Porsche is developing an all-electric version of its popular Boxster sports car, which is expected to go on sale in 2024 or 2025. The new EV will be based on a dedicated electric sports car platform that Porsche is developing in collaboration with Audi. Porsche Boxster EV to Have 80+ kWh Battery, 400 Horsepower

The Porsche Boxster was seen plugged into a 200 kW charger, which suggests that it has an 80+ kWh battery. This would be in line with other electric sports cars, such as the Tesla Model 3 Performance and the Audi e-tron GT. Even though an 80+ kWh battery might seem like a small detail at first, it’s actually very important. It can give a car a longer driving distance.

This matters for people who want to drive far without worrying about their car losing power. For instance, a Tesla Model 3 Long Range with an 82 kWh battery can go over 350 miles. But, a Nissan Leaf with a 40 kWh battery can only go a bit over 150 miles. Also, if you think about the speed of a Porsche Boxster, you can see why a big battery is crucial. The Boxster EV is expected to have a single electric motor that powers the rear wheels.
