<p>At the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/mwc-2023">MWC 2023</a> in Barcelona, Huawei unveiled the latest features of its Petal Search mobile search engine, namely the <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/augmented-reality">AR</a> search function and On-screen Lens function. These powerful features cater to users&#8217; needs for text, image, and object recognition in a variety of scenarios, such as travel and entertainment. <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/petal-search">Petal Search</a> boasts deep learning and large-scale machine learning technologies, which enable it to recognize hundreds of thousands of objects from dozens of categories in just centiseconds. Moreover, the search engine supports translation between multiple mainstream languages, making it a valuable tool for international users.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="768" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/huawei-logo-1024x768.jpg?x44794" alt="huawei logo" class="wp-image-519292" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/huawei-logo-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/huawei-logo-300x225.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/huawei-logo-768x576.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/huawei-logo-696x522.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/huawei-logo-1068x801.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/huawei-logo-560x420.jpg 560w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/huawei-logo-80x60.jpg 80w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/huawei-logo-265x198.jpg 265w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/huawei-logo.jpg 1280w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>Statistics from Statista show that global paying users of AR-related services have grown at a compound annual rate of 64% between 2020 and 2022. In response, Petal Search has upgraded its AR search capability, allowing users to identify objects in real-time without taking photos. This feature utilizes advanced models based on hundreds of millions of data records and tens of billions of images to deliver accurate results in centiseconds. Users can also translate screen content and save translation results on the go using the On-screen Lens function. Petal Search&#8217;s comprehensive search capability integrates tools, content, and services, enabling users to securely download apps, check the weather, translation, and exchange rates, and access trending news, video, images, and academic knowledge.</p>

<p>Petal Search has localized features that cater to users in different countries and regions, including an earthquake information card in Latin America. Additionally, the search engine has partnered with over 3000 ecosystem partners to provide users with one-stop services for shopping, travel, and local life. Currently, Petal Search offers services in over 170 countries and regions, supporting more than 70 languages, and complying with the local GDPR standard. As a key component of Huawei&#8217;s &#8220;1+8+N&#8221; strategy, Petal Search will continue to evolve towards a more convenient and intelligent one-stop search experience.</p>

It is the Petal Translate official application, which brings translation based functionality to the company&#8217;s ecosystem.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-397596 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/Huawei-Petal-Translate-.png?x44794" alt="Huawei" width="1280" height="720" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/Huawei-Petal-Translate-.png 1280w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/Huawei-Petal-Translate--300x169.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/Huawei-Petal-Translate--768x432.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/Huawei-Petal-Translate--1024x576.png 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/Huawei-Petal-Translate--696x392.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/Huawei-Petal-Translate--1068x601.png 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/Huawei-Petal-Translate--747x420.png 747w" sizes="(max-width: 1280px) 100vw, 1280px" /></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>For those unaware, the Petal Translator from the Chinese tech giant is an intelligent translation application that was introduced by the company&#8217;s Cloud Service Innovation Team. This app was based on the machine translation capabilities of HMS and arrives with numerous features. The features include translation from multiple different languages, intelligent image OCR recognition translation, and even real time translation of dialogues, among other functions.</p>
<p>Now, the public test of the Peta Translate application has brought in a few key features to the open test phase. This includes text translation, which brings support for multilingual text translation based on texts. Furthermore, it also offers picture translation as well, which makes it possible for a device with the app to translate from images. After these translations, one can even create a sharing card and share it on messaging platforms like WeChat and Moments.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-328273 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/Huawei-Petal-Search.png?x44794" alt="Huawei" width="834" height="465" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/Huawei-Petal-Search.png 834w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/Huawei-Petal-Search-300x167.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/Huawei-Petal-Search-768x428.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/Huawei-Petal-Search-696x388.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/Huawei-Petal-Search-753x420.png 753w" sizes="(max-width: 834px) 100vw, 834px" /></p>
<p>Finally, dialogue translation basically adds support for multilingual speech translation. Notaby, we had previously reported on other apps in the Petal series from the brand. This includes its location based <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/petal-map/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Petal Map</a> app and even the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/petal-search/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Petal Search</a> services as well. In other words, the Petal is essentially a Huawei version of Google Mobile Services like Map or Google Search and even the Translate app.</p>
