The device was said to be the company&#8217;s last proper 5G handset in the market. And as we know, the brand has now left the smartphone industry for good. However, the company still seems to be holding on to its software update promise. The V60 ThinQ 5G is now getting the taste of the latest Android 12 update.</p>
<p>The LG V60 ThinQ in the US, specifically the T-Mobile models are getting the Android 12 update. What&#8217;s surprising is that the phone wasn&#8217;t on LG&#8217;s <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2022/04/04/lg-smartphones-android-12-update-q2-2022/">list of eligible devices</a> for the Android 12 update but it&#8217;s still getting it, anyway. It appears that LG wants to offer most of its premium smartphones the latest updates. For instance, recently, the LG Velvet <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2022/03/19/lg-velvet-gets-the-promised-android-12-update-in-korea/">received</a> the Andriod 12 update in South Korea.</p>
<figure id="attachment_373740" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-373740" style="width: 4000px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><img loading="lazy" class="wp-image-373740 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/LG-V60-ThinQ-5G-Featured.jpg?x10805" alt="LG V60 ThinQ 5G Featured" width="4000" height="2250" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/LG-V60-ThinQ-5G-Featured.jpg 4000w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/LG-V60-ThinQ-5G-Featured-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/LG-V60-ThinQ-5G-Featured-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/LG-V60-ThinQ-5G-Featured-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/LG-V60-ThinQ-5G-Featured-696x392.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/LG-V60-ThinQ-5G-Featured-1068x601.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/LG-V60-ThinQ-5G-Featured-747x420.jpg 747w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/LG-V60-ThinQ-5G-Featured-1920x1080.jpg 1920w" sizes="(max-width: 4000px) 100vw, 4000px" /><figcaption id="caption-attachment-373740" class="wp-caption-text">LG V60 ThinQ 5G</figcaption></figure>
<p>The build number for the update is SKQ1.211103.001 and the update is sized 1.17GB. There&#8217;s not much information in the changelog as it just vaguely mentions bug fixes, security and system improvements(<a href="https://i.redd.it/n992b89gv0v81.png" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">via</a>). The update also brings March 2022 security patch, not the latest, but still a recent one.</p>
<p>If you own a V60 ThinQ and are from the US, you should have received the OTA update notification. You can also update it manually by heading to Settings &gt; Software Update. If you do not see the Android 12 update in the Software update section, do wait for some time as it&#8217;s likely a staged release, so it will take some time to reach V60 ThinQ models.</p>

The review of the triple-rear camera-toting phone shows that LG&#8217;s flagship can&#8217;t hold its own against not only this year&#8217;s flagships but also those from last year.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-334108" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/LG-V60-ThinQ-5G-DxOMark-featured.jpg?x10805" alt="LG V60 ThinQ 5G DxOMark featured" width="593" height="382" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/LG-V60-ThinQ-5G-DxOMark-featured.jpg 593w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/LG-V60-ThinQ-5G-DxOMark-featured-300x193.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 593px) 100vw, 593px" /><br />
DxOMark has given the LG V60 ThinQ 5G an overall score of 100 points which is broken down into 103 for photos and 93 for videos. With this score, the <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/LG">LG</a> flagship is in the same bracket with phones such as the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/samsung-galaxy-s9-plus/">Galaxy S9+</a> and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/google-pixel-3a/">Pixel 3a</a>. When compared to the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/lg-g8-thinq/">LG G8 ThinQ</a>, it only performs better in video recording.</p>
<p>The review says the phone&#8217;s lack of a telephoto lens means it can&#8217;t measure up to its competitors in terms of zoom. It also says its texture and noise levels are also below those of other flagships.</p>
<p>It is not all bad for the LG V60 ThinQ. Its ultra-wide angle camera has a wider field of view than many other phones and it is great for taking pictures in high-contrast conditions as a result of its good dynamic range.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><strong><span style="color: #ff0000;">EDITOR&#8217;S PICK:</span> <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/07/03/xiaomi-mi-10-pro-selfie-cam-isnt-flagship-level-dxomark-selfie-camera-review/">Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro selfie cam isn’t flagship-level: DXOMark Selfie camera review</a></strong></p>
<p>The ultrawide angle camera may have a wider field of view but distortion is not as corrected as that of the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/oneplus-8-pro/">OnePlus 8 Pro</a> whose field of view is similar to that of the V60 ThinQ.</p>
<p>If you want to shoot in low-light with the flash, the LG V60 ThinQ 5G will disappoint as it overexposes the subject while the background is underexposed. Better phones are able to achieve good subject exposure while still capturing sufficient background details.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-334109" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/LG-V60-ThinQ-5G-DxOMark.jpg?x10805" alt="LG V60 ThinQ 5G DxOMark" width="765" height="442" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/LG-V60-ThinQ-5G-DxOMark.jpg 765w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/LG-V60-ThinQ-5G-DxOMark-300x173.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/LG-V60-ThinQ-5G-DxOMark-696x402.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/LG-V60-ThinQ-5G-DxOMark-727x420.jpg 727w" sizes="(max-width: 765px) 100vw, 765px" /></p>
<p>When it comes to videos, the LG V60 ThinQ is great in bright outdoor conditions and under typical indoor lighting. Unfortunately, exposure drops in low-light. DXOMark praises its autofocus while recording and attributes it to fast focus convergence and good tracking with smooth transitions.</p>
<p>DXOMark concludes the review by saying the LG V60 ThinQ 5G will actually suffice for a lot of people as long as camera performance isn&#8217;t top on their list. Its dual-screen accessory and large battery capacity among other features make it a pretty interesting device that will make owners happy.</p>
