The phone was recently subjected to a teardown by XYZone, a popular Weibo user from China. After taking a look at the internals, he found out that his <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/meizu-16s/">Meizu 16S</a> unit didn&#8217;t have adhesive around the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/snapdragon">Snapdragon</a> 855 processor soldered onto the board. Considering how most flagships in the market come with this adhesive for the processor, he said that this was probably a cost-saving move by the company.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/Screenshot-2019-05-09-at-7.19.41-PM.png?x96852"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-252438" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/Screenshot-2019-05-09-at-7.19.41-PM.png?x96852" alt="Meizu 16S processor adhesive" width="689" height="384" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/Screenshot-2019-05-09-at-7.19.41-PM.png 689w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/Screenshot-2019-05-09-at-7.19.41-PM-300x167.png 300w" sizes="(max-width: 689px) 100vw, 689px" /></a></p>
<p>Meizu initially denied the claim, however, when the issue snowballed, it decided to send a team of engineers down to Shenzhen to investigate XYZone&#8217;s unit. The team confirmed that his unit didn&#8217;t have the adhesive but added that it was a one-off case. After finding out that his unit had an issue, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/meizu">Meizu</a> decided to compensate him with two new units of the same model.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/004.jpg?x96852"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-249391" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/004.jpg?x96852" alt="Meizu 16s color variants" width="3000" height="1789" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/004.jpg 3000w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/004-300x179.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/004-768x458.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/004-1024x611.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/004-696x415.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/004-1068x637.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/004-704x420.jpg 704w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/004-1920x1145.jpg 1920w" sizes="(max-width: 3000px) 100vw, 3000px" /></a></p>
<p>Meizu further released a new video on Weibo showing the assembly process of the Snapdragon 855 processor in the Meizu 16S. In the video (<a href="https://www.weibo.com/tv/v/HtpQmlJxJ?fid=1034:4370106399017681">here</a>), there is a part where we get to see the adhesive being applied around the phone&#8217;s processor. Well, it&#8217;s good to see that Meizu is taking consumer feedback seriously. The video is a pretty nice way to instill confidence among its fans in China.</p>

</ul>
<p>It remains to be seen whether this was really a one-off incident. If not, we should see a lot more case in the coming days. Meanwhile, the same user reported that his Xiaomi Mi 9 also<a href="https://www.ithome.com/0/422/912.htm"> didn&#8217;t have this adhesive</a>. Xiaomi is yet to comment on this matter.</p>
