<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/?s=oneplus">OnePlus</a> forayed in to the television segment with the Q1 series way back in 2019. It was the brand’s first flagship TV with premium specifications and features. At the time of launch, the Q1 and Q1 Pro shipped with pre-installed Android 9 OS out of the box. Now, as per a tech creator on the X (formerly Twitter) platform, the OnePlus TV Q1 is receiving a surprising software update.&nbsp;</p>

<h2>OnePlus TV Q1 receiving a surprising software update</h2>

<figure class="wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper">
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-width="550" data-dnt="true"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Something very interesting happened<br><br>Suddenly, out of nowhere, OnePlus gave the update to the old OnePlus TV Q1, launched in 2019<br><br>As we know, OnePlus has stopped making TVs<br><br>But the surprising thing is that they are giving an update from Android 9 to Android 11 <a href="https://t.co/Y29qwqbDUl">pic.twitter.com/Y29qwqbDUl</a></p>&mdash; Utsav Techie (@utsavtechie) <a href="https://twitter.com/utsavtechie/status/1751891155430817965?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">January 29, 2024</a></blockquote><script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>
</div></figure>

<p>Utsav Techie has shared an image of the OnePlus TV Q1 getting a software update notification. It reveals some key details. For starters, the newest version has a firmware number OPTVIN.2.A.01_GLO_082_2312290405. The update package weighs 820MB in size. The update notes that the Android version is upgraded from 9 to 11. It packs enhanced security and privacy levels, updated several apps, and bug fixes and performance improvements.&nbsp;</p>

<p>This is quite surprising and great for the owners of the OnePlus TV Q1 who have been stuck on the dated Android version 9. We assume the Android 11 version on televisions offers many more features. However, it’s worth noting that the brand has not shared any official details of the software update rollout on the TV Q1. </p>

<p>To recall, the OnePlus TV Q1 has a 55-inch QLED display with MEMC, Dolby Vision, and support for HDR10 formats. It is equipped with a 50W quad-speakers. The television features a carbon-fiber pattern on the back case. It comes with built-in Google Assistant and Chromecast as well as pre-installed OTT apps. During the launch, it was announced that the OnePlus TV Q1 will get three Android TV updates. </p>

<p>During the launch, <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/oneplus">OnePlus</a> promised that the TVs will receive software support for three years. OnePlus is keen on keeping its promise and has begun rolling out its very first update to the two TVs less just a few days after they were announced.</p>
<p>The update arrives as version TV55Q1IN_2.A.01_GLO_14_1909210202, weighs in at 813MB and fixes some issues while bringing new features.</p>
<p>For example, the picture overexposure issue reported by early reviewers has been fixed. The light effects on the speaker of the Q1 Pro now works in Bluetooth stereo mode and syncs with whatever song you are playing. The remote control function in the <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/oneplus">OnePlus</a> Connect App now provides haptic feedback when you press the on-screen buttons. <em>XDA-Developers</em> reports that there is a clicking sound effect if the phone is in ringer mode and when in vibration mode, the phone vibrates when you tap the buttons. Below is the full changelog:</p>
<ul>
<li>Improve the user experience of OnePlus Connect</li>
<li>Support directly open Bluetooth Stereo by phone</li>
<li>Add new light effect in Bluetooth Stereo mode</li>
<li>Optimize DLNA music case performance</li>
<li>Fix picture overexposure issue</li>
<li>Optimize remote control button click sound effect</li>
<li>Other bug fixes</li>
</ul>
<p>The OnePlus TV Q1 and Q1 Pro have a 55-inch 4K QLED display. They have a sound output of 50W with the Pro version sporting 8 speaker units while the standard model has 4. They run Android TV with support for Google Assistant and Alexa. There is dual-band WiFi, Bluetooth 5.0, and four HDMI ports with port 2 having support for eARC.</p>

