They belong to three series: C, G, and X. The C series always included the most affordable Nokia phones and it is the same for the new handsets launched: Nokia C10 and Nokia C20. This is a comparison between the Nokia C10 and the Nokia C20, but it won’t be like the other comparison we usually publish. We will describe the phones instead of focusing on their differences because there are only two important differences between the phones. We are talking about the processor and the memory configurations: for all the rest, they are pretty much the same.

Design

Nokia C10 and Nokia C20 come with a pretty modern design for an entry-level phone. They have a display with narrow bezels and a waterdrop notch including the front camera. Unfortunately, you do not get a fingerprint reader with these devices. The body is made of cheap polycarbonate and there is a circular camera module in the middle of the rear side. The volume rocker and the power key are placed on the right side of the phone. The upper border houses a 3.5 mm audio jack allowing you to connect your headphones, while the inferior border includes the speaker, the microphone, and a micro USB 2.0 port for charging the battery.

Display

The display of the Nokia C10 and the Nokia C20 has a diagonal of 6.52 inches and shows images with an HD+ resolution (720 x 1600 pixels). It has a 20:9 aspect ratio and it is an IPS LCD panel. Do not expect a high image quality from this panel: it is a low-end display with a sufficient but not exciting resolution, and not so accurate colors. The display covers more than 75 percent of the front panel and comes with a waterdrop notch for the front camera.

Specs & Software

The Nokia C10 and the Nokia C20 come with entry-level processors manufactured by Unisoc. The Nokia C10 has a Unisoc SC7331E, while the Nokia C20 has a Unisoc SC9863A. The latter is more powerful than the former: it is an octa-core processor (and not quad-core like the SC7331E) and it provides a higher clock frequency. Nokia C10 debuted in three memory configurations: the most affordable one has 1 GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal storage, then you get a 2/16 GB version and a 2/32 GB configuration if you need more internal storage. The native storage is expandable with a micro SD. The Nokia C20 comes in two memory options: 1/16 GB and 2/32 GB. If it was not for the presence of Android 11 Go as the operating system, these hardware departments would not be sufficient to guarantee decent performance with daily usage. But Android 11 Go Edition is an enlightened version of the operating system made for devices with outdated and low-end hardware departments. Nokia C10 and C20 will get 2 years of major Android updates and two years of security updates.

Camera

Nokia C10 and Nokia C20 sport entry-level cameras: unfortunately, they do not provide high-end camera performance and they are disappointing for those who are searching for a decent camera phone. They have just one camera on the rear side: a 5 MP sensor. The same 5 MP sensor is placed on the waterdrop notch above the display, but the interesting thing is that it is paired with a front-facing LED flash allowing to shoot selfies even in the dark.

Battery

Nokia C10 and Nokia C20 are equipped with a 3000 mAh battery. It is not a big battery and it is below-average if compared to other phones, but given that these devices come with entry-level specifications (such as the HD+ display and the low-end Unisoc chipset), it is more than sufficient to guarantee a good battery life.

Price

The starting price tag of the Nokia C10 in the global market is €80/$95, while the Nokia C20 starts from €90/$108. If you were wondering which one to go for, given the narrow price difference, we strongly recommend opting for the Nokia C20 in order to get a better mobile platform. For an entry-level phone like these, it is important to have at least an octa-core processor in order to get decent performance.

The Nokia C10 adopts a nearly similar design to the C20. Both models adopt a decent 6.52-inch LCD display with an HD+ resolution of 720pixels and a 20:9 aspect ratio. The LCD screen is capable of hitting a peak brightness of 400 nits and has 70% NTSC coverage. There is also a layer of Panda Glass protection ontop of the display.

Both models are powered by entry-level Unisoc processors with the C20 packing a Unisoc SC9863a processor while the Nokia C10 is powered by a Unisoc SC7331e chip which is the same SoC used on the Nokia C1. The processors are paired with 1GB/2GB of RAM on both models while there is 16GB and 32GB of internal storage onboard the models. If you consider the internal storage inadequate, there is a microSD slot on the smartphones.

As per various reports, it is going to revamp the Nokia smartphone naming scheme and bring new ones like Nokia G10, G20, X10, X20. Alongside these devices, it is also expected to bring a Nokia C20 and now, the device has appeared on Bluetooth SIG certification.

As reported by MySmartPrice, four models of HMD Global Oy smartphones TA-1339, TA-1348, TA-1352, TA-1356 appear on the Bluetooth SIG website. All of them are certified as Nokia C20.

If you recall, an exclusive report by nokiapoweruser said that Nokia C20 might accompany the April 8 event of HMD Global. The specs leaked by the report suggested that the device could be another entry-level offering like the Nokia 1.xx series.

Coming back, the listing further shows the required QDID design is from the Unisoc (Shanghai) Technologies Co Ltd., but it doesn’t explicitly confirm anything about the processor inside.

Previously, Nokia has used the Chinese semiconductor maker UNISOC chipsets on Nokia C3 so it shouldn’t come as a surprise if the Nokia C20 indeed has one. Speaking of which, the Nokia C20 is expected to arrive with 1GB RAM and 16GB internal storage variant.

Amidst reports of it running the Android 11 Go edition, it has been spotted on HTML5 test page shows running Android 11 OS. Apart from this, you can expect the Nokia C20 to launch in two colors – Blue and Sand options.

Last but not the least, Nokia C20 is said to retail somewhere around 89 euros(~$106). This is almost closer to the price of the Nokia C3 which launched for a price of 669 yuan($101) in China.

We had so many events that it was a bit hard to keep count of the many devices that launched in the span of a month. Well, if you had thought of taking a breather, hold on, because we are back with yet another edition of Upcoming Smartphones April 2021 Edition.

As usual, we have entries from well-known brands like OPPO, Xiaomi, Redmi, realme, Nokia, and a few surprises from companies like Sony and TCL. So without wasting your time, let’s dive into it straight away.

Redmi Gaming Smartphone

Gaming smartphones have their own niche audience and companies like ASUS, Nubia, Black Shark never fail to tap into the excitement. However, they are going to have a new entry and probably a potential rival, Redmi.

Redmi’s Product Director Wang Teng has confirmed that the company will hold a launch event this month and rumors are rife that the star of the show could be the Redmi’s first gaming phone. So far, we know that a device with model number M2104K10C/M2104K10I under respective brands Redmi/POCO could be the upcoming device.

It is confirmed to feature MediaTek Dimensity 1200 chipset something that we saw in the likes of realme GT Neo as well.

Samsung Galaxy F12, F02s

Samsung is beginning the month by launching two devices under the F-series- Galaxy F12, Galaxy F02s on April 5. Teasers so far hint that they share a lot of specs with the already launched Galaxy M12 and M02s.

The device is likely to debut in India under the ₹40,000($547) price tag. The iQOO 7, which has already launched in China, features a 6.62-inch AMOLED FHD+ 120Hz display, Snapdragon 888 with up to 12GB LPDDR5 RAM, UFS 3.1 storage.

Other features of the iQOO 7 include a 48MP triple-cameras, 16MP selfie shooter, Monster touch, L-shaped VC plate for cooling, 4,000mAh battery, and Android 11 OS.

Other expected launches

realme 8 5G, realme 8i

realme has already confirmed that it will launch a 5G version of the realme 8 and a budget-friendly realme 8i in India. Out of this, the realme 8 5G has already stopped at FCC certification.

However, this launch might skipped to next month as well so take this with a pinch of salt.

Vivo V21 series

Vivo V21 series was rumored to come before in India but that hasn’t happened yet. The company had other ideas and brought a flagship X60 series to the country. However, it could soon launch one of the supposed members of the V21 series- Vivo V21 SE.

Reports reveal that it could be a rebadged version of the iQOO U3 which means it could come with a Dimensity 800U chipset with 5G support. Let’s hope that Vivo doesn’t skip any further.

Oppo A74 4G & 5G, A94 & A54 5G

OPPO is said to bring the remaining devices of the OPPO Axx series and it might happen this month. The company has already unveiled the OPPO A54 4G version already. Next in line could be the OPPO A74, A54, and A94 5G models.

The OPPO A74 4G is said to come in certain markets as rebranded OPPO F19 while the 5G version could have Snapdragon 480 chipset.

On the other hand, the OPPO A94 5G could be the OPPO F19 Pro+ 5G for Europe whereas OPPO A54 5G is said to be a rebadged version of OPPO A93 5G.

Huawei P50 series

When it comes to Huawei, things haven’t been so smooth lately. The company is struggling a lot to gather the supply chain after the US ban and it is hitting them hard. Previously rumored to come this month, the launch of the Huawei P50 series looks to be a far cry for now.

However, anything can happen in between so let’s hope that Huawei turns tables to come back stronger.

Here, the company is expected to several smartphones like the Nokia G10, G20, X10, X20. Now, a report by nokiapoweruser.com says that the Nokia C20 might join the list of devices for the day.

Representative image: Nokia C3

As per the report, Nokia C20 will be available in 1GB RAM and 16GB internal storage variant. The last time Nokia launched a 1GB RAM phone, it was the Nokia 1.4 from February 2021.

Given Nokia’s recent change of naming conventions like the G-series, it is possible that the Nokia C20 might either replace the Nokia 1.xx lineup or be the successor of the C-series of devices from 2020.

Mind you, we have a device named Nokia C1 Plus from Dec. 2020 with 2GB RAM and Nokia C3 from August 2020 with a 3GB RAM variant so it’s really unclear what Nokia C20 is going to succeed at this point.

Anyway, the Nokia C20 is expected to launch in two colors – Blue and Sand options. It is also expected to run Android 11 Go edition and the HTML5 test page shows that it’s running Android 11. Lastly, the device is likely to be priced around 89 euros(~$106).

Looking at multiple news about HMD Global lately, I think that they are finally addressing the issue of the confusing naming scheme of their devices. However, naming isn’t everything as the internals and pricing play a major role in the company’s sales charts.

I just hope that HMD Global renovates itself in 2021 and launches phones with good price-to-performance ratios and not end up like last year.
