<p>The canceled <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/lenovo">Lenovo</a> Legion Play prototypes are currently being sold in China. The Legion Play sports a 7-inch display and a Snapdragon 888 chipset. Other specifications of the Legion Play have also surfaced.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="640" height="449" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/lenovo-play.webp?x10805" alt="Lenovo Legion Play" class="wp-image-508039" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/lenovo-play.webp 640w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/lenovo-play-300x210.webp 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/lenovo-play-599x420.webp 599w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/lenovo-play-100x70.webp 100w" sizes="(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px" /></figure></div>

<p>It would seem that the Lenovo Legion Play was close to its release before the company pulled the plug. The seemingly impressive gaming handheld was scheduled for launch during MWC 2021. However, it wasn’t released with no reason provided. The Legion Play provides cloud game streaming functionality.</p>

<p>Gaming handhelds have been on a positive trajectory in recent years. Several of these devices have AMD APUs and most also run on Windows. A tipster Taki Udon says that the prototype units of the Legion Play were being sold for as low as $160 in China. Some additional details from the prototypes include Android 11 OS from the box with a custom launcher and HDR10 support. It also has stereo front-facing speakers and a 7,000mAh battery.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper">
<iframe loading="lazy" title="Handheld Lenovo Legion Play" width="696" height="392" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/r7gCFqDe3B0?feature=oembed" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share" allowfullscreen></iframe>
</div></figure>

<p>One of the critical factors that could have affected the release of the Legion Play is the pricing. It is speculated that the Lenovo Legion Play could have been more expensive than the Logitech G Cloud. The G Cloud is currently priced at $300 but comes with a less powerful Snapdragon 720G. A possible reason for the cancellation of the Legion Play is the Steam Deck which is powered by the more powerful AMD APU.</p>

<p>The Lenovo Legion Play has a net weight of 436g and a display resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels. There is no indication of the number of units of the Legion Play that was or is still being sold. It is also unclear whether the device will have software support for it to function.</p>

A new leak has revealed the Legion Play that is an Android based handheld gaming console.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-416904 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/lenovo-legion-play_01-780x450.jpg?x10805" alt="Lenovo" width="780" height="450" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/lenovo-legion-play_01-780x450.jpg 780w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/lenovo-legion-play_01-780x450-300x173.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/lenovo-legion-play_01-780x450-768x443.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/lenovo-legion-play_01-780x450-696x402.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/lenovo-legion-play_01-780x450-728x420.jpg 728w" sizes="(max-width: 780px) 100vw, 780px" /></p>
<p>According to an<a href="https://www.androidauthority.com/lenovo-legion-play-3033467/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"><em> AndroidAuthority</em></a> report, the images of the upcoming Android gaming console was spotted on GBA Temp by a user, who found that the images were linked to the Chinese tech giant&#8217;s own website which suggested the Legion Play branding. The report further adds that the images were uploaded by the company&#8217;s German and Japan unit&#8217;s <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/mwc-2021/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">MWC 2021</a> webpages. In other words, the brand was initially considering on launching this device earlier this year but its plans changed due to unknown reasons.</p>
<p>Looking at the images, the Legion Play is a handheld gaming console that runs Android with what appears to be a custom launcher. We can even see icons for NVIDIA GeForce Now, the Play Store, along with several other Google applications. Apart from this, we can see  that it sports a USB Type C port, a 3.5 mm headphone jack, dual analog sticks, four face buttons, a D pad, and even shoulder buttons.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-416905 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/lenovo-legion-play_02-780x323.jpg?x10805" alt="Lenovo" width="780" height="323" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/lenovo-legion-play_02-780x323.jpg 780w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/lenovo-legion-play_02-780x323-300x124.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/lenovo-legion-play_02-780x323-768x318.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/lenovo-legion-play_02-780x323-696x288.jpg 696w" sizes="(max-width: 780px) 100vw, 780px" /></p>
<p>Notably, the website also had a description for the product which stated that &#8220;Designed for AAA gaming, the Lenovo Legion Play is the first Android cloud gaming console. The console lets users play hundreds of cloud games, stream their game library, or play mobile games. It features a 7 inch 16:9 FHD bezel less display, HDR 10, built in controllers, dual speakers, dual vibration, and 7,000mAh battery to provide the best gaming experience. Our developer program is open to all game developers. Coming soon in select markets.&#8221; As of right now, it is unclear when the company will launch the product, so stay tuned for more updates.</p>
