brightness, and HDR10 support.</p>

<p>Under the hood, it is equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, which is paired with 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 256GB of internal storage. Users can even expand the storage by up to 1TB via a microSD card slot. A large 6,550mAh battery pack powers the Legion Tab (2025), which supports 45W wired fast charging. With these specs, you can expect top notch performance from this tablet for gaming or regular use.</p>

Other notable features include WiFi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, Android 14 OS based ZUI 16.1 custom skin (3 years of guaranteed OS updates), and a slim 7.79 body. <h3>What makes the Lenovo Legion Tab special?</h3>

<p>Lenovo packed the Legion Tab with various specs and features to ensure a smooth and immersive gaming experience. This includes a tall 8.8-inch 2.5K display with 500 nits of peak brightness and a 144Hz refresh rate. A higher frame rate enhances the gameplay overall. The gaming tablet is equipped with the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC. While this processor isn&#8217;t the latest flagship chip from Qualcomm, it is still high end processor that still offers a great gaming experience. </p>

<p>This makes it capable of handling not only games but any other intensive tasks. As mobile games get bigger, they also take up more space, so the 256GB storage with a 1TB microSD card slot is also very handy. Any mobile gamer would know how their devices get hot when playing intense titles like COD Mobile, Genshin Impact, and other similar games. To address this issue, Lenovo offers the Legion ColdFront cooling system that offers three modes, Beast Mode, Balanced Mode, and Energy Saving Mode. So you can switch between tablet cooling and power during gaming.</p>

<h3>How does it compare to other tablets?</h3>

<p>The company announced the Legion gaming tablet for 34,999 INR in India. At this price range, there is also the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2024/07/16/oneplus-pad-2-launched-globally/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">newly launched OnePlus Pad 2</a>, which has a slightly more expensive 39,999 INR price tag. For this price, you get 128GB of storage instead of 256GB and 8GB of RAM instead of 12GB on the Legion Tab. </p>

<p>But you get a more powerful and newer Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. This makes the OnePlus Pad 2 a more powerful machine for gaming, at least on paper. However, its 12.9-inch panel is rather unwieldy compared to the Legion Tab. So it is clear that Lenovo gave more thought than just specs for making this a &#8220;gaming tablet&#8221;</p>

<h3>But is it really worth it?</h3>

<p>To be completely honest, it is still too early to tell if this is a step in the right direction or a redundant product. Lenovo clearly has a vision with the Legion Tab and believes that it can expand its gaming portfolio with such gaming tablets. Considering it is the first iteration, it is a decent package overall. You&#8217;re not sacrificing specs or features and are guaranteed a capable performance. </p>

<p class="has-text-align-center"><a href="https://fkrt.co/VNM8xd" rel="sponsored nofollow">Buy Lenovo Legion Tab</a></p>

<p>Although, I believe that future models/successors or even rival brands might have competitive offerings in the plans. So if you really need a tablet for gaming and you have money to spare, the Legion Tab is literally the only option in India. Otherwise, put off buying a gaming tablet for a little while and see how this category of products develops in the near future. </p>

<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/lenovo/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Lenovo</a> has finally decided to make its Legion branded gaming tablets available globally to capitalize on the growing mobile gaming market. The new tablet is simply called the Lenovo Legion Tab, which is a rebranded version of the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/lenovo-legion-y700-2023/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Legion Tab Y700 2023</a> model (China exclusive).</p>

<h2>Lenovo Legion Tab specs &amp; features:</h2>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="654" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/Legion-Tab-front-back-1024x654-1.webp?x44794" alt="" class="wp-image-611118" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/Legion-Tab-front-back-1024x654-1.webp 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/Legion-Tab-front-back-1024x654-1-300x192.webp 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/Legion-Tab-front-back-1024x654-1-768x491.webp 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/Legion-Tab-front-back-1024x654-1-696x445.webp 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/Legion-Tab-front-back-1024x654-1-658x420.webp 658w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure></div>

<p>The Legion Tab boasts an 8.8-inch display, which might be on the smaller end of consumer tablets, however, the size makes it desirable for gaming since it is relatively easier to control compared to the bigger tablets. Add in the fact that Lenovo has provided a QHD+ resolution PureSight gaming panel with a 144Hz refresh rate makes it quite ideal for gaming. The panel is decently bright at 500 nits (typical) and covers the DCI-PC color gamut.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="576" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/Screenshot-2024-03-14-063105-1024x576.png?x44794" alt="Lenovo Legion Pad" class="wp-image-611119" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/Screenshot-2024-03-14-063105-1024x576.png 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/Screenshot-2024-03-14-063105-300x169.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/Screenshot-2024-03-14-063105-768x432.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/Screenshot-2024-03-14-063105-1536x864.png 1536w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/Screenshot-2024-03-14-063105-696x392.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/Screenshot-2024-03-14-063105-1068x601.png 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/Screenshot-2024-03-14-063105-747x420.png 747w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/Screenshot-2024-03-14-063105.png 1920w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure></div>

<p>Design-wise, the tablet measures 208.54 x 129.46 x 7.6 mm, weighs 350 grams, and comes with a metal finish for its back as well as the sides. To improve gaming emersion, Lenovo has integrated a haptic system on the tablet. As for sound, the tablet has a dual speaker setup onboard tuned with Dolby Atmos.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter"><img loading="lazy" width="975" height="650" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/08/Lenovo-Legion-Y700-2023-Gaming-Tablet.jpg?x44794" alt="Lenovo Legion Y700 2023 Gaming Tablet" class="wp-image-556790" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/08/Lenovo-Legion-Y700-2023-Gaming-Tablet.jpg 975w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/08/Lenovo-Legion-Y700-2023-Gaming-Tablet-300x200.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/08/Lenovo-Legion-Y700-2023-Gaming-Tablet-768x512.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/08/Lenovo-Legion-Y700-2023-Gaming-Tablet-696x464.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/08/Lenovo-Legion-Y700-2023-Gaming-Tablet-630x420.jpg 630w" sizes="(max-width: 975px) 100vw, 975px" /></figure></div>

<p>The tablet has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor onboard, which isn&#8217;t the latest and greatest, however, it is a powerful flagship-grade chip unleashed with the help of Legion ColdFront: Vapor thermal solution, which is essentially an oversized vapor chamber. The tablet features 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 256GB onboard storage, with the option of expanding it up to 1TB through a microSD card. It features a 6550mAh battery, which is decent considering its size, as well as 45W fast charging through a USB Type-C port using Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0&nbsp;technology. The second USB-C port offers DisplayPort 1.4 functionality for external display support.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="576" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/Legion_Tab_OverViewPic-1024x576.jpg?x44794" alt="" class="wp-image-611120" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/Legion_Tab_OverViewPic-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/Legion_Tab_OverViewPic-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/Legion_Tab_OverViewPic-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/Legion_Tab_OverViewPic-696x392.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/Legion_Tab_OverViewPic-1068x601.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/Legion_Tab_OverViewPic-747x420.jpg 747w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/Legion_Tab_OverViewPic.jpg 1280w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>Our previous testing of the Legion Tab Y700 2023 tablet (<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qC16K1jhZwo" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">review video</a>) has revealed that it is capable of running PUGB Mobile at a constant 90 FPS and Genshin Impact at a stable 60FPS. That being said, this tablet might be the perfect device to pair with something like <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2024/03/11/xbox-game-pass-boosteroid/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Boosteroid</a>, which is a cloud gaming platform meant for devices like smartphones, tablets, etc. If you own an Xbox Game Pass subscription, you can play games like&nbsp;Deathloop, Dishonored series, Gears 5, Ghostwire: Tokyo, and many others on this tablet through Boosteroid.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="925" height="719" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/lenovo-legion-tab-header.jpg?x44794" alt="Lenovo Legion Tab" class="wp-image-611124" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/lenovo-legion-tab-header.jpg 925w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/lenovo-legion-tab-header-300x233.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/lenovo-legion-tab-header-768x597.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/lenovo-legion-tab-header-696x541.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/lenovo-legion-tab-header-540x420.jpg 540w" sizes="(max-width: 925px) 100vw, 925px" /></figure></div>

<p>You can even hook it up with a mouse and keyboard or controller and use it like a PC. For software, the Legion Tab offers will ship with Android 13 onboard, however, the brand says it will provide Android 14 and Android 15 updates, along with security updates up to 2028. The tablet will also have a gaming assistant software onboard that will help with toggling performance modes, turning on screen recording, and bypass charging among other features.</p>

<p>For optics, the Legion Tab has a 13MP primary camera and a 2MP macro camera on the back, while the front of the device features an 8MP selfie camera. For connectivity, the tablet supports Bluetooth 5.3 and Wi-Fi 6E.</p>
