<p>For the unaware, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/Huawei/">Huawei</a>’s operating system HarmonyOS also arrives in an open-source version called OpenHarmony. The first version of this software was released in September 2020.</p>

<p>Initially, it was only compatible with low-hardware devices with RISC-V chips and up to 128MB RAM. Over the next few years, the operating system improved a lot that it can now <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2023/03/20/oneplus-6t-running-android-13-openharmony-4-0/">boot on smartphones</a> and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2023/02/23/harmonyos-installed-on-pc/">laptops</a>.</p>

<p>A company part of the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/HarmonyOS/">HarmonyOS</a> ecosystem recently unveiled a phone with OpenHarmony 4.0 on board. Let’s take a look at this handset.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="576" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/OpenHarmony-Developer-Mobile-Development-Board-1024x576.jpg?x44794" alt="OpenHarmony Developer Mobile Development Board" class="wp-image-574081" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/OpenHarmony-Developer-Mobile-Development-Board-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/OpenHarmony-Developer-Mobile-Development-Board-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/OpenHarmony-Developer-Mobile-Development-Board-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/OpenHarmony-Developer-Mobile-Development-Board-1536x864.jpg 1536w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/OpenHarmony-Developer-Mobile-Development-Board-2048x1152.jpg 2048w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/OpenHarmony-Developer-Mobile-Development-Board-696x392.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/OpenHarmony-Developer-Mobile-Development-Board-1068x601.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/OpenHarmony-Developer-Mobile-Development-Board-1920x1080.jpg 1920w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/OpenHarmony-Developer-Mobile-Development-Board-747x420.jpg 747w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>This new smartphone <a href="https://www.ithome.com/0/724/048.htm">comes</a> from Shenzhen Qianhai New Silk Road Technology Co., Ltd. It is not intended for consumers and is rather targeted at OpenHarmony developers.</p>

<p>One of the things that makes <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/Android/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Android</a> successful is that it is open source. As you may know, manufacturers can customize the operating system and add a unique version to their smartphones. This enables unique interfaces to emerge, and dozens of brands using the same operating system can offer different experiences. Now, something similar is happening with Huawei&#8217;s own operating system. FlyHong OS Lite has launched based on <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/HarmonyOS/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">HarmonyOS</a>. Here are the details…</p>

<h2><strong>FlyHong OS Lite launched based on HarmonyOS</strong></h2>

<p>Fuzhou Huisibo Information Technology has recently launched FlyHong OS Lite. This is a new operating system based on open source <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/HarmonyOS/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">HarmonyOS</a> (OpenHarmony). The new OS is specifically designed for the financial terminal industry and has received the China UnionPay Financial Digital Service Terminal Operating System Authentication certificate. </p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="576" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/flyhong-os-lite-based-on-harmonyos-launches-1024x576.webp?x44794" alt="HarmonyOS" class="wp-image-515879" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/flyhong-os-lite-based-on-harmonyos-launches-1024x576.webp 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/flyhong-os-lite-based-on-harmonyos-launches-300x169.webp 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/flyhong-os-lite-based-on-harmonyos-launches-768x432.webp 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/flyhong-os-lite-based-on-harmonyos-launches-696x392.webp 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/flyhong-os-lite-based-on-harmonyos-launches-1068x601.webp 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/flyhong-os-lite-based-on-harmonyos-launches-747x420.webp 747w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/flyhong-os-lite-based-on-harmonyos-launches.webp 1280w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>FlyHong OS Lite has tested by the Bank Card Testing Center (BCTC) to ensure that it meets all industry requirements. The review of operating system covered various aspects such as basic functions of the operating system, financial service functions, interface layers, system services, layers, security, component functionality, stability, and compatibility. FlyHong OS passed all tests successfully.</p>

<p>FlyHong OS Lite also offers a wide range of financial capabilities, security capabilities, and system customization capabilities based on OpenHarmony. Financial digital service terminals provide all-around protection for system security, data security, and application security.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="728" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/flyhong-os-lite-based-on-harmonyos-launches-1-1024x728.jpeg?x44794" alt="HarmonyOS" class="wp-image-515880" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/flyhong-os-lite-based-on-harmonyos-launches-1-1024x728.jpeg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/flyhong-os-lite-based-on-harmonyos-launches-1-300x213.jpeg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/flyhong-os-lite-based-on-harmonyos-launches-1-768x546.jpeg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/flyhong-os-lite-based-on-harmonyos-launches-1-696x494.jpeg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/flyhong-os-lite-based-on-harmonyos-launches-1-1068x759.jpeg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/flyhong-os-lite-based-on-harmonyos-launches-1-591x420.jpeg 591w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/flyhong-os-lite-based-on-harmonyos-launches-1-100x70.jpeg 100w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/flyhong-os-lite-based-on-harmonyos-launches-1.jpeg 1164w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>This means that financial institutions can be confident that their data and applications are secure and protected from unauthorized access. FlyHong OS has also received the OpenHarmony 3.1 release version compatibility review and received the OpenHarmony Ecosystem Product Compatibility Certificate.</p>

<p>The main question is whether the number of devices using this <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/HarmonyOS/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">HarmonyOS</a> will increase. In fact, it all depends on the success of projects like FlyHong OS Lite. If these OpenHarmony-based operating systems are successful, many more companies may use the Chinese technology giant&#8217;s Android rival operating system in the future.</p>