<p>The TVs boasts some unique features not available on a lot of other smart TVs such as a special integration with your phone which brings additional features such as <em>TypeSync</em> which allows you to type on your TV screen using the keyboard on your phone and <em>Smart Volume Control</em> which automatically reduces the volume of your TV when you receive a phone call.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/OnePlus-TV-01.jpg?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-279360" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/OnePlus-TV-01.jpg?x10805" alt="OnePlus TV 01" width="1920" height="1079" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/OnePlus-TV-01.jpg 1920w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/OnePlus-TV-01-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/OnePlus-TV-01-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/OnePlus-TV-01-1024x575.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/OnePlus-TV-01-696x391.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/OnePlus-TV-01-1068x600.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/OnePlus-TV-01-747x420.jpg 747w" sizes="(max-width: 1920px) 100vw, 1920px" /></a></p>
<p>However, the OnePlus TV Q1 and OnePlus TV Q1 Pro are pretty expensive with a price tag of INR 69,900 ($985) and INR 99,900 (~$1400) respectively. That is sure out of the budget for a lot of people. While OnePlus may announce more affordable models in the future, we doubt that it will have a model that will be priced as low as some of Xiaomi&#8217;s own models whose affordable price tags have helped it shoot to the top of the smart TV market.</p>
<p>If OnePlus wants to increase drastically the number of users of its customized Android TV platform, we think the best and easiest way to do that will be to release a TV box or TV stick similar to Xiaomi&#8217;s <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/Mi-box">Mi Box</a> or Amazon&#8217;s <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/fire-TV">Fire TV Stick</a>.</p>
<p><figure id="attachment_279331" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-279331" style="width: 1920px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><img loading="lazy" class="wp-image-279331 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/IMG_0736.jpg?x10805" alt="OnePlus TV Remote featured" width="1920" height="1079" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/IMG_0736.jpg 1920w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/IMG_0736-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/IMG_0736-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/IMG_0736-1024x575.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/IMG_0736-696x391.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/IMG_0736-1068x600.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/IMG_0736-747x420.jpg 747w" sizes="(max-width: 1920px) 100vw, 1920px" /><figcaption id="caption-attachment-279331" class="wp-caption-text">OnePlus TV Remote</figcaption></figure></p>
<p>This TV box or TV stick can even use the same remote as the one that ships with the OnePlus TV which should cut the development by half. Also, with a TV box or TV stick, owners can take their “setup” anywhere such as when they are on holidays or visiting a relative or friend.</p>
<p>So for this week&#8217;s poll, we want to know if you will be willing to purchase a OnePlus TV box or TV stick that brings all the software features of the OnePlus TV Q1/Q1 Pro including the promised three-years of software support.</p>
<p>Do vote and share the post with your friends and maybe, just maybe, OnePlus will see there is a market for a TV box and or dongle and make one.</p>

<p>The TV drops in two models- OnePlus TV Q1 and OnePlus TV Q1 Pro. Both models are equipped with a 55-inch <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/qled">QLED</a> display panel with a sleek minimalist design, as OnePlus puts it. The display panel holds a high-screen ratio thanks to the near bezel-less design. The OnePlus TV models debut with <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/08/20/pete-lau-reveals-oneplus-tv-has-quantum-dot-screen-launches-next-month/">Quantum dot</a> color and support both Dolby Vision and HDR10+. The company says the TV’s color range is best-in-class among QLED competitors.<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/oneplus-tv-q1-pro.png?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-278954" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/oneplus-tv-q1-pro.png?x10805" alt="OnePlus TV Q1" width="820" height="477" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/oneplus-tv-q1-pro.png 820w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/oneplus-tv-q1-pro-300x175.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/oneplus-tv-q1-pro-768x447.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/oneplus-tv-q1-pro-696x405.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/oneplus-tv-q1-pro-722x420.png 722w" sizes="(max-width: 820px) 100vw, 820px" /></a></p>
<p><span class="css-901oao css-16my406 r-1qd0xha r-ad9z0x r-bcqeeo r-qvutc0">OnePlus claims the <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/smart-tv">smart TV</a> models present with one of the most powerful sound systems out there.</span> It is equipped with a 50-watt eight-speaker setup that is said to provide a “surreal surround sound experience” through Dolby Atmos support. The speaker bar design is yet another design marvel as it lowers down from the bottom of the TV and retracts into its compartment when the TV is turned off.<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/mvimg_20190926_211058.jpg?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-278987" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/mvimg_20190926_211058.jpg?x10805" alt="" width="4032" height="3024" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/mvimg_20190926_211058.jpg 4032w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/mvimg_20190926_211058-300x225.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/mvimg_20190926_211058-768x576.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/mvimg_20190926_211058-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/mvimg_20190926_211058-80x60.jpg 80w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/mvimg_20190926_211058-265x198.jpg 265w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/mvimg_20190926_211058-696x522.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/mvimg_20190926_211058-1068x801.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/mvimg_20190926_211058-560x420.jpg 560w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/mvimg_20190926_211058-1920x1440.jpg 1920w" sizes="(max-width: 4032px) 100vw, 4032px" /></a></p>
<p>The smart TV also features the usual connectivity ports &#8211; AV, HDMI, USB and others on the back panel.   In addition, the design of the OnePlus TV models also <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/09/09/oneplus-tv-to-feature-a-monitor-like-swivel-stand-with-carbon-fiber-finish/">includes a cool swivel stand</a> which we believe is detachable in case you prefer to mount the TV on the wall.<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/oneplus-tv-q1-pro-3.png?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-278956" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/oneplus-tv-q1-pro-3.png?x10805" alt="OnePlus TV Q1 Pro" width="796" height="476" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/oneplus-tv-q1-pro-3.png 796w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/oneplus-tv-q1-pro-3-300x179.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/oneplus-tv-q1-pro-3-768x459.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/oneplus-tv-q1-pro-3-696x416.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/oneplus-tv-q1-pro-3-702x420.png 702w" sizes="(max-width: 796px) 100vw, 796px" /></a></p>

