I have the Poco C71 in its Cool Blue finish, which features a dual-tone rear panel with a grill-like texture on one half, adding depth to the design. The back, frame, and buttons are all plastic, but the device feels solid and well-built. The large, slightly raised camera module houses a single camera, with a non-functional second cutout. The design is reminiscent of recent iPhone models, with gold accents adding a premium touch.

The volume keys and power button are placed on the right, with the power button doubling as a fast, reliable fingerprint scanner. The SIM tray is on the left, while the USB-C port and 3.5mm headphone jack sit at the bottom. The top-firing speaker is an unusual choice but doesn’t affect usability much.

The C71 resists smudges well, feels surprisingly light at 193g, and is comfortable to hold at 8.26mm thick, making long usage sessions effortless. POCO has officially announced the launch date of the POCO C71. This is an upcoming budget smartphone that will be launched later this week. The company has confirmed the launch date along with some of the key specs and features of the POCO C71, so let’s check it out.

POCO C71 India Launch Confirmed

The Chinese smartphone maker is set to unveil the POOC C71 in the Indian market on 4th April 2025, which is in line with our previous report. It shared teaser image posters as well, which revealed a bunch of its features. On the front, the smartphone sports a tall 6.88-inch LCD panel with an HD+ resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, and an 8MP selfie shooter. The panel also offers TUB low blue light certification as well. Meanwhile, the rear packs a 32MP dual camera setup.

Under the hood, this model is equipped with an octa core processor that managed to score over 300,000 points on the AnTuTu benchmark. This chipset is paired with 6GB of RAM that can be expanded by another 6GB via virtual RAM support. A sizeable 5,200mAh battery pack powers this model, which supports 15W wired fast charging. Buyers can even bump the storage by up to 2TB via a microSD card slot.

Other notable features include Android 15 OS out of the box, a 3.5mm audio jack, a side mounted fingerprint scanner, and dual band WiFi. The latest leak arrives from known tipster Sanju Choudhary who shared the details on X (formerly Twitter). In his tweet, he claimed that the POCO C71 is set to launch in the Indian market soon, arriving as early as 4th April 2025. If this is true, the upcoming budget phone might be released within a weeks time. Along with this, the tipster also shared an image that showcased the device in gold.

We can see a dual tone design on the rear panel with a shiny golden rim on the pill shared camera module. The POCO C71 grabbed the BIS certification in India back in February 2025. To recall, the C71 model could also be a rebranded Redmi A5. Xiaomi’s Redmi A5 sports a tall 6.88-inch display with up to 120Hz refresh rate and 240Hz touch sampling rate. Under the hood, this model is equipped with the UNISOC T7250 SoC, which is paired with 4Gb of RAM and 128GB of internal storage.

This model even arrived with 4GB of virtual RAM expansion. A large 5,200mAh battery pack powers this device, which supports 15W wired charging. For optics, the rear has a 32MP AI rear camera, with the front pack housing an 8MP selfie shooter. You also get a fingerprint scanner and face unlock for security.

Xiaomi’s upcoming budget smartphone, the Redmi A5, has cleared India’s BIS certification (model 25028RN03I), alongside its rebranded variant POCO C71 (25028PC03I), signaling an imminent launch in the Indian market this month. The devices, previously mistaken for Redmi 14 4G and POCO M7 4G, have also secured FCC and EEC certifications, confirming their global rollout plans.

Unlike the Redmi A4 5G, the Redmi A5 is anticipated to offer 4G connectivity, Wi-Fi 5 with dual-band support, Bluetooth, and optional NFC, and run on Android 15 with HyperOS 2.0. Storage configurations are likely to include 3GB/64GB, 4GB/64GB, 4GB/128GB, and 6GB/128GB variants.

The Redmi A4 5G featured a 6.88-inch LCD with a 120Hz refresh rate, HD+ resolution, and a Snapdragon 4s Gen 2 processor. It housed a 50MP primary rear camera, a 5MP front camera, and a 5,160mAh battery supporting 18W fast charging. The device also included a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, 3.5mm headphone jack, FM Radio, and ran on Android 14 with HyperOS.

Given these specifications, the Redmi A5 is expected to maintain a similar display size and refresh rate, possibly with a downgrade in processing power. The camera capabilities are expected to remain the same or receive a minor upgrade. As a rebrand of the Redmi A5, the POCO C71 is also anticipated to share these features.

In other news, Realme is set to launch the C75x in Malaysia after its C75 debut in Vietnam. Xiaomi‘s sub-brand, Redmi, unveiled its entry-level A3 smartphone back in February 2024. Almost a year later now, the company is gearing up for the launch of its successor, the Redmi A4.

Earlier this month, the device made an appearance on the FCC certification site, revealing some key details about its specs. The phone will feature Android 15, 5G connectivity, and four memory variants: 3GB/64GB, 4GB/64GB, 4GB/128GB, and 6GB/128GB.

While the chipset had been kept under wraps, a recent report from XiaomiTime may have just uncovered the details. According to findings from the alleged “Mi Code”, the upcoming Redmi A4 (model number “C3Z”) will be powered by the UniSoC T615 chipset.

Redmi A5 gets UnisoC T615 chip

The code points to “C3Z = UMS9230E,” which confirms the device will use UniSoC T615. This is the same chip we’ve seen on the Tecno Spark Go 1.

The UniSoC T615 features a mix of two ARM Cortex-A75 cores, six Cortex-A55 cores, and an ARM Mali-G57 MP1 graphics controller, all built on a 12-nanometer process. While it doesn’t deliver any extreme performance, it is well-suited for entry-level devices that focuses just on the basics. 

Details on the rest of the specs remain scarce, but rumors suggest that the Redmi A4 will sport a 1600 x 720 IPS display with a 120Hz refresh rate, a modest primary camera, and a 5,000mAh battery with 18W charging. 

Xiaomi is reportedly set to rebrand the Redmi A5 as the POCO C71, meaning both devices will likely share a similar set of specifications.

The company hasn’t officially confirmed the existence of these devices, and details on pricing, specific launch dates, and full specifications remain under wraps.

The FCC listing for the Redmi A5 suggests it will be a 5G-compatible phone with dual-band Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth connectivity. The listing also reveals that the phone has Android 15 OS, likely with Xiaomi’s custom HyperOS 2.0 on top. Storage options appear to include 3GB/64GB, 4GB/64GB, 4GB/128GB, and 6GB/128GB configurations.

Rebranded Poco C71?

According to a report by XiaomiTime, Xiaomi might also launch a rebranded version of the Redmi A5 as the POCO C71. Both phones, despite being entry-level devices, are expected to offer decent performance, display, camera quality, an NFC option, and a compact design – all at an affordable price point.

The leak also details different model numbers for the Redmi A5 and POCO C71 across various regions:
