The Huawei MediaPad T5 Tablet WiFi Edition has launched in India and is available for purchase on Amazon. The tablet was originally launched back in July 2019 with 4G LTE connectivity. But now, the Chinese tech giant has launched a new WiFi only variant in the Southeast Asian country.

Under the hood, the MediaPad T5 WiFi Edition sports 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage, which can be expanded up to 256GB via a microSD card slot. It houses the HiSilicon Kirin 659 SoC and features a large 10.1 inch FHD display with an aspect ratio of 16:10 and 224ppi pixel density. The tablet has a single 5 megapixel camera on the rear and a 2 megapixel selfie shooter at the front. It is powered by a 5,100mAh battery.

In terms of connectivity, the Huawei MediaPad T5 tablet supports Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, and a Micro USB port for charging and more. While the specifications of the tablet are the same as the previously launched version, it does not support 4G LTE networking. It is currently available on Amazon India’s official website and is priced at 12,999 INR (roughly 171 US Dollars). It arrives in a single color, Black, and Huawei is offering six months no-cost EMI alongside the AM61 Bluetooth earphones worth 3,990 INR (roughly 52 US Dollars).

The Huawei MediaPad T5 was announced first last year. It later made its way to India in July of this year. When the tablet was announced, it was only available in Black and Champagne Gold. Last week, Huawei announced that the MediaPad is now available in a third color variant called Mist Blue.

The new Mist Blue color variant was unveiled last week and it is similar to the Glacier Blue Honor Tablet 5. The bezels are white like that of the Champagne Gold variant.

Not all markets have the new color variant yet. It is not available in India, neither is it available in the US (obviously). But you can pick it up on Amazon Japan, in the United Arab Emirates, but not in Saudi Arabia. It is also not available in Malaysia. You can check your local Huawei online store or authorized partners if the MediaPad T5 is sold in your country.

The MediaPad T5 has a 10.1-inch 1920 x 1200 display. It is powered by the Kirin 659 and paired with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of expandable storage or 3GB of RAM and 32GB of expandable storage. Maximum memory card capacity supported is 256GB.

There is a 5MP f/2.4 camera on the rear while a 2MP f/2.4 camera is in front for video calls. The tablet also has stereo speakers with Huawei’s Histen audio technology. It runs EMUI 8.0 based on Android 8.0 and has a Children’s Corner with parental controls. The tablet comes in LTE and Wi-Fi only versions and has a 5100mAH battery capacity.

The rumor has turned out to be true as the Chinese manufacturer has introduced the Huawei MediaPad T5 mid-range tablet in India. The tablet has a starting price of Rs. 14,990 and it will be available for purchase starting from next week in the country.

Huawei MediaPad T5 Specifications and Features

The MediaPad T5 is the very same tablet that was introduced in China in October 2018 as Honor MediaPad T5 with a starting price of 1,599 Yuan (~$233). The tablet houses a 10.1-inch display that offers full HD resolution of 1920 x 1200 pixels. Huawei has added an Eye Comfort mode for protecting the eyesight of users.

The Kirin 659 chipset that powered many of the Huawei and Honor branded smartphones in late 2017 and 2018 is present under the hood of the device. He has also shared images of the first tablet that will be heading to the country without mentioning its name.

The images show that the first Huawei tablet for India will have thick bezels around the display. It will be equipped with a front-facing camera and a rear-mounted snapper. The tablet is shown in Black color. The wallpaper shown in the image and design of the tablet suggest that it could be MediaPad T5 tablet that was introduced last year in August in China.

Coming back to MediaPad T5, its Wi-Fi only versions such as 3 GB RAM + 32 GB storage and 4 GB RAM + 64 GB storage were respectively unveiled in China with 1,399 Yuan (~$203) and 1,599 Yuan price tags (~$232). The 6 GB RAM + 64 GB storage’s LTE model was introduced in the home market with a price tag of 1,799 Yuan (~$261). If the MediaPad T5 arrives in India, it could be coming with a starting price of less than Rs. 15,000.
