A new Motorola phone with model number XT2409-5 has received approval from China’s TENA certification platform. This phone is speculated to be the Moto S50 Neo, the Chinese variant of the Motorola Edge 50 Neo. This phone has also obtained network access approval in the country.

In the latest news, tipster @WHYLAB speculates that this phone uses the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 Accelerated Edition chipset. It was previously revealed that the octa-core CPU reaches a clock speed of 2.5GHz, which also supports the speculation. Reportedly this is the same chipset that powers the Honor 90.

For those unfamiliar, the chipset packs a Cortex-A710 clocked at 2.5GHz alongside three other Cortex-A710 cores clocked at 2.36GHz and four Cortex-A510 cores clocked at 1.8 GHz. It uses the Adreno 644 GPU. This chipset supports LPDDR4X memory and UFS 2.2 storage. It could be paired with up to 16GB RAM and 1TB storage.

According to previous reports, the Moto S50 Neo will be available in three colors – Grisaille (black), Nautical Blue, Poinciana (red), and Latte (beige). As you can see from the image above, the phone comes with a familiar back design. Speaking of the camera system, it is expected to pack a 50-megapixel main sensor, a 13-megapixel ultrawide sensor, a 10-megapixel telephoto, and another 32-megapixel one for the selfie camera. The telephoto on the back could offer 3x magnification.

The Motorola S50 Neo is expected to come with a 6.36-inch OLED FHD+ display with a resolution of 1200 x 2670 pixels that will display 10-bit colors. It is also expected to pack a 4300 mAh battery and weigh 172 grams.

Motorola launched the Moto S50 Neo earlier this week in China. Now the phone is on sale in the country. The pricing of the variants are listed below:

• 8GB + 256GB – 1,399 (~$192)
• 12GB + 256GB – 1,599 (~$220)
• 12GB + 512GB – 1,899 (~$261)

The phone adopts a PANTONE-validated camera system with OIS. The collaboration with PANTONE suggests natural and life-like colors in images and videos.

The S50 Neo comes in three color options: Gray, Olivine, and Surf. The latter two are made of are both made of high-tech nano-leather. It shows a lambskin-like texture, which offers a soft touch feel.

On the front, the phone equips a micro-curved P-OLED screen that reaches a peak brightness of 1600 nits. This display supports a 120Hz refresh rate, HDR 10+, and DCI-P3 wide color gamut. The phone comes with narrow bezels and offers a screen-to-body ratio of 91.6%. For protection, the phone adopts Corning Gorilla Glass. The display also comes with SGS eye protection certification and DC dimming, which is considered to be beneficial for long-term use cases, especially in low-light conditions.

On the back, the phone houses a 50MP + 8MP dual camera system. The main camera uses the Sony IMX882 sensor and also comes with OIS. On the front, there is a 32MP centered punch-hole selfie camera.

Speaking of the in-hand experience, the phone comes with slightly rounded edges. The display and the back panel are also curved on the sides. Besides being comfortable to hold, the phone is also lightweight and weighs only 171 g or 173 g based on different materials (plastic or eco-leather) on the back. The phone is measured at 7.6mm in thickness.

The Moto S50 Neo runs on the 6nm processed Snapdragon 6s Gen 3 chipset and comes in the following memory and storage configurations – 256GB 8GB RAM, 256GB 12GB RAM, and 512GB 12GB RAM. The phone packs a 5000mAh battery and supports 30W wired charging.

Some of the key highlights of the device include a curved display, a long-lasting battery, and longer software support. Read on to know what the device offers out of the box. 

Moto S50 Neo series specifications and features 

The Moto S50 Neo has a 6.7-inch pOLED curved 10-bit display. It bears an FHD+ resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate for smooth visuals, and a 1,600 nits peak brightness for outdoor visibility. The screen is integrated with a fingerprint scanner. Design-wise, the phone has a slim profile with a raised rear camera module. It is water-resistant thanks to the IP54 rating. 

The Moto S50 Neo’s dual camera setup consists of a 50MP Sony IMX882 sensor with OIS support. It is paired with an 8MP ultra-wide-angle lens that also works as a macro and depth shooter. Up front, the phone has a 32MP selfie snapper. 

