Oppo is all set to compete with Samsung’s Z Fold 3 smartphone as a fresh leak from notorious tipster Digital Chat Station sheds some light on its existence. As rumored earlier, Oppo is touted to launch a new foldable smartphone soon and its arrival seems closer than expected.

According to the tipster, the unnamed Oppo foldable phone will feature a low-temperature polycrystalline oxide(LTPO) display. The smartphone will run on ColorOS 12 out of the box and is expected to have Android 12 underneath. Unfortunately, there’s nothing else to reveal about its specs. However, the tipster confirms that there isn’t too long until we see the foldable machine into reality.

Apart from this, the smartphone will indeed be an enticing foldable option for consumers in the market. We expect the device to feature flagship-grade specifications. It may come powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 SoC and boast more than one screen. The smartphone is also expected to bring good camera hardware to the table.

Given that reports of the Oppo foldable phone have begun to gain traction, we anticipate that the smartphone will become official in the coming months.

In related news, Oppo is in talks to bring back the popular N series in the market. Long back, we had seen the innovative Oppo N1 smartphone with rotating cameras. If the rumored details are to be believed, Oppo could place the refreshed N-series between the Find and Reno series of smartphones.

OPPO‘s been having a very busy day, but they’re not done announcing things yet. At Future Technology Conference 2019, Liu Chang, vice president of OPPO and dean of the research institute, said in an interview that the Oppo folding phone is in development, which we already knew. The more interesting information is in regards to the OS.

The OPPO folding phone will have an adaptable OS, which means that the OS will seamlessly transition from mode to mode according to what the user does. We’ve seen this before with Samsung’s Galaxy Fold and the Huawei Mate X, and it’ll be interesting to see how OPPO’s implementation works.

Liu also states that he believes folding phones are the future of smartphones. OPPO’s folding screen products are currently undergoing intensive research and development to ensure that they’re well optimized. As of right now, folding screen technology is still full of problems and that will need to be fixed, as well as reservations towards it.

After launching the OPPO AR Glasses and announcing that they plan to diversify their product lineup, OPPO seems to be relentless with announcements. Now that the company is already capable of developing their own chips and has a working prototype device with an under display camera being shown off at the conference, the sky’s the limit to what they could announce next.
