Even as of several years back when other custom ROMs are being plagued with issues, Meizu&#8217;s Flyme OS has been outstanding. But in the past two years, Flyme&#8217;s progression seems to have slowed down drastically.<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/meizu-flyme-8.jpg?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-272310" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/meizu-flyme-8.jpg?x10805" alt="Flyme 8" width="600" height="800" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/meizu-flyme-8.jpg 600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/meizu-flyme-8-225x300.jpg 225w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/meizu-flyme-8-315x420.jpg 315w" sizes="(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></a></p>
<p>As early as the beginning of this year, Meizu Technology&#8217;s founder Huang Zhang (Jerry Wang) had revealed that Flyme 8 was already in the works. Since then, several details have been revealed but no date was fixed for the release. That is about to change as Meizu may officially unveil Flyme 8 on August 28. A press invite sent out by the Chinese company showed the company will the Flyme 8 OS alongside the Meizu 16s Pro. Already, the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/08/22/meizu-16s-pro-reservations-begin-ahead-of-august-28-launch/">Meizu 16s Pro is expected to drop on August 28 and reservation is even ongoing</a>.<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/meizu-flyme-8-22.jpg?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-272311" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/meizu-flyme-8-22.jpg?x10805" alt="flyme 8 launch" width="600" height="800" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/meizu-flyme-8-22.jpg 600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/meizu-flyme-8-22-225x300.jpg 225w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/meizu-flyme-8-22-315x420.jpg 315w" sizes="(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></a></p>
<p>Flyme 8 is expected to bring a new, refreshed look to the custom ROM with new features such as fingerprint vortex animation, small window 2.0, home guard 3.0, and game mode 4.0. The Meizu 16s Pro is expected to be the first model to get the new custom ROM version. Since the Flyme 8 has been a long time coming, we don&#8217;t expect the company to delay before rolling out updates to its old models.</p>

The company has today officially confirmed that the Flyme 8 will be unveiled on 13th August in China.</p>
<p>The launch of Flyme OS 8 comes a bit earlier than expected. Last month, it was reported that Meizu&#8217;s Flyme 8 will be <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/07/11/meizu-flyme-8-q4-2019/">launched in the fourth quarter</a> of this year, which means somewhere from October to December.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-269234 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/flyme-8-launch-date.jpg?x10805" alt="Meizu Flyme 8 Launch Date Poster" width="620" height="1102" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/flyme-8-launch-date.jpg 620w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/flyme-8-launch-date-169x300.jpg 169w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/flyme-8-launch-date-576x1024.jpg 576w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/flyme-8-launch-date-236x420.jpg 236w" sizes="(max-width: 620px) 100vw, 620px" /></p>
<p>As per the previous reports, the company had started internal testing of the upcoming <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/meizu">Meizu</a> Flyme 8 user interface in the second quarter of this year and the testing phase will be concluded in the third quarter. Now, it seems that testing has been completed successfully and thus, the company is all set to launch it on 13th August.</p>
<p>Earlier this year, Meizu’s product manager Chen Jiaxuan had <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/05/28/flyme-8-poster-appears-launch-imminent/">shared the poster</a> of the upcoming Flyme 8 user interface, which revealed that along with a wide number of features, the company is focusing on making then UI fast and stable.</p>
<div class="su-note" style="border-color:#e5e5e5;border-radius:3px;-moz-border-radius:3px;-webkit-border-radius:3px;"><div class="su-note-inner su-u-clearfix su-u-trim" style="background-color:#ffffff;border-color:#ffffff;color:#333333;border-radius:3px;-moz-border-radius:3px;-webkit-border-radius:3px;"><span style="color: #ff0000"><strong>Editor&#8217;s Pick: </strong></span><a title="Huawei Mate 30 Lite could be the first HongMeng OS powered smartphone" href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/08/09/huawei-mate-30-lite-running-hongmeng-os/" rel="bookmark"><strong>Huawei Mate 30 Lite could be the first HongMeng OS-powered smartphone</strong></a></div></div>
<p>Some of the core features of the Flyme 8 have already been introduced in the Flyme 7.3. Along with a few new features, what remains to be seen is how fast and smooth the upcoming Flyme 8 will be. To know that, we’ll have to wait until the company releases the update officially.</p>
<p>The current version of Meizu&#8217;s custom user interface for Android is <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/05/30/meizu-reveals-list-of-devices-getting-flyme-7-3/">Flyme 7.3</a>, which integrates the Meizu Pay app with the Flyme system for touchless payments experience using the bank, bus and other access cards. It also comes with DC Dimming feature as well as the internal apps like Shutdown Wake 3.0, Smart Free 3.0, Resource Manager 2.0, Memory compression 2.0, etc have been optimized for better performance.</p>