Internally, a Snapdragon 6s Gen 3 processor powers the Moto S50 Neo. It packs up to 12GB RAM and 512GB internal storage. The smartphone is backed by a 5,000mAh battery unit that can be topped with support for 30W charging. Software-wise, the device ships with Android 14 OS out of the box. It is the first phone in the world to be eligible for four years of OS updates.

The Moto S50 Neo starts at CNY 1,399 (~$192) for the base 8GB + 256GB variant. Meanwhile, the 12GB + 256GB and 12GB + 512GB configurations are priced at CNY 1,599 (~$220) and CNY 1,899 (~$261). The phone is offered in Gray, Olivine, and Surf that are developed in partnership with Pantone. It will be available for purchase in China from June 28.

OnePlus Nord CE 4 Lite

The OnePlus Nord CE 4 Lite is scheduled to launch in India on June 24 (Monday). Going by the official teasers and leaks, the device will be a rebranded Oppo K12x.

Therefore, it will come with a Snapdragon 695 chip, a 6.67-inch 120Hz OLED display, a 50MP primary camera, a 5,500mAh battery, and 80W charging support.

In other words, the phone will retain the SoC from its predecessors, however, it will finally sport an OLED screen instead of an LCD panel.

Motorola Razr 50 Series and Moto S50 Neo

Motorola will host a conference in China and select global markets on June 25 (Tuesday) The company will unveil Razr 50, Razr 50 Ultra, and Moto S50 Neo.

The Razr 50 Ultra will arrive with a Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chipset, dual 50MP cameras, a 6.9-inch main display, and a 4-inch cover screen. On the other hand, the vanilla Razr 50 will come with a similar 6.9-inch primary display but a smaller 3.6-inch cover screen and a less powerful MediaTek Dimesnity 7300X SoC

Further, the Moto S50 Neo will offer a 6.6-inch OLED display, a Snapdragon chip, a 50MP main camera, a 5,000mAh battery, and 33W charging support.

OnePlus Ace 3 Pro

The OnePlus Ace 3 Pro will be announced on June 27 (Thursday) in China. The handset will be accompanied by OnePlus Pad Pro, OnePlus Watch 3, and OnePlus Buds 3.

The phone will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC. It will come with a 6.78-inch 1.5K 120Hz OLED display, a 50MP Sony LYT-800 main camera, a 6,100mAh battery, and 100W charging support.

The device will be offered with up to 24GB RAM and 1TB storage. 

Vivo T3 Lite

The Vivo T3 Lite 5G will be made official in India on June 27 (Thursday). It will be the third product in the lineup after Vivo T3 and Vivo T3x.

As per rumors, the handset will be powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 6300 chipset. Further, it will arrive with a 50MP main camera and a 120Hz display.

It will reportedly go official as the most affordable 5G smartphone from Vivo in India.

By rolling out the following post, the company confirmed that the S50 Neo will arrive with a 4-year warranty.

Moto S50 Neo to arrive with a 4-year warranty

Remarkably, the Moto S50 Neo will be the world’s first smartphone to offer a 4-year warranty. According to the fine print on the promotional poster, this warranty includes a standard 1-year warranty and a complimentary 3-year extended warranty.

Previously, some models from Xiaomi, OnePlus, Lenovo, and others have offered 2-year warranties, with Meizu’s 20 and 21 series providing 3-year warranties during special promotions. However, the Motorola S50 Neo sets a new industry benchmark with its 4-year warranty.

The specific details on how to avail the extended warranty for the Moto S50 Neo are yet to be disclosed by the company. This extensive warranty aims to alleviate consumer concerns by addressing any issues within the 4-year period, thereby providing a worry-free experience for users. According to reports, the global market will rebrand the S50 Neo as the Moto G85 5G. It is unlikely that the G85 will arrive with a 4-year warranty.

As per reports, the Moto S50 Neo features a 6.6-inch OLED curved-edge screen that offers an FHD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate, as well as an under-display fingerprint scanner. It is likely to feature a new mid-range Snapdragon chipset and a 5000mAh battery within a slim 7.59mm body. The device will come with other features, such as 33W rapid charging, 50-megapixel dual rear cameras, a 32-megapixel front camera, and Android 14. It will come in black, green, and blue shades.
