OPPO Reno5 and Reno5F launched in Nigeria

Today, OPPO announced the Reno5 and the Reno5F smartphones. Both phones have AMOLED displays, quad-rear cameras, and support 4G LTE.

Reno5

The Reno5 has a 6.4-inch AMOLED screen with an FHD+ resolution, a 90Hz refresh rate, and a punch hole for the front-facing camera. It comes with a Snapdragon 720G processor and is available in a single configuration – 8GB RAM + 128GB.

In front is a 44MP camera with beauty effects while the quad-rear camera setup includes a 64MP main sensor, an 8MP ultrawide angle camera, a 2MP macro camera, and a 2MP mono camera. The camera app comes with features such as Dual-view video, AI Mixed Portrait, and AI Highlight Video for brighter and clearer videos in low light.

OPPO ships it with a 4310mAh battery with support for 50W VOOC Flash Charge. It claims a 5-minute charge will provide 3 hours of video playback and a full charge takes just 48 minutes. You also get a Super Power Saving Mode and a Battery Guard that optimizes charging when plugged in overnight.

The Reno5 ships with ColorOS 11 which has features such as Gamer Mode for uninterrupted and enhanced gaming experience; Flex Drop for resizing apps into floating windows; and hand gesture support that allows you to control your device without touching it. The phone also has an audio jack, an in-display fingerprint scanner, and a MicroSD card slot.

OPPO has put a price tag of NGN 169,000 on the Reno5 and it is available in Fantasy Silver and Starry Black. It is available for pre-order on Jumia Nigeria and Buyoppo.ng ahead of when it goes on sale on March 21. Those who pre-order get a free pair of OPPO Enco W11 TWS earbuds.

The Reno 5F has a 6.43-inch AMOLED display with an FHD+ resolution, punch hole, and a 60Hz refresh rate. The Helio P95 processor is paired with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of expandable storage.

Its main rear camera is a 48MP f/1.7 sensor and it comes along with an 8MP ultrawide angle camera, a 2MP macro camera, and a 2MP mono camera. Its front-facing camera is a 32MP sensor. The camera app has an AI Color Portrait Video mode that highlights the color of the subject while turning the background black and white. There is also a monochrome video mode that highlights only one color while turning everything else into monochrome.

The Reno5F has a 4310mAh battery with support for 30W VOOC Flash Charge 4.0. You get a USB-C port, an audio jack, and an in-display fingerprint scanner. It comes with ColorOS 11 based on Android 11 pre-installed.

The Reno5F is more affordable, as it is priced at NGN 129,000. It is available in Fantastic Purple and Fluid Black. It is available for pre-order on the same platforms as the Reno5. Those who pre-order get a free power bank.

Last month, OPPO held a launch event in Kenya to announce the OPPO Reno5 smartphone. Alongside it, the company also took off covers from another device called the Reno5 F. At that time, it did not reveal the complete specifications of the smartphone. The smartphone has now finally gone official in the country.

OPPO Reno5 F specifications and features

The OPPO Reno5 F has a 6.43-inch AMOLED screen with a punch-hole design. It offers a Full HD+ resolution, a 60Hz refresh rate, a 135Hz touch sampling rate, and 800 nits of maximum brightness. It offers a touch sampling rate of 180Hz in Game mode. The screen is integrated with a fingerprint scanner.

Reno5 F’s display punch-hole has a 32-megapixel selfie camera. The rear-facing camera array has a 48-megapixel primary camera with f/1.7 aperture, an 8-megapixel ultrawide lens with 119-degree FOV, a 2-megapixel mono sensor for portrait shots, and a 2-megapixel macro lens. The ColorOS 11.1 flavored Android 11 OS comes preinstalled on the Reno5 F.

The MediaTek Helio P95 is the driving force of the smartphone. It comes with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of native storage. Its 4,310mAh battery carries support for 30W VOOC Charge technology. It measures 160.1 x 73.2 x 7.8mm and it weighs 172 grams.

The OPPO Reno5 F has plenty of things in common with the OPPO F19 Pro. The only noticeable difference between the two devices is that the F19 Pro has a 16-megapixel front-facing camera.

The OPPO Reno5 F is priced at KES 31,499 (~$287) in Kenya. It comes in two color variants such as Fluid Black and Fantastic Purple.

Last week, OPPO revealed that it will be launching the OPPO Reno5 series in Kenya. As expected, the handsets are now official in the country. The Chinese smartphone maker has announced two models for the country, namely OPPO Reno5 and OPPO Reno5 F. The former is a known phone, whereas the latter has made its global debut in Kenya, which is interesting.

OPPO Reno5 F Specifications, Features, and Price

The OPPO Reno5 F is the latest model in the Reno5 series of smartphones. The company is known for debuting new models first in Asian countries. But for the first time, OPPO has made a global debut of its device in Africa, Kenya to be exact.

Unfortunately, the brand has not revealed the entire specs of this handset. Because the phone will go on sale a month later on March 22. But interested customers can pre-order it from February 23 to March 21.

Pre-ordering customers will get a couple of freebies like OPPO Enco W11 TWS and a 6-month screen protection plan. Above all, the OPPO Reno5 F is priced at KSh 31,999 ($292).

Talking about specifications, the device flaunts a 6.4-inch AMOLED display with a punch-hole at the top left corner nesting a 32MP selfie camera. There’s no info on the chipset but the smartphone is said to come with 8GB RAM and 128GB internal storage.

The backside of the phone sports a new design with a quad-camera setup, shiny finish, and OPPO branding. This camera array includes a 48 primary sensor, an 8MP ultra-wide unit, a 2MP monochrome sensor for portraits, and a 2MP macro snapper.

Further, the device runs ColorOS 11.1 based on Android 11 and is backed by a 4,310mAh battery with support for 30W VOOC Flash Charge 4.0 proprietary fast charging protocol.

Last but not least, the OPPO Reno5 F comes in two colors, namely Fluid Black and Fantastic Purple.

OPPO Reno5 Kenya Price

On the other hand, the OPPO Reno5 is the same device that debuted in the SEA region in late December. It arrives in two colors (Starry Black, Fantasy Silver) and costs KSh 41,999 ($383).

This handset will be also available for pre-order starting tomorrow (February 23) but only till March 1. Because unlike the Reno5 F, the regular Reno5 will go on sale on March 2 itself.

As far as freebies are concerned, customers who pre-order this smartphone offline will be getting a unit of OPPO Enco W11 TWS, OPPO I’m Reno Backpack, and a 6-month screen protection plan. Whereas, online pre-orders include an unnamed Bluetooth speaker instead of the screen protection plan,