<p>There is no word on when the products will go sale in India. OnePlus CEO Pete Lau had earlier hinted that the company was working hard to launch OnePlus TV in North America, Europe and China regions as soon as partnerships are established with most of the local and regional content providers. The OnePlus TV was also revealed to have got models for Europe and America when it <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/08/07/oneplus-tv-listed-on-bluetooth-sig-website-revealing-the-screen-sizes-and-other-details/">received Bluetooth certification</a>. So, expect the sleek TV to come to a store shelf near you soon.</p>

<p>Both TVs will have a MediaTek MT5670 processor paired with 2.5GB of RAM and 16GB of storage. There is also a <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/09/04/oneplus-announces-gamma-color-magic-dedicated-picture-chip-for-oneplus-tv/">Gamma Color Magic image processor</a>. The leak reveals the TVs will run OxygenOS TV on top of Android TV and will have Chromecast built-in, Netflix and Amazon Prime Video and Audio.</p>
<p>When it comes to connectivity, the OnePlus TV does not fall short. There are 3 HDMI ports including HDMI ARC, 2 USB ports, 1 RJ45 port, Bluetooth 5.0, and dual-band WiFi. There is also an S/PDIF port and analog audio out. The TV also has a TV tuner and is VESA compliant for mounting on the wall.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-277165" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/OnePlus-TV-spec-sheet.jpeg?x10805" alt="OnePlus TV spec sheet" width="1024" height="629" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/OnePlus-TV-spec-sheet.jpeg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/OnePlus-TV-spec-sheet-300x184.jpeg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/OnePlus-TV-spec-sheet-768x472.jpeg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/OnePlus-TV-spec-sheet-356x220.jpeg 356w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/OnePlus-TV-spec-sheet-696x428.jpeg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/OnePlus-TV-spec-sheet-684x420.jpeg 684w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></p>
<p>The images from the leak also give us another look at the remote and it reveals that the blank button from the official image shared is actually an Amazon Prime Video button. We are not sure but we think the function of that button may differ in other markets. So maybe Amazon Prime Video for India and Netflix for Europe and America. The remote has a dedicated Google Assistant button, so there is a microphone in it.</p>
<p>The source reports that the OnePlus TV Q1 and OnePlus TV Q1 Pro may be priced around INR 64,999 (~$911). It sure is pricey but OnePlus already said its TV is a premium product and won&#8217;t come cheap.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-277161" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/OnePlus-TV-rear.jpg?x10805" alt="OnePlus TV rear" width="800" height="763" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/OnePlus-TV-rear.jpg 800w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/OnePlus-TV-rear-300x286.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/OnePlus-TV-rear-768x732.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/OnePlus-TV-rear-696x664.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/OnePlus-TV-rear-440x420.jpg 440w" sizes="(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px" /></p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-277164" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/OnePlus-TV-remote.jpeg?x10805" alt="OnePlus TV remote" width="1024" height="686" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/OnePlus-TV-remote.jpeg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/OnePlus-TV-remote-300x201.jpeg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/OnePlus-TV-remote-768x515.jpeg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/OnePlus-TV-remote-696x466.jpeg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/OnePlus-TV-remote-627x420.jpeg 627w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></p>
<p>At that price, the OnePlus TV will surely be out of the reach of many but there are several other options too. Xaomi just announced a bunch of new TVs for the Indian market. The <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/09/17/xiaomi-launches-premium-mi-tv-4x-series-and-mi-tv-4a-in-india/">Mi TV 4X</a> starts at INR 24,999 (~$350) for the 43-inch model and maxes out at INR 54,999 (~$766) for the 65-inch model. It also boasts a 4K panel with HDR, runs Android TV, and has Google Assistant built-in.</p>
<p>If you want something different, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/09/16/six-motorola-tvs-introduced-in-india-with-rs-13999-196-starting-price/">Motorola&#8217;s TV lineup</a> even has a cheaper base price of less than $200 and even has specs similar to that of the OnePlus TV and better audio than the Mi TV 4X. Its most expensive model with a 65-inch UHD screen goes up to INR 64,999 (~$910), so it will compete well with the OnePlus TV.</p>
<p>A lot of folks may want to go with the OnePlus TV because of the software experience it will offer. However, not a lot of folks will be able to afford that which is why we hope OnePlus makes a TV box or stick in the near future that runs OxygenOS TV, so more people can enjoy its software experience without shelling out so much money.</p>
